Scotch Plains Tavern
Great food and ambiance. Love the building! First time there but will be back
Great environment, delicious food, nice menu (something for everyone), music good but after 7:00 pm music was so loud that we could not talk to one another without raising our voices. Maybe a should barrier between the band area and the dining to diffuse the sound some.
Ultimately, had a great time!
Hi I was very disappointed with our services there I came with a big party at 12:00 for lunch and needed to make it to dhow and when it came time to pay the server took six times to get our checks right for us to pay so that made us late for our show took over thirty minutes to pay for our meal.
The ambiance was beautiful and very clean but the waitress we had was awful unfortunately.. She had failed to mention any of the specials for the night and wasnt attentive to my husband and I. My husband was satisfied with his meal. My salad had a strange taste to the lobster in it. The waitress did however take it off the bill but I also went home hungry.
Great place to go for live music. Burgers and fries are excellent.
We had a wonderful early dinner (6 PM). Shared a platter of homemade chips and blue cheese dipping sauce as a starter. Sarah had an appetizer of crab and salmon cakes (with no filler). Ladies had very generous lobster salads and I had the Friday night prime rib special (a bit under flavored - for me).
Total bill, including a bottle of wine, one port and one dessert, was $164. A very reasonable price.
Ambiance is great - industrial style decorating. Two story with curved wood ceiling. Bar and game room are located on second floor, overlooking making dining room. Patio Dining is also available.
Great comfort food, warm atmosphere and friendly accomdating staff.
Recommend it !
Great place with predictably good food. Service by Tina was perfect. Happy they are open for early dinners.
Our server was very good. She knew the menu, made recommendations and was very attentive to us while there were serval large groups in the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
This was a really nice experience. The bartender was great. Sat outside and the firepits and heat lamps added a nice ambiance. The food was very good too. Hubby had the prime rib special and I had the dumplings and a flatbread margherita pizza. Everything was delicious.
Had the flat iron steak and a whiskey Manhattan. My friend also had the flat iron steak and a blackberry mint bourbon smash. The drinks were good , well crafted and presented. The steak was ordinary, not exceptionally. Friend ordered medium well, the steak came out medium rare. They offered to throw it back on the grill and when it came back it was more done. The food was not hot, it was warm. Recooking a cooled down steak is not optimal. They did not offer or take any money off from the bill. It’s one thing if the steak just came off the grill but it was already too cool. The waitress and service was great. Total spent with tip $100. Definitely not worth it.
The bar makes great drinks!! Seafood Choppino was good but too much sausage and not enough fish, please add another piece of crostini bread and add some scallops. Hangar steak was tender and very tasty.
Strawberry dessert was serve way to warm.
Waiter Owen was great!!! Very personable and efficient!! Couldn't book table for 10 on OpenTable, but called and "Kim" set us up! Perfect evening- drinks, food and ambiance!! Repeat visit for our group, highly recommend!!
We went to celebrate my husbands birthday, food was excellent, so was the service... can’t wait to go back!
Amazing meal. Quick service. Great atmosphere. We will come again!
Awesome food and live entertainment a very fun evening!
Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was prepared well and served promptly. Everyone enjoyed their appetizers - wings, calamari and flat bread pizza - although it was a bit soggy it was still pretty good. The meals - fish and chips, burgers, and soups, were all good. One guest ordered a salad that was either over-dressed or wet/wilted but tasted good. The server immediately offered to change the order but all was good. We will be back.
Nicely remodeled facility and wide range of interesting menu choices. Service was prompt and attentive but seemed new and not terribly knowledgeable about the menu. Problems arouse with the entree where we had ordered a goat cheese, arugula, carmelized onion and fig flatbread. We love figs and the combination sounded yummy. Unfortunately the entree arrived with no discernible indication of figs in any way. Couldn’t see them, smell them, or have any sweet taste associated with figs. We made our waiter aware and after a visit to the Chef came back and said the figs were “carmelized in there”. This not only seemed to be untrue but insulted our intelligence. We reasserted that there were no figs but they were insistent that we just missed it. No recognition of our dissatisfaction and no offer to not charge or a free drink or something. I felt disrespected, it was bad business and I won’t go back nor would I suggest anyone else go there. Too bad.
We have always had delicious meals here and the menu is large and varied. The service has always been excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Great atmosphere our server was very good and attentive and the food was amazing no complaints from out table of 6
Food was excellent . Nice atmosphere. Drinks were very weak but good. Will return and recommend.
We had a party of 12 on Father’s Day and the service was fantastic! Meals were delicious and the timing of everything was perfect!
Excellent burger and fries. Did not try anything else on the menu. Great place if you like pub food and live music on Friday night.
My fried calamari was under cook my steak was overcooked and my wife’s cord on blue she was dissatisfied
Would recommend this restaurant but you may want to specify your seating preference for the hostess staff. Food and table service was very good but we were seated at a table for two sandwiched very tightly between two other tables. Not an issue if the restaurant is crowded at peak times. This was an early Saturday evening and other tables throughout the first floor were available when we arrived and were still available when we left. With our advanced reservation, we would expect more comfortable seating.
Always a wonderful Taco Tuesday at SPT!
Went with my wife and son. Had never been and the place is beautiful. Good was good and our server did an outstanding job
Great place for meeting up with friends for drinks, not the best for a quieter dinner. It’s fairly noisy but the vibe is upbeat!
This was our first visit, and were in town for a show at the Ivoryton Playhouse.
The server was great- despite a foot cast, he was zipping around back and forth and was polite and attentive. The food was very good- I had the goat cheese and fig flatbread- my only complaint was that the description made it seem like there were actual figs on the flatbread, but in fact it was just a" fig drizzle" ( per the server) It was still very tasty.
My husband really enjoyed his chicken cordon bleu. We also liked the carrot cake and crème brulee for dessert.
Will definitely be back !
We ordered 2 hand-crafted cocktails that were both excellent.
We also ordered the Argentinian beef w/plantains to share as an appetizer and it was quite good.
I then ordered the 1/2 Reuben and 1/2 Pastrami but think it was all intermingled though not positive but it was very tasty.
My wife ordered the Fried chicken sandwich, it was ok though dry and the portion of chicken was small compared to the bun and accompaniments.
Our waitress was excellent and very attentive.
We would certainly return when back in the area.
Another great Taco Tuesday! Great features on the rotating beer list.
The chicken lemongrass dumplings were to die for! The accompanying sauce was Fantastic. The stuffed chicken, the surf & turf and even the hamburger were all delicious. They made my Mother’s Day!
We have eaten at Scotch Plains Tavern four times since it first opened. To be honest, at first, we were "underwhelmed" with the quality of the food. To our delight, however, the past three meals we've enjoyed there have been very good. The sandwiches and burgers have been delicious! The wait staff has been consistently pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant is also good at accommodating dietary restrictions, which our family appreciates. We will definitely visit again.
Awesome atmosphere, superb service and even better meals.
Awesome place with great food
Nice place and food was good but if you're looking for quiet make sure you eat before the band starts playing on Friday or Saturday nights as the music resonates into the dining room below making conversations difficult.
I will certainly return to enjoy the spacious and beautiful bar upstairs. It has a separate room for pool and shuffle board and a good stage for live music and dancing. I'll make sure that i will have eaten before coming to be independent of the kitchen and table service.
Another great visit to SPT. Got to try the new spring menu and was very pleased.
Entree came out a little too fast (hadn’t finished cocktail), but it was a theatre night so I can appreciate they are trying keep the service moving. Noise level from bar above was a bit too much. Otherwise excellent.
I heard reservations were needed for this restaurant and figured we would try it. I had the prime rib which had no seasoning and was not as tender as it should be. The appetizers were ok and dessert was especially disappointing. The atmosphere is fine and the service was excellent. Unfortunately good service does not make a mediocore food better.
