Terrible service and the staff was so rude that even know the food was not bad i would never ever go back
First of all this is my first & last time for San Marzano, Not recommended to make reservation for this place. Because if you do you’re forced to order the $45 prefix menu and they forced us to pay for gratuity 20%. I asked her to take off the gratuity because there were no notice or warning in their menu, Open Table or even on the website. The manager said “WE CAN NOT TAKE OFF THE TIPS BECAUSE IT’S A POLICY”
I’m not mad or upset but the way you guys treated us is really shady. This is disrespectful and rude
I understand we need to tip for the service and the servers want tips to pay their bills in New York City but this is robbery. TLDR: Our server is pretty nice and kind but the system sucks
I was told that the reservation I made through opentable was an error so we had to wait over 2 hours to be seated. Don’t make a same day reservation on opentable for this restaurant! Once we sat, it was 25 minutes before a server came over and at that point there was only 35 minutes left for brunch service. Food was very good and their brunch deal is amazing but overall disappointing because of the experience. Make sure to book in advance!
Great service, though it takes them a while to refill bottomless mimosas. The deal is amazing though, you get a ton for $27 bottomless mimosa brunch.
We waited over an hour to be seated with a reservation - our reservation was at 12p and did not sit until 1:15p. Our party was seated well after multiple smaller parties that arrived to the restaurant after us. We were made to stand outside in the heat while waiting for our table. No apologies or compensation were offered to us. Would not go back to this spot.
awesome food, experience and prices. but my god was our waiter rude and snarky.... dennis is his name....
The service was a little odd. I specifically asked the hostess to tell the servers to hide the cake I bought to be served at the end of our entree as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday. The server brought the cake with the box in a bag out to the table and asked me if it was anyone’s birthday. Again, this was supposed to be a surprised and that was not at all subtle or acceptable. The food was pretty good and had nothing to really say about it
Came here 6 months ago and loved it but came back last weekend and it was an absolute disaster. Food came out in like 15 min—not trying to rush through the meal. Service was poor and not enjoyable.
This place is a scam. There's no other word for it.
FIRST - I placed a reservation for 8 people and two people fell sick the morning of, we arrived at the restaurant and informed them we were just 6 in the end. They sit us to the table already set up - they was NO room for 8 people, and VERY restricted for 6. They still charged me $20 for the no-show.
SECOND - With reservations, there's a flat-fee brunch of $27 - gets you unlimited mimosas, a basket of pastries for the table and an entree. When adding up the actual cost of the items we ordered, it actually added up to $20 per person. So not only they charge $20 for the no-show but they made an additional $7 per head.
THIRD - The mimosas tastes like cardboard - truly disgusting - the basket of pastries is actually made of BREAD and a cut-up frozen croissant, and the food had no presentation whatsoever and seemed like it was cooked by children in the kitchen.
FINALLY - The hostess was wearing a shirt letting her entire belly out. We're in a restaurant, it is completely unsanitary and truly repulsive to have someone's stomach's sweat on your menu, silverware, tables, etc. PLUS - truly unkind, no smile, cold greetings..
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
The mimosas were like 90% juice but other than that fantastic prices for really really good food!!!
Every reservation had to wait at least 30 mins for their table. Management did nothing to compensate us for this. Even though it was bottomless it was difficult to flag down the waiter to get your next drink.
got seated 30 min after our reservation and service wasnt good. have been here before and liked it but no longer coming back
I had a great time for my birthday! Everyone really enjoyed the appetizers and entrees and definitely the unlimited drinks!! What a blast! It was a little noisy but it's a small place and the food is worth it.
We made reservations for a group of 7 for a special night out. Life intervened and the group wasn’t able to all be there - the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and obliging. Half our group dined at the bar and ordered takeout for the other half - and the food was outstanding for all. San Marzano and their varied menu made a “moving feast” possible and kept the “special” in our evening ... just differently! Great service, DELICIOUS food. Very crowded with lively noise-level on a Saturday evening. We highly recommend.
The service was unprofessional. Our questions were ignored. We were not allowed time to order appetizers or review the menu. The food was cold.
Everything was great except the restaurant was incredibly loud and hard to hear the other people at our table of 5.
The reservation and set menu makes it not worth the reservation
Cheap pasta. Never make a reservation! They will make you pay a fix menu which is not worth it.
Restaurant called an hour before my reservation that I had booked almost a month ago to say they overbooked and were cancelling my reservation. How do they run a business like this? Totally unreliable
Brunch was very good. They had a nice selection of food from brunch favorites to panini's and pasta. The unlimited mimosa's were also good. The place is a tight squeeze but a really fun and bright environment.
We had brunch reservations for 10. The price was unbelievable for an entree and bottomless mimosas. The food was great.
San Marzano's pasta is always fresh and delicious! I highly recommend the bolognese sauce and the ricotella dessert!
Had to make a last minute change to our party and they made us pay $10 per person missing. I understand a policy charging a cancellation fee but sometimes things come up and if the party can still be a reasonably accommodated at a smaller table it seems silly. The food was well priced but not great quality, comes off as if the ownership is cheap, and I have pretty low standards when it comes to breakfast/lunch.
Really great place for groups and affordable. Staff is very nice
Overall very good experience, however the price quoted at $42 was not what we were charged ($45). $3 each wasn’t a big deal, but they should have honored the price since that was what we were quoted.
Finally got a reservation here for a group of four on a Friday night. Despite lots of large groups and a lot of noise, our service was FANTASTIC, and the food was amazing. Restaurant called to confirm and made sure we were aware of the pre-fixe menu and fees if anyone in the party didn’t show up, so everything was very transparent. Did the burrata, eggplant parmigiana (AMAZING) and garlic bread for a group, and everyone got different pastas but all loved. Wine glasses were never empty. Listen to the reviews about the noise, but overall, it’s a small place with a good waitstaff ratio to patrons. Would 100% go again and bring more friends—loved this place!
Love this place so much! Best bottomless drinks at dinner place in the east village and the pasta is always out of this world!
Food is always good here. Seating is just really tight but food makes up for it. Haha Service was great also although we got a little attitude from our server at the end but it’s cool probably she had a long day.
The brunch is amazing, and best value in town! Our server was seriously delightful, even though they were super busy. And the pasta is out of this world. I'm a brunch person but couldn't say no to the homemade pasta and it was the best choice. Will be going back again and again.
We were not told that for a reservation you had to dine with their pre-arranged package of $32 dollars per person, with food included that is only of about half that in value (3 appetizers to share for the table, each $8 value, and a pasta of $10 value). Felt incredibly misled by the whole situation and will definitely not go again with a reservation. Pasta was also mediocre, fine for $10 value but not for what we paid.
Great price for a prefix and for bottomless drinks. Tasty and fun!
Such great value for money and still really high quality. Fully recommend for bottomless brunch
I had a reservation for six. They stuck us at a four person table right by the door. The host told us that they overbooked the restaurant and there was no way we could get a bigger table. I asked if overbooking was regular policy which I was told it is. There was no control of the wait so we were cold the entire time and constantly asking people to close the door. The food was good, not amazing but worth the price. The waitress rarely checked on us but there were multiple big parties so understandable. Overall not a great experience. I would not go back.
great pasta and brunch deal but mimosas had WAY too much orange juice relative to champagne.
I planned a birthday dinner here for my boyfriend - there were 12 of us total. Because it was on a saturday night, they said we had to start the 90-minute drink tab after the 1st 4 people got there. They couldn't wait to run the clock until everybody was seated... The service was good for a busy night there. We got pitchers of sangria, but the waitress was not replenishing those with wine. After 90 minutes was up and we paid a large bill, the waitress kicked us out of the restaurant because i guess she had another reservation waiting behind us. This was the part that bothered me- we brought in $700+ worth of business to her table that night, and we weren't allowed to sit together after the bill was taken care of.
Great for a large group of friends!
Incredible went with my girlfriends had the best dinner!! Amazing service!! Highly recommend!!
Overcooked pasta for 24 guests. Not coming back. Sorry.
Great place brunch, accommodating staff. Would definitely recommend.
Made a reservation for 5 a week in advance, a half hour before my reservation I received a call from the restaurant informing me that my party was required to order from the “$45 per person pre determined menu” I chose this restaurant for my visiting family to dine at because of their fantastic (and cheap) $10 pasta dishes, therefore was not interested in the $45 per person menu. When I tried to explain this the woman on the phone was rude and told me I had no choice. I explained that nowhere on their website or on opentable was this pre fixed $45 menu mentioned, ANYWHERE. She cut me off and said that it was “clearly stated” on their website ?? Still can’t find what she’s talking about. Canceled the reservation and showed up anyways and there was no wait, haha! My family got our $10 pasta dishes and had a lovely meal despite this ridiculously odd occurance.
