San Carlo Regent Street
San Carlo is renowned for its signature dishes, from the decadent Spaghetti Lobster or classic Caccio e Pepe, Spaghettini Vongole or authentic Carbonara to spectacular sharing dishes such as the Shellfish Royale -roasted langoustines, scallops, giant prawns and mussels served with garlic butter, for 2 people, to superb steaks including the T-Bone Fiorentina 40 days dry-aged, or the impressive 45oz Tomahawk, alongside grill and main classics, antipasti, pasta an extensive seafood menu and of course tempting desserts, there's something for everyone.
A set menu served between 12 and 6 offers superb value and there is an extensive wine list.
Choose from two relaxed yet elegant dining areas or go al fresco on the terrace and enjoy the best views in the city
As usual the good was excellent and this always brings me back. On this occasion I found that our waiter was a little coarse with us. It's a shame the toilets downstairs were closed, as we had to queue to use the one toilet that was available.
Lunch after a trip to The National Galley.
All the food was horrible! Vary bad and no taste and not hot even the drinks tasted horrible
Perfect experience with San Carlo from start to end. Very warm greeting from hostess. All staff were very hospitable and no query was an issue. Food was flawless and service was second to none. Will be returning and recommending friends to this restaurant.
Loved everything about the place. To top it all, my son's birthday was made special. Thank you so much for your lovely service and attention to detail. Steak and lobster was to die for. Will definitely recommend xx
The restaurant is gorgeous, staff were very attentive, and the food was quite good. We had truffle arancini to start and they were a bit bland. Our endive salad was delicious. The pasta bolognese was tasty, but a little dry. The halibut with lobster sauce was a little over cooked (touch dry) and the lobster sauce was more of a sweet, oily sauce and didn’t have much lobster flavor. We were upsold their bread basket with, “Why don’t I start you off with some bread while you look at the menu?”
Great service, not a great value for money as the food was good but a bit expensive for what it was
We went for dinner prior to going to the Panton of the Opera show. We informed the waiter that we needed to leave by 19:15 having arrived at 18:00. The waiter said that would not be a problem. The starters came very quickly indeed and were delicious and we finished these by 18:30. The main course we received by 19:05 in spite of insisting several times about our need to leave. The lasagne was dried out from staying too long in the oven. As we had to rush to leave we could not finish the food. Other patrons that came after us were served faster iand able to leave in a timely manner for the show. It was quite ironic to see an ad for the restaurant on the inner back page of the show's program booklet advertising pre and post show dinners. I will not return.
this restaurant has a yacht style interior and they are accommodating with menu choices. the food is good and we enjoyed our dinner.
Superb. Very friendly helpful staff. Excellent food and wine.
OK but we'll overpriced
Service was excellent and the food great.
We did have a problem with one of our dishes being served without pasta sauce (very strange, but everyone has the occasional off day)
This was quickly remedied by the waiting staff and the
Fabulous service and very friendly, attentive waiters. The food was lovely and we had a great pre-theatre meal here. There’s a good value set menu for early diners, if you order before 6pm, which is worth checking out if you are going on to a show.
Food was top top quality. Staff very knowledgable and friendly and nothing was too much for them. Would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
Excellent dining experience & wonderful service and food.
1st place to visit in London!
A very nice restaurant with friendly and efficient service. My only disappointment was the Avocado Bernardo which was said to be with prawns and lobster - there were certainly prawns but I only identified one tiny piece of lobster which doesn't seem very good value for around £15.
We had a great meal two days earlier so we returned again on Saturday night. The restaurant was packed so we were ushered downstairs to what must be the worst seat in the house directly next to the kitchen. Our waiter ignored us most of the night, but Bruno was amazing and he saved the day.
A charming restaurant full of Italian flair. Excellent service and lovely food. I love it and you will as well!! So brilliant we went 3 nights in a row! Amazing staff, wonderful food and a brilliant atmosphere. GO HERE, IT’S brilliant!!
Well appointed restaurant with the best pasta around. Staff are very attentive. Very friendly. It is one of my favourite eating venues in London.
In London for the weekend
Charming, energetic service from everyone we met so it felt like a lovely place to be. Attractive room with a nice vibe, bathrooms good too. Ordered the Menu Fisso which was £22 for two courses, £29 for three. Good selection and very tasty when arrived. However, they forgot the fries for my main course so they arrived too late to enjoy with the steak (though they were delicious with strings of cheese melted across the top). They also brought the wrong dessert for my partner so by the time the correct one arrived we were effectively eating separately. Total price £40 a head including the service charge.
Small portions but good service and food is tasty, much better than Fumo even though they are same brand
Beautiful ambience, excellent selection. Ideal for the seafood enthusiast but would not disappoint the carnivore either. Attentive service but not overly so & we never felt rushed. Wine list a bit pricey but this is no different from any other well-appointed restaurant in London. will definitely go again.
Note: Opentable says "under £25 per head" While this is possible, our bill came to £225 Inc. service. We were 4 sharing 3 starters, 4 mains (2 with lobster, one with crab), 3 desserts shared and 5 glasses of wine/cocktail (not a bottle).
Another fabulous dining experience at San Carlo. The food is simply delicious - this is a real gem of a restaurant - and the staff are very good. The only small downside was that we had to wait a long time after requesting our bill. However, I will be back again as it's now established as one of my favourite places to eat in central London. I loved the truffle ravioli!
Had a pre theatre set meal - quality was excellent and choice was still reasonable. Excellent efficient service. Would definitely repeat the experience
Birthday. Good food needs better service
Amazing service from start to finish! We told them that we were in a bit of a rush due to having theatre reservations and they could not have been more accommodating! From filling our water to making sure we had the best experience, everything was outstanding! The 12.5% service charge is well deserved! We will definitely be returning!
First class restaurant, fabulous selection on the menu . Excellent food and service will definitely go again
A beautifully designed restaurant with fantastic staff. Our waiter was so attentive right from the moment we walked in. The food was delicious. I'll be back.
Good Morning Thank you so much for sharing your review. We're delighted you enjoyed your visit and have shared your feedback with the team. We hope to welcome you again soon. With best wishes Team San Carlo
We booked an anniversary lunch at San Carlo on the basis of its great location and reviews on OpenTable — and weren't disappointed. To celebrate the occasion, the manager offered glasses of complimentary prosecco on arrival — a nice touch which set the scene for a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
San Carlo is an honest Italian restaurant, with a menu packed with classic favourites such as saltimbocca, plus a comprehensive selection of fresh fish and seafood.
The set lunch offers excellent value, but, for us, the a la carte menu was more tempting. We started with mussles — plump, succulent and cooked in a light white wine sauce, and tuna tartare, prepared at the table with just the right note of theatricality. Both were delicious, and testament to the freshness of the seafood.
To follow, I stuck with the seafood and had the delicious spaghetti lobster and my other half had the wild boar ragu. Again, both were delicious. The pasta was cooked with just enough bite, and both sauces were made with love and built on the foundation of good stock.
A selection of cheese, served with honey provided a perfect end to a perfect meal.
San Carlo is not the cheapest spot for lunch, but it does offer excellent value in the heart of London (and close to theatres) — which isn't always easy to find.
The staff are knowledgable and attentive without ever hovering or feeling too 'present' and the room is light and airy.
The wine list has a wide range and offers some really good value. If in doubt it's worth asking for a steer — we were torn between two reds and the less expensive was recommended, always a sign that advice is based on suitability not up-selling.
We will definitely return
Good Morning Thank you so much for sharing your 5 star review, it was a pleasure to read and so helpful! We're delighted to see you enjoyed your visit and hope we can welcome you again soon. With best wishes Team San Carlo
Good Morning, thank you so much for awarding us 5 stars, we're delighted and hope to welcome you again soon. Team San Carlo
Lovely restaurant for pre-theatre meal, excellent service, good menu with specials, wine a bit pricey but to be expected in West End, will return.
Friendly staff. Excellent and delicious choice of food. Thoroughly enjoyed the ambience. What More could you want from this wonderful restaurant. Would definitely recommend.
Incredibly welcoming team - loved the experience
After returning from two wonderful weeks in Sicily we were feeling gloomy.
The gloom soon lifted when we entered through the doors of San Carlo.
The reception we received was warm professional and delightful and food absolutely delicious.
A great place, fantastic value, really recommend.
OK meal, nothing special. My wife had pasta dishes which she enjoyed however portions were small for main course. I had calamari which was nothing special, I’ve eaten better in national restaurant chains. Veal Milanese was also very poor. Nice meat but breadcrumb coating lacked flavour, both dishes lacked seasonings. Service was very attentive, but almost to much. We had 3 waiters look after us, resulting in missed drinks which were then duplicated and being offered another table starters after our main course. Couldn’t distinguish which waiter was actually meant to be looking after our table.
Risotto was very disappointing. Very heavy.
Service was not joined up.
AMAZING! Food was Devine and staff were very friendly and helpful. Cannot wait to go back.
Lovely food and atmosphere. My friend had the haddock which was huge. Great ambiance.
Although it wasn’t for a special occasion it is a Restaurant that you would use for a special occasion.
