We we’re booked in as a group of three for afternoon tea for a friends birthday. Service was good, though there was slight miscommunication due to a language barrier from the waitress, however she was very helpful and apologetic.
The food was delicious, it was great to have the warm starters, a real twist to afternoon tea. Plenty of food and majority of it very tasty and plentiful. We recieved a free bottle of Prosecco with our booking and this was great.
Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a slight alternative afternoon tea and would certainly go back myself.
This was a return visit because on my previous visit to the tea rooms I was so impressed I wanted to bring other friends and family back to experience the friendly staff and tasty food! I will be coming back again and again!
3 separate waiters involved in taking our order...which led to mistakes and detracted from the overall experience. Food not as nice compared to previous visit.
Heel vriendelijke ontvangst, lekker eten met telkens 2 keuzes te neme uit 6 voorstellen, warm en koud!
Fles prosecco inbegrepen
I had a wonderful afternoon tea with a friend at Scoff & Banter Tea Rooms. We spent 3 hours enjoying the great food, tea and Prosecco. I would recommend it!
The place was lovely but a very limited menu for vegetarians.
On arrival into S&B the room was not the "full" we were told by the Receptionists on our arrival into the hotel. I had made this booking for my daughter's 25th Birthday but I have to say I was disappointed by the whole ambience as half of the room was set for AT & the other half no tables made up so you felt you were in a room that was hired out for events not a specific quintessential Afternoon Tea room. Although staff were mostly attentive we we had to wait especially long for the Afternoon Tea which actually was given to the table next to us & my daughter overheard our order being told to the Girls next door & then she turned round to them & said she thought that was ours! The serviceware was pretty which reminded you that you were having AT & of course the bottle of Prosecco which was what I had booked for & was a good deal at £34 pp but tbh would I recommend? No..not when there are many more AT's out there. One good point the choice on the menu was very good & was tasty but really for us it was ok but not in our top 5 of AT's.
We had an amazing time
We came for my mums 50th birthday and the staff really made her day when they came out to wish her happy birthday with a cake.
Thankyou to all the staff and the food was amazing.
I have had a few afternoon teas in my life but this was by far the most wonderful! The staff were amazing and so attentive, the cakes looked beautiful, all of the food was delicious, everything was perfect and when the waitress found out it was my birthday, she brought me a bd dish in the end. Beautiful table, tea cups, pots and plates. 10/10!
Wonderful food but shockingly poor service.
So many things went wrong I have to do this as a list:
- Our reservation was for 1pm, we arrived on the dot at 1 to a completely deserted restaurant. The door was open so we went in, after five or ten minutes a waitress came in and seemed completely shocked to see us. After her initial confusion dissipated she checked our reservation and just left us to sit anywhere. They were absolutely unprepared and it was an incredibly weird atmosphere
- I was given a gluten free menu by the waiter, despite not being gluten free. I didn't notice right away and so nearly made the wrong choices
- I asked for Darjeeling tea, they were out so I opted for Ceylon. They said yes, but then came back and told me this was out too, so I opted for masala tea. The waiter brought something vanilla smelling which was certainly not masala tea. I said this is not what I ordered, and he said 'yes, white oolong?' I don't even know what oolong is, I never would have ordered it. He seemed annoyed and reluctant to change it
- Our cups and plates were dirty, had to ask them to be changed
- We asked for salt and pepper when the hot food came, as the lamb was under-seasoned, but this was never brought to us
- Nobody came to check on us during the meal
- Extremely variable service delivery between tables. For example, we saw the people on the table opposite have their chairs pulled out and napkins placed on their laps. Not that we wanted or needed this, but it was not offered for us
- Nobody was particularly friendly
All in all, a very disappointing experience on what should have been a special occasion. The food did save the day though, having a hot starter was a very new experience and the arancini was one of the best I've had. Similar the chicken caesar sandwich was exceptional, and the scones were delightfully fluffy. However far too many mistakes were made that hampered our enjoyment
We spent super cool tea time in London! And staffs were very friendly.
We had an amazing time celebrating my friends 30th birthday - the food was incredible and we really enjoyed the option of choosing the various elements of the afternoon tea which is rarely offered with other afternoon teas I have experienced. The staff the room and the china etc were all great and added to our experience - we can’t wait to come back!
My first experience of this branch of Scoff & Banter was 18 months ago and it was exceptional. I would have rated it 10/10+ and have been recommending it to everyone since.
So it is with a heavy heart that I won’t be doing it any longer.
My daughter and I booked for pre- theatre food on a Saturday night as a treat for my birthday. We had the full afternoon tea for £34 per person.
The menu is still very good a little bit different to your normal afternoon tea experience. But my oh my the waiting staff need to step up to the mark!
Previously the waiters we had were amazing, they were presentable, engaging and attentive they made the experience special and rememberable for all the right reasons.
This time the two waitresses, although polite, were very scruffy in the way they were dressed and gave the bare minimum to service us. Basically put the food on the table then disappeared to the back of the restaurant to do what I can only describe as rearranging the furniture for maybe the breakfast service for the following morning.
There was zero atmosphere with only one other table occupied to accompany the sound coming from the other end of the restaurant.
It might of been nice to have had some tasteful background music to elevate what turned out to be a very nondescript experience.
Unfortunately we will not be returning.
We had the afternoon tea + prosecco. Good choice of interesting dishes. The hot food, like tapas, came perfectly fresh - they passed the runny egg test. We were looked after very nicely by Maria who was welcoming and attentive without fussing us. It was Monday and the tea room was quiet. Good day to go. it felt like a classy private tea party. We completely enjoyed ourselves and felt thoroughly spoilt.
Criticism? The scones were not quite up to the standard of the rest of the food. not bad, but not great
Easy to find in the Radison Blu hotel just off Oxford Street. Nice decor and atmosphere. The staff were friendly but a little stressed, slow and forgetful. We arrived at 4pm, it was just over half full. Staff said they had been busy, serving a 100 people that afternoon- it can sit more than that if it was full. Booked in advance with the free Prosecco offer, I had to remind our waiter. Quality of food and drink was excellent. 2 hours for afternoon tea- don’t go if you are short of time. We left at 6pm, place was less than quarter full, lots of empty uncleared tables and they were turning people away!
Unfortunately had to abandon our afternoon tea after waiting for almost 2 hours. The first course came out and was delicious but over an hour after that we still hadn't had the sandwiches or cakes so decided to leave. The staff were lovely and didn't charge us but we wasted precious time waiting for what should be relatively quick food (no cooking).
It seemed like they had overbooked the tea rooms and couldn't cope with serving that many people. Real shame as for the price of it, it should feel like a luxurious experience.
There was a problem in the kitchen which meant we had an hour delay in the middle of our afternoon tea. During this time no-one asked if we wanted more drinks or came to explain the delay. The room was very hot which meant the jams and cream that had been brought out had started to melt.
We also got a free bottle of presecco with our booking which we had to ask for then prove with a booking confirmation even though there were posters everywhere promoting it.
The food was nice but the service was so bad we had to complain several times and asked for a discount off the bill. When this came the bottle of presecco had been charged and they had added service charge! We refused this and finally got a bill that was correct.
In the time we were there several tables left without paying because their food took so long to come and at one point there were no staff to be found. A group had to wait at the door for 20 minutes before someone paid any attention to them.
Overall it was a terrible experience which is a shame because it could be really good.
A group of us booked afternoon tea for a birthday celebration. The food was lovely and there was a generous amount of food with very pretty teapots, cups and saucers etc which we really liked.
We weren’t rushed (which was nice in one way!) - However on this occasion we would have liked the service to have been a bit faster. We were there early on in the afternoon before it got too busy and we ordered quite swiftly but we seemed to be there before most other guests and still there after most of them had been served and left. It was hard to find a member of staff at times (although when we did find them they were very friendly) but we had to ask several times when the next course was coming out. When the food did arrive, it didn’t arrive altogether so half of us were eating and the other half were waiting for their food to come out which was significantly later. That was a shame. The ham was also off he menu which was disappointing for some and the jam for the scones was very runny - like liquid.
The slow service meant we missed our cocktail slot at the sky garden which was disappointing.
fantastic afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings would definitely recommend here.
The food and service was exceptional. It was a unique afternoon experience because it was served with two hot dishes for starter. The choice of hot starters, sandwiches, scones and deserts was excellent and everything was fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an afternoon tea with a twist. The service was also excellent and the staff were very polite, welcoming and attentive.
We were hoping for a complimentary bottle of prosseco but was told the offer had ended however as we had to wait to be given the menus they gave us one anyway and we were very grateful. Lovely staff
Service was great, staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was even better - so many choices and loved the hot starter before they brought out the cake stand with the sandwiches and cakes on.
Nice ambience as not too big a place but difficult to find as we didn't realised it was in the Radisson Blu hotel - the address on the Open Table booking said 350 Oxford Street!
Price was reasonable too - we got a deal with afternoon tea and a complimentary bottle of prosecco for £34 each!
It was a great experience - I will definitely come again
We had afternoon tea. No ambiance, feels cold and soulless. The balsamic steak in sourdough was lovely, but all other savoury snacks/sandwiches were underwhelming. The scones were super small for some unknown reason - I’ve never seen this before. The clotted cream has to be sent back as it was visibly old and chunky. The waitress was confused and could not see the difference with the replacement clotted cream which had a better consistency.
So very disappointed with this. Was for a special occasion I was celebrating with my sister. We should have paid the extra £15 and gone to Fortnum and Masons which is absolutely faultless food and service.
A lovely and unique afternoon tea experience. Food and service were both outstanding. Would highly recommend.
Had a lovely afternoon tea with my daughter. Hot dishes were a lovely twist to a traditional afternoon tea.
Great for a relax afternoon tea. No stuffy dress rules and a very good price. Book before you go. Very restful compared to the outside bussle. Attentive staff . Enjoy escalopes to die for.
Very enjoyable afternoon tea with my daughter. There was a great choice and excellent service.
A nice twist on afternoon tea- service was excellent- comfortable surroundings- great value!!! Highly recommend!!
Food good although sandwiches a bit sparce 4no finger so half a sandwich.
Scones tiny too.
Service erratic no top up of tea had to ask. The picture is for two people
Lovely afternoon tea, service could have been better very slow waited 20 min before we got a drink and had to ask for a glass of water 3 times. Although the staff were friendly enough they where somewhat like headless chickens!! The food was delicious and it was very good value so I would go again and keep my fingers crossed that the staff had upped their game.
The experience and afternoon tea was amazing and the staff were very attentive and accommodating. There was an initial extremely embarrassing moment because when I booked I was sent an email to say I would receive a complimentary bottle of prosecco. The tea room were unaware of this.
It was a lovely place for 4 girls to get together and also celebrate a birthday. The service was really good and they made note of allergies. The choice of dish within the afternoon tea was great, choosing 2 from each section: hot plates, scones, and desserts. We also had complimentary prosecco too. Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea here.
Lovely food & great service. Great to able to choose items from the menu instead of set afternoon tea. Highly recommend!
Lovely afternoon tea! Service outstanding and food delicious. Will definitely return next time in London.
Really rude personnel. We didnt have a reservation and they had at least 6 free tables and wouldnt seat us, saying they are fully booked and sent us away. So we made a reservation online and went back in, they “all of a sudden” had a free table in a corner away from everybody. While waiting a waiter came to our table and told us our reservation included a bottle of free bubbly. So we sat there drinking and another waiter comes and tells us thats only included if we order a special something from the menue..so he took the bubbly away..while seated i asked why all the tables where still empty since they where soo “fully booked”..they made up some crap that all of their reservations just didnt show up! Never seen such rudeness anywhere, and i travel a lot! (We were also welldressed while going there so they had no real reason for rejecting any of us). I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE!!
Delicious afternoon tea. Great to have two hot starters - the scallops were perfect! The sandwiches were lovely, and so were the scones & the home made jam that came with them! Definitely recommend!
Came for my sister’s 22nd birthday and chose the afternoon tea option. We sat at the back and got a little bit forgotten. A genuine mistake which was noticed after not too long and rectified very quickly. The waiters apologised profusely and offered complimentary prosecco alongside a rose and a birthday dessert for my sister. Service from here on out was flawless and the food was really great. Would definitely return.
This was my second afternoon tea at Scoff & Banter. I went back because I enjoyed it so much the first time. The afternoon tea menu is quite unusual as it involves hot dishes and more choice than is usually offered whilst still maintaining the traditional elements of afternoon tea. The service is excellent. I recommend a visit!
The service started off a little shaky we had to wait for about 5 mins after being seated to get a menu then another 10 mins before they remembered to come take our order while other tables had already been served. After that they were very good and the food was wonderful, it was so different to be able to choose what you wanted also having a hot starter was really good. There was a wide choice of some very different sandwiches and cakes, enjoyed everything.
