It was my daughter in laws birthday so we came for Afternoon Tea, We were made very welcome. Enjoyed our food, drinks and surroundings, the staff were very helpful and polite, will definitely be coming back
We were greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome, we ordered our food, I had gluten free fish n chips, the fish was very nice but the chips were so cold I couldn’t eat them, it was also very drafty in there so wasn’t very comfortable, other than that the staff were excellent, would go again with a big coat on maybe.
I thought the staff was good when they brought out the foods and drank
Bitterly disappointing as I’d fallen foul of the fact that this has changed its positioning or ownership from a nice bistro with fab menu, making lovely Sunday venue, to a cheap fish and chip shop. It was pretty poor. You have to order at the bar (drinks included, no table service for drinks). A real let down. I won’t be returning as you can get fish and chips for a fraction of the price next door at the 3 shells with the same view.
Although the restaurant was busy throughout Mothers Day, i can only commend Sands for it's welcoming and attentive service and good selection of food options to suit all tastes (some of our party of 9 were looking for fish and chips, others for cream teas). Food was served quickly and the fish & chips were great value, hot and tasty and included mushy peas & salad accompaniments.
Will definitely be going back.
We thought the food was really nice. But we went there for afternoon tea and didn't think the service was all that good. As we kept having to asks for drinks etc.
Very poor. Was excellent and used to go alot. Turned up for a special occasion and discovered for some ill conceived reason the owners had turned a high quality restaurant into an overpriced chippy, complete with cheap paper menus. Why!!!!????
Who knows but won't be going again and looking at some of the reviews elsewhere I'm not the only one to have unfortunately fallen foul of this big turn for the worse!
Don't go unless want overpriced, poor quality fish n chips with a view (which you can get cheaper elsewhere)!
Menu change has cheapened the restaurant. Only non fried food on the menu was soup and jacket potato! They didn’t go any grilled fish option as all fish already in batter! Such a disappointment
Very pleased with the service and quality and quantity of the food, also helpfulness of the staff on dut.
Sands has changed from a restaurant with a nice expansive menu to a "chip shop"
The menu is limited to fish and chips, battered sausage and chips and burger and chips
The interior furniture has all changed to reflect this change of direction but i would say not for the better
We much preferred the old Sands and will not be returning.
Staff were fantastic very friendly, went for my sisters birthday on New Year’s Eve lunch and even tho they were changing menus they bent over backwards to accommodate our wishes - the lighting could be a little more atmospheric but all in all a wonderful experience
Lovely restaurant with great view. Also good gluten free range of food.
We booked the restaurant on reccomendation & thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were very attentive , the sun shone, the food was great & would defiantly return.
Very nice lunch with my daughter good food and good service
I would like to say a special thank you to Ami the waitress who made my friend and I extremely comfortable, attended to our requests and made our afternoon tea special occasion complete. I will definitely rebook for future occasions. Thanks to the other staff who were very helpful and it was a pleasure to visit the Sands which I will recommend to friends and family. Sue Camm .
Please inform Ami, that Spotty had a great time too....x
Sands Bistro in Southend is a very pleasant place to eat. I would recommend this to anyone in the area.
My husband and I had Sunday lunch here on a day where Southend was packed and the sun was splitting the sky so we didn't have a roast but two delicious salads. I had duck which had a huge amount of duck which I wasn't expecting given the heat and the fact that most diners were ordering salads. My husband had prawn and crab salad and again the portions were generous. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Recommended.
Sands Bistro in southend has a nice setting on the seafront, the starters were fairly pricey at around £7/8, the mains were not so. The food in general was good, I enjoyed the pate for starter and the fish and chips for main was nice. The service was very poor, the restaurant was only half full yet for 35 minutes we were not able to get the bill or dessert menu even though the waitress agreed to bring it over, it took so long to come we decided not to have any, got the bill and left, real shame.
Lovely meal and good service.
sands bistro in southend was excellent. The food was amazing and the staff were very good.
Sands Bistro, Southend sea front. On a rather chilly, windy evening in January we went to Sands Bistro, we received a very warm welcome and a lovely meal with a view out to sea. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxing. There was a piano player there all evening with a great variety of music. If I had one critisism it would be that the music was slightly too loud but our table was very near a speaker.
Staff were excellent and the food was amazing! Would definitely go back and recommend to others.
Was very unimpressed at first as our waitress was pretty rude and next to useless - the week before Christmas, and if one of us (6) wanted turkey then everyone had to have it, which struck me as bizarre! Luckily we started getting looked after by a very helpful guy which changed my opinion. Couldn't fault the food - the roast beef with all the trimmings was fantastic! Good food, good atmosphere, and, eventually, good service - all key ingredients.
A nice meal on a Sat evening out with friends., however 2 of the 3 meat main courses were unavailabe and some of the desserts Paid with cash but the change was not returned as the tip was obviously assumed!!
We couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate my mother's birthday. Good honest food, excellent, friendly service , fair prices and splendid views.
I shall definitely be back...
Sands Bistro- Southend on Sea .Very enjoyable meal, staff were really friendly and helpful. Fantastic views across the estuary on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. Would highly recommend and will be returning soon for a Saturday evening with friends.
Food and service were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, even after a busy day on the hottest day of the year!! We even returned for breakfast the next morning.
Nicely located by the beach, Sands Bistro has one of the best sights that you can marvel at on good days in Southend. The menu though can resemble what you get at other restaurants. Still, service is good and probably worth a visit again if you're by the area and are looking for something to fill yourself up.
Warm and friendly welcome, nice views, a very pleasant meal.
Really tasty and filling food at a good price. They gave us a really nice table with full views of the sunset and the beach.
The staff was really nice.
Maybe the music was too loud but ey! there was a girl playing the piano. Where do you get that?
We have been to Sands Bistro previously but in the winter so it was very pleasant to sit by the picture windows with a view of the sea, unfortunately the tide was out and the cloud blocked the setting sun but still a nice outlook of the Estury. We were early diners so enjoyed a quiet meal but later I would expect it to be buzzing. The food was hot, tasty & well presented. The only fault was the lack of lemon in the lemon cheescake but it did not spoil the meal, We will certainly will return
Sands Southend- Fantastic location overlooking the Eastuary but very quiet on a Tuesday night.
Food was excellent- recommend the 21 day steak and the seabass.
Sands Bistro on Southend 's sea front next to Pier
On entering this large open plan Restaurant the noise hits you, with no soft furnishings too absorb the sound and that was before the entertainment started. A limited choice menu , but the chefs were prepared to adapt the menu to our satisfaction ,the food was very good but the service was very slow we eventually became accustomed to the noise & by the end of the evening we were enjoying the entertainer Sands offers a large Terrace
Lovely meal, it was late so we couldnt appreciate the view but i imagine its a good one. The foid portions were good and it works out to around £30:00 a head.
Sands Bisto in Southend-on-Sea is a great venue with music on a Saturday night.
Sands Bistro, Southend
After reading other reviews about this restaurant we were not disappointed. The service was friendly and attentive, wonderful views of the Thames Estuary and the food was hot, presented well but my understanding of fondant potatoes was not the same as chefs but it did not spoil the meal. If you are looking for a quiet night out perhaps not the perfect place as there are no soft furnishing to absorb the sound but if you go away from the busy timesitwould be fine.
Gurkha Palace restaurant in Windsor is an excellent venue whether its an intimate dinner or a group venue that you want. The owner was on hand to advise on ordering and they specialise in Nepali food. The food was top notch and we will all be going back soon. The waiters were attentive but nit intrusive.
We had a delicious meal at Gurkha palace in Windsor on Friday. The food seems to get better every time we go - I recommend the Lamb Momo for a starter. The staff are friendly and attentive and it's great value for money.
My husband and myself had an excellent meal on wednesday 28/7/2010 at the Gurkha Palace in Windsor. The service along with the food was of superb quality. We would highly recommend tthis restaurant.
