What Insiders Are Saying
Sauvage is a French bistro-like spot from the people behind the OG Williamsburg cocktail spot Maison Premiere.
No air conditioning so it was hot as Hades, tap was broken so seltzer was flat, wine was warm, food was overpriced and mediocre.
We took our friends who were visiting from abroad to brunch at Sauvage and went with our baby in the stroller. The service, the food, the vibe, everything was wonderful as always. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating. We especially like their eggs benedict, avocado toast and french toast!
Hadn't been to Sauvage in a little while, but we'll be back soon. It's one of the prettiest places to dine in the neighborhood, and the food was really delightful. We ordered a pork chop that was delicately cooked to perfection, and complemented by an array of summery tomatoes and greens. The potato gratin side is like a fancy hash brown from culinary heaven, and the oysters are always perfectly curated. Drink recommendations were spot on, and we loved their take on a classic Cosmo. Will be back soon and often.
We were in town from Chicago and this was by far our favorite dining experience out of our whole trip. Food was well prepared and seasoned, staff was downright delightful, Ben (the GM) swooped in to give us some extra details and answer questions. True hospitality gem!
Lovely sidewalk setting-wonderful and knowledgeable service. Delicious food. Thx for helping create such a delightful dining experience!
Food and place are great! We loved the terrasse with the view on the park and shared nice dishes and drinks!
The main issue had been the service, it was long and badly organized, not very pleasant and inefficient!
We had a great time overall!
We had walked by before and liked the looks of it. Sauvage did not disappoint! Great service and ambience and the food was delicious. The fresh bread was made even better by the anchovies, the trout was perfectly prepared, and the haricot vert were almost as good (and I usually don’t like them!). Definitely going on our regular rotation.
We were there with friends and family for saturday morning brunch, our baby and his stroller was with us too. We had a great time. The service, the food, the ambiance were amazing. It wasn’t too hot or cold for the baby as many restaurants tend to be due to AC or its lack thereof. I also comfortably nursed and rocked my baby to sleep walking inside the restaurant. We come here often and truly enjoy our time at Sauvage!
Great inventive takes on French cuisine, great service, great location.
It's just fine. Nothing particularly exciting or worth going back a second time for. The waitstaff was SO lovely and definitely helped us order the right amount of food. That being said, the place was almost empty and we were still there for almost two hours.
Lovely breakfast in this very chic French restaurant. Loved it and the food was superb.
Super loud, food took forever to come and it was salty. Service was terrible
The venue is beautiful! We sat inside for a bit, but asked to move to an outdoor table, since the environment outside was a bit more lively. The service was mediocre. The waiter was not attentive at all and even left midway through our meal without telling us that we’d have a new server. The food was also pretty subpar. I order a steak and eggs and for $29, it was the worst steak and eggs I’d ever eaten in my life. The steak and eggs were both bland and unseasoned. Unfortunate, the fries were the highlight of my dish. The cocktails were pretty good. I don’t think I’ll ever be back.
Burger was amazing, frittata was dry and needed seasoning.
My friends and I were looking forward to a lovely dinner and our experience turned out to be the opposite. The decor is so lovely and we were expecting as much effort to be put into our dining experience. The service was terrible and the food was unacceptable. My friend was scared to eat the mussels and I could not eat my steak. We were very disappointed and I really don't want anyone else to be fooled by the restaurant's appearance. The interior really is quite beautiful.
Recommending this place solely on the service at the bar. Had some great recommendations, and the most wonderful bartenders ever. Food was definitely good, but nothing too exciting that I couldn't have gotten else where. Beautiful space with a great outdoor seating option.
Poulet chasseur was sublime and the wine list was solid. A great place to sit outside in the summer.
You can never go wrong with Sauvage. They always receive you as if you were at home.
Great food, great style, lovely staff. Grab a spot outside if the weather is beautiful and you want the park-side energy, or opt for inside if you want to soak in all style, spirit and ambiance.
The food took a long time to come out, and once it did the portions were extremely small and very high priced. I was not a fan
One of the absolute best meals of my life. Such incredible service. Antonia was delightful and went above and beyond as did the rest of the staff. Will be back again soon!
SALT SALT SALT. And this is from someone who actually loves salty things, so it was overwhelming. Good thing, it's an easy fix!
I’ve eaten here a few times. I live the vibe, the cocktails and the food. We haven’t had a bad time there. Good for a special occasion or a drink at the bar.
This is my second visit and it did not disappoint! I love the quality of the food, the service and, of course, the ambiance.
Went for brunch and sat outside with my dog which was great! Everything was delicious. Service was a little slow with drinks as they came out after our meals but otherwise great brunch!
The decent interior design is the only positive point about Sauvage. The food is poor, and it is not worth a fraction of the price they charge. The selection of Drinks is mediocre. The staff though is attentive and helpful.
The food was delicious, the decor beautiful, the staff lovely—but it was much, much too loud!
We had such a lovely time here for my boyfriend’s birthday! Food and service were both great, especially the artichoke hearts, and the cocktails were beautiful. The hosts even went out of their way to help us get a backpack back after we’d left it behind - much, much appreciated. Thanks so much for a great evening!
It seems like they’ve got some kitchen issues. Our food arrived lukewarm. They were kind enough to remake, but it came out just a touch warmer than the first time. Cocktails were great, but took an obscenely long time to come to the table. Our server was great. Seems like a great lunch option, but definitely not worth checking out for a date night.
I usually love every bite at Sauvage but they were off tonight.
The skate was way too salty, the burger was dry, and steak chewy- I’m not sure what happened but I will be back because previous experiences have been amazing
It was a beautiful day so a friend and J decided to go to Sauvage for Brunch! Ion a vegetarian and go the gran bowl and it was delicious! They were accommodating and found us a table outside because I brought my dog, it’s a great place to get a bite to eat on a sunny day. Great for people watching and right across from the park!
Excellent service and food! Highly recommend it!
very nice sat outside
Had been before for brunch and much prefer brunch than dinner. The dinner menu is quite limited and very traditional French cuisine and pricey.
The food was delicious, but the bartender took a long time to get our drinks out. We didn’t get them until way after appetizers and the restaurant was empty. So other than that it was a great experience
Cured ham, beets, and fish were amazing. Pork was very salty though, did not enjoy it. Restaurant was great, seated us early! Service was quick.
Food is typical French bistro. Chicken was too salty and steak was very good. Wines by the glass are what you would expect - dull. Got noisy towards the end when a large group came to sit next to us.
We are from Long Island and we wanted to try something new in a new area we haven’t yet explored. I found This place on google and gave it a try for my fiancé bday. I had the mussels to start and they were big and tasty! Then I had the trout! It was full which is something I never usually get but it was filets so there were hardly any bones which was nice! My fiancé had the beef tar tar and the steak au puave , which were both tasty. The best part was the knowledgeable server we had. Her name was Betsy. She was able to tell us about all the wine they had by the glass bc I wanted white and he wanted red. She let us try the ones we were stuck on to see which we liked the best. She was pleasant through the entire meal.
Food was delicious. Next time I am in NY I will definitely go back to this restaurant.
Nice atmosphere, nice menu and attentive staff. After spending time recently in Europe, with more than acceptable glasses of wine at 4 and 5 euros, it was hard to go back to $10-$15 per glass back in NYC. Makes eating out less attractive
