The food was dreadful. They served me raw fish, made very little apology about it. By the time the replacement arrived everyone else had finished eating and I had to ask where my meal was. There was no price reduction . I was charged full whack for food that potentially could have made me sick!
The bar is beautiful. Cocktails good. But that’s about it!

Sanderson offers up a beautiful setting and what feels like a calm, tranquil oasis to offset the busy sounds of London life occurring just outside the hotel entrance. We ordered off the set menu for £28, which was terrific value for money. The food is carefully prepared and really does go above and beyond what the price would suggest.

The service was impeccable and the friendliness of the staff was a welcome change from the usual hotel snobbery you find around central London. Unfortunately, the service charge errs on the side of extortionate, especially considering we were a table of two dining on a Wednesday evening - there were a handful of other diners seated in the terrace. The service charge is one that's more akin to group dining and it was something that did leave a little bit of a sour taste. We were more than happy to adequately tip our waitress for her great work, but were turned off by the discretionary charge, which as it was already added to our total cost we felt obliged to pay.

The set menu was nice as was the complimentary cocktail. However we did feel rushed as the waitress cleared our plates as soon as we put our cutlery down and the next course appeared before we'd even swallowed the last mouthful of the previous course! The staff were very polite and helpful but perhaps they need to give diners a bit more time and privacy between courses.

I was very worried about this restaurant because of some of its reviews. However, I decided to give the crazy deal menu a try, and man, was it worth it!

We were seated in view of the bar, but also around the corner from it, so it wasn’t noisy. Our waiter and the host were very attentive and kept asking if everything was going well. It felt genuine and not forced.

The food was great. We even got cocktails, which were a surprising part of the deal. I ordered the burrata - it was very nice. My friend had the crispy pig head - different, but good if you’re into meat. We both had cod, and that, too, was well done. I would say that neither dish was out-of-this-world extraordinary, but they were tasty, and I would get them again.

Now, the main event. The chocolate torte dessert WAS out of this world. Words cannot describe it. In pictures it might look like a cake, but it was really, really good, dense chocolate. It came on a chilled plate. I would gladly come back and pay full price for it. It was one of the best desserts I’ve had recently.

Overall, I’m so happy we came here for a really nice meal. I’d say the restaurant fixed whatever wrong they committed in the past. I would definitely go back.

Went again for our anniversary as we always love it, kept waiting for a table even though we booked in advance no problem though got to enjoy the lovely long bar! Service wasn’t as good as last time and was overly crowded and the groups were very loud in there. Felt there wasn’t enough space to thoroughly enjoy however we loved the food as usual and this will not stop us returning.

No special touches for our anniversary which was a bit disappointing

The Sanderson is certainly somewhere to go for a special treat. The open table deal is good value and a very interesting menu - we all enjoyed our dishes. It was lovely to sit semi-outside and the wraps on the back of the chairs would be very welcome for cooler evenings

Unfortunately all the commentary around booking which implies you are going to a buzzing restaurant sets a scene different to reality. Very quiet, all staff focus seemed elsewhere, maybe ok for £40 for 2 salads and 2 glasses of wine...but not for £80.

Service was pleasant (ish) but painfully slow to the point of being ignored for 20 mins at a time.

I also received a rather condescending ‘don’t worry’ when I quietly reported crab shell in the sandwiches.

Luckily it was a beautiful day and the garden is a lovely place to be when the sun shines!

Beautiful restaurant with stunning outdoor seating. Food was excellent all courses were equally as amazing as each other and the steak was cooked to perfection.

I would recommended the salmon for starter and their ‘sanderson’ cocktail was the one to have.

Staff were brilliant and very welcoming.

Would recommended highly and will be back to return.

My experience at Sanderson may have been the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant in my ENTIRE LIFE. Calling the service “bad” would be complimenting it. It was atroucious! First off, we were seated at the Worst table (directly in front of the kitchen) which I had left a note while making reservations to not seat to be seated there. The restaurant was completely empty so there was no reason why my request wasn’t fulfilled. Furthermore, any other table would have sufficed but it seemed they did it out of spite. I asked to be seated at a different table and was greeted with attitude and a sigh. We got to our new table and there we had the worst server. He did not welcome us, offer us anything to drink, tell us the specials, nothing. He did not even provide more than 1 drink menu (we were a total of 4 people) and had to pass around the drink menu. During dinner he did not check up on us once, and when we asked for Tabasco it was as if we had asked him to run a Marathon. He said he would get it- never did. Every time he walked by our table he would stomp his feet and sigh under his breath. we couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER RECOMMEND SANDERSON TO ANYONE!

We decided to eat here while staying at the Sanderson Hotel and I have to say it was the low point of the experience.

The hotel and the 2 bars of a very high standard and have a creative charm that I haven’t found anywhere else in London and the overall experience is great. So unsurprisingly I expected the restaurant to be of an equally quality.

Unfortunately this was far from what we found. The design of the eating area is very off, but not in a good way like the rest of The Sanderson. The tables are either of tall bar type or too low and you feel like you are sitting in the children's area.

The service was often poor and the food was mediocre at best. I had left a note that the evening was for my wife's birthday and would have hoped for special treatment. As it was they had trouble finding our booking and then proceeded to give us a table at the end even though the restaurant was early quite for an 8pm sitting.

To make things worse the food was of mixed quality at best and far below what I would expect from a restaurant that is shooting for a fine dining level. Uninspiring presentation and personally didn’t feel like the dishes were balance and well thought through.

I think the formula for this restaurant needs to be screwed up and reinvented. It just does not live up to the standard of the rest of The Sanderson experience.

Disappointing service after an encouraging start. Long wait for wine, bread served after the starters were cleared away. No choice of sparking wines, only champagne which is surprising in this day and age as it is a very popular drink. On a plus the staff were all friendly and seemed attentive but didn’t seemed to know what each other was doing. There seemed to be a lack of training or more likely bad management on the day
