There was meant to be a dress code of smart casual. Unfortunately there were two people with vest tops, another in shorts and trainers that spoilt the effect . Also the price advertise does not include service charges or VAT. So the bill was a lot higher than that on the web site and menu .

Beautiful setting, wonderful attentive staff. Food was delicious. A lot of money but we could have had more food if we' had been able to eat some more. Bottom line is, if you want to go for something like this be prepared to pay as you don't do it often. Loved every of it

A great experience with our granddaughter. The pasterie basket was a great start to breakfast. I had the ham and cheese omelet with vegetables and a side of potatoes, excellent. The orange juice was fresh squeezed. The server was extremely helpful and very sweet. Thank you for a great experience.

Firstly I’d like to say that I really appreciate the communication and accommodations that were made for dietary requirements that we notified The Savoy of beforehand - this was handled in a really pleasant and discrete manner. The issue comes to one particular server who we felt was often brusque and left us asking a few times for a second tea (over the course of two hours). Additionally, at exactly the two hour mark, the server came over and plonked the bill down saying “we need your table back and will box up your cakes” - we are completely sympathetic to the time slot given for tables but as we were enjoying ourselves and had not kept an eye on the time, we would have appreciated a 20-30 minute reminder before the end so we could speed things along. We then asked for our leftover cakes to be boxed up separately as we do not live together, and it transpires that 5 cakes were put into one box and one cake into the other, when we each had 3 left remaining. Each person’s cakes are put on a different shelf on the stand so we didn’t understand why this was done and we didn’t notice this until we were home. Overall it was not the experience we had hoped for but we appreciate the positive parts of our experience.

The Gallery lounge is very pretty and the live music was nice. The food was very good but standard afternoon tea fare at really elevated pricing.

I visited the Savoy for afternoon tea with my mother for her birthday. To say it was a disappointment would be an understatement… The tables are simply too small for purpose and throughout our dining experience, ourselves and the staff, played Tetris. Often grimacing as glasses, silver and crockery scrapped and smashed into one another. Even trying to lift a champagne flute proved difficult and unpleasant as it was trapped between everything else on the table. The selection of sandwich’s is poor and the sandwiches themselves were no better, I had to request some from the ‘children’s’ menu and even those left much to be desired (the cheese sandwich had thick bits of cheese in the middle, rather than an even layer throughout). Things did improve slightly, they served some lovely lemon curd with the scones. However, the scones were slightly bigger than the size of a £2 coin and smaller than the accompanying pots of cream, jam and genuinely lovely lemon curd. The pastries were lacklustre but perhaps my palate was not sophisticated enough to appreciate the abundance of mint in a dry and tasteless lemon drizzle cake. On top of this, there was a 15 per cent service charge. When paying a minimum of £90 per person for some tea, sandwiches and a few pastries you would expect to find at a buffet, it is reasonable to expect that encompasses the service charge. It is also something people should be aware of, especially if on a budget as you can expect to pay a minimum of over £100 per person because on this. I understand this review may seem overly critical but it really was mediocre at best as someone often frequenting the Savoy, I won’t be returning in a hurry if at all. If you want to indulge in afternoon tea, I would recommend anywhere else but here. That recommendation does include getting yourself a meal deal, a picnic blanket and inviting few mates to have a nice afternoon in a park nearby instead (it is exactly what we wish we had done).

An absolutely amazing experience. Antonia and Archie who looked after my granddaughter and me were kind and caring and exceptionally professional. They took time to explain everything to us and made what was a very special occasion for us into an experience my granddaughter will never forget. A huge thank you to them both. They were also extremely professional when I mistakenly thought I had pre-paid for afternoon tea and left when we had finished. Archie very calmly caught up with us and made us aware of our error. It could have been hugely embarrassing but he just laughed it off and said it happened all the time. Bless him, he handled it with finesse and I apologised profusely!

Absolutely dreamy experience. Able to accommodate gluten free so beautifully and seamlessly. My 8 year old son had a wonderful time as well. Certainly worthwhile. We will cherish the memory!
