What Insiders Are Saying
Sea Containers is the very cool-looking restaurant inside the Mondrian Hotel. It’s great for breakfast and lunch meetings, and group dinners.
Service was fantastic. I opted for the bottomless prosecco and my glass was topped frequently enough that I didn't notice it was empty! Food was stunning!
Absolutely incredible, service was amazing, as was the food and the location. We were seated immediately and looked after by Michael, who was attentive and delivered impeccable service. A real asset to a brilliant team.
The restaurant and settings was perfect. I was recommended by the waiter to have the monkfish and I had it with mash , spinach & chips. The waiter was very attentive but not forceful. The food was bar far the best at the highest standard I could not fault this restaurant at all and I have been to a lot of other high standard restaurants to. I would definitely recommend coming here and will definitely be coming back myself.
Too much noise, stuck in a corner, service & food wasn’t too great.
We had the best brunch thanks to the amazing service we had. The food was great and when we had mentioned that we were celebrating, the staff went above and beyond to give us a really special experience. I would definitely recommend Sea Containers as a brunch spot to friends and would put it up there as one of my favourite I have had in London.
Food was fine and service was friendly.....main problem was just how quick everything came. Dinner was £200 for 2 and we could have been in/out in 30 mins.
They tried to bring fries with the starters and then the second the last morsel of the starter had entered my.mouth, my plate was cleared and the mains borough. No time to relax, chat and enjoy the ambience. Too rushed.
In General the food was average, had the chicken for two which was a very large portion and could not be finished whilst the sides were so small. Chicken was not bad but just dry and all a little plain. Had expected more. Staff were average. On leaving no one said thanks for coming in fact I had to say to them thank you for having us on my way out.
Would not return nor recommend. There are many other restaurants that fantastic food and service when you are in this price bracket. Disappointing. Setting was nice though and the hotel has a funky decor. Shame the restaurant is not elevated so you have views of the river rather than views of people walking along the river
Nice location, nice food, shame about the service.
The location is absolutely perfect. The food was very tasty. There was a great atmosphere , probably because it was Valentines. Nice decor etc.
However, the down sides were quite considerable.
The staff on the arrivals podium were very slapdash and chaotic. Took our coats in a pile somewhere. Shown to our table and the left there.
The tables and chairs were so close, we may as well have joined the couples either side! The staff kept bumping into us EVERY time they walked between the tables and they did that a lot!
Eventually our waiter showed up but was so miserable ( possibly harrassed as it was busy) and , despite our attempts to engage him with him to lighten the mood, he never changed his attitude. The boss man came by a few times ( bashing into our chairs) to ask how the food was and we told him good.
We did not feel it was appropriate to leave £17 tip so, being gracious we left £7. This was really far too much considering the terrible service we had had but hey ho, thats how we roll.
When we had collected our coats , the waiter chased after us to say we had underpaid! We explained the tip was discretionary and he was lucky to have got £7. He went off and that was that. No manager came or was interested.
Lovely location and venue and most of the food was great, but the whole chicken we ordered to share was not amazing. The sides accompanying it were spot on, though. Our waiter was a lovely guy and very friendly but not great at the job or very attentive and we had to ask for stuff rather than him taking subtle reminders.
Great setting, but menu is fairly uninspiring. Would return for a drink, but wouldn't dine again.
We went for lunch so therefore I can’t comment on the ambience as the restaurant was practically empty, although the space and design looks great the location is great and the service is faultless especially the Spanish waiter who served us on the 14th of February for lunch . We will return for dinner, the only negative The glassware needs improving it’s a little basic and also the use of plastic straws which is a bit disappointing When lots of venues now returning to paper straws
I would definitely recommend it for a drink, the interior is lovely, the staff are delightful - clearly chosen for personality and charm and the cocktails are great. The food in the restaurant however, is rather bland; which is a shame as we had a timeout voucher so they must struggling for custom.
It has a very strange menus that wasn’t explained properly! It’s basically a sharing menu with only a couple of dishes that could be ordered for one person.
We were told to sit by the window, which was cold. I asked to move to a table that was about 2 meters away & they told us that sects was closed. After a long discussion with the manager & explaining that we were there to celebrate mine & my friends birthday they eventually let us move! They just need to be a bit more accommodating with customers!
Beautiful designed hotel, lovely bar area.
A lively location, which initially gives the impression of high end cuisine and good service. However the brunch was overpriced and second rate: cold fried eggs, dubious looking smoked salmon bagel that wouldn't cut even when given a sharper knife and a hot pot that was little more than a cream sauce. Really disappointing- will not be returning.
Disappointed with our visit to Sea Containers this last Sunday for a celebratory weekend brunch. The food was great and fairly good value, but the service left much to be desired. We only had the table booked for two hours, which is fine, but fifteen minutes went by after our mains had been cleared and no one had even made eye contact again with the table, we had to flag someone down to try to order coffee and ask if there was a dessert menu. There were no delays in bringing us the bill the moment the two hours were up (despite clearly not quite finished), which we didn't mind but then again took fifteen minutes to flag someone down in order to pay. Had to ask someone if a cloak room was available as this was not offered, also wasn't shown to the table where my party was sat when I arrived a little late. Just a bunch of little things that generally made us feel unwanted (e.g. one of our party tried to flag down a server to get a knife, was briskly told to wait and then ignored for a bit), which is a shame because the food was good, but I won't be coming back. I can get just as good food and much better service elsewhere for the same price.
Our service was excellent from start to finish. We had a lovely waiter who even brought a little birthday cake out for my friend (linked to our stay at the hotel I assume, as we didn’t mention it at brunch). He was very observant, swiftly refilling our bottomless bubbles, polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Could have enjoyed it more!
Overall an excellent experience but definite room for improvement in a few specific areas:
Vegetarian options are mediocre, lack flair and not nutritious as they could be in terms of protein. Orzo or Gnocchi does not really push the boat out. The gingerbread cheesecake was very disappointing. We gave feedback on the dessert and our waiter was great, he said he would replace and we went with ac round of complimentary coffees instead
There was an offputting moment when we were checking in at front of house fur our table. The waitress due to show us to our table leant across to colleague talking to us and whispered in her ear whilst we were talking. Not Professional, felt the waitress had a rude attitude in being comfortable doing that to a client. Might have been a sensitive mid-read of the situation from mr but I have traveled extensively and eaten at 100s of upmarket places so my expectations are high. All other staff we interacted with were excellent.
This was a second visit and I would return after checking if the veggie menu had an injection of imagination. Thank you.
The location and decor was excellent. It was just what we had hoped for. However the food and service was terrible. Our waiter was attentive but the welcome staff were plain rude. We were told very abruptly to wait for 20 minutes on arrival - we had arrived a little early. We had booked dinner for a celebratory birthday meal.
Some meals were ridiculously overpriced for what they were. We were expecting the cost but for the food to be of a certain level. One guest had the flatbread which was not justifiable as a meal. Even water was £6.00 for a bottle of Evian. Some meals were adequate but not what we would expect from the pricing.
The only good part of the meal was the bread and butter. To be honest I have had a better meal in Pret.
My meal came out wrong initially. I was just told sorry and during the time for my meal to be sent out correctly two of the other guests had finished eating. We were not offered anything to make up for this.
I will definitely not be recommending to anyone.
I eat out for pleasure regularly and have never had a disappointment like this.
We finished the meal and paid and left promptly.
It was great! Lovely food, good service, perfect setting, a five star experience
I would recommend it if the service was good. Great food and atmosphere however very upset about the service.. Very poor, unfortunately. We had to ask the hostess if we could give to her our coats and no one came back to us to give us the tickets even when she said " I will be right back with the ticket number" No server connection, and once we ordered We ask to have bread to start while waiting for the sharing ribs. Guest what!? The ribs arrived first than the bread and I had to ask twice to get it. We finished the mains and waited for so long until someone decided to clean the table., In the mean time we have had to ask again twice to see the dessert menu. All night I looked at the table next to us ( 4 ladies ) and honestly the level of attention was completely different.. I wished I was them.!!! We paid almost £200 which I have no problem of paying but not when you feel despised..
Nice venue, but average food quality and overpriced for what you get. An evening a la carte menu would be good.
Really enjoyed it - food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
This is always a safe bet with great service and tasty dishes. There's something for everyone.
Was a lovely bottomless brunch. Tasty food and good drinks. Our waiter was superb, super friendly and very attentive all while the venue was quite full. Always looked out for our drinks and we never needed to ask for refills ourself. Unfortunately I forgot his name but we sure will be back and hope he will be there again :)
Great restaurant fab location
Would absolutely recommend this to everyone. Beautiful space with great food and a really relaxed atmosphere with friendly and attentive service
Came for brunch with a friend and left very disappointed..
Firstly, what a horrible coffee! Watery and tasted like instant nescafe...
SeaContainers, if you are doing a brunch menu, firstly get your coffee right. I ordered cappuccino and my friend had american - both tasted awful...
I ordered avocado on toast and expected a decent dish for £17 (excl eggs). When it arrived I was very underwhelmed it just look 'meh' with not even a salad on the side.
I rdered additional poached eggs for £3 extra to go with avo on toast and they came on a separate (way too big) plate sliding around. Not only failing on on the visual front but also the eggs were cold..
My friend ordered a salmon bagel and had to get a steak knife to cut it through as it was stale and solid like a stone...
Overall save your money and go elsewhere if you appreciate quality brunch.
Average, for good seafood go to Wright bros
The restaurant and bar were very nice, great decor and service. However I wasn’t that impressed by the food, even though the presentation was well delivered the actual taste didn’t meet my expectations.
Food came out worryingly fast. Told we couldn’t sit in a practically empty bar without a reservation. Wine list is extortionate for content.
A lovely sharing menu and wine flight. Dietary requirements were taken into consideration and there was flexibility on the day. A lovely experience, will return.
This place is great! The ambience is very cool, nautical themed but some in a very elegant manner. It has a very relaxed feel to it. We went there as part of a tasting menu offer on the Riverview menu which was very competitively priced. We were sat by the window which had a view of St Pauls and the river Thames which was spectacular! The food was incredible! All of it tasted amazing, packed full of flavour and you could definitely tell the food was super fresh. The presentation was also very well done. Service of the staff during dinner was excellent, but lost 1 star as we had to accompany the maitre’d to the cloakroom to get our bags. They weren’t tagged together despite having a cloakroom ticket for the bags. It’s a small point but I would have expected better given how superb everything else was. I would definitely come back here again in a heartbeat!
There was no atmosphere as we were the only ones there.
We ordered the ribs. They are £68 so expensive and it was just a slab of meat virtually uncooked. Not good quality meat and so disappointing.
Diego was absolutely amazing and our little girl is a good judge of character. He was very attentive and friendly. Been here a few tines and the bottomless brunch is the reason why. Nice, friendly, relaxed and adult atmosphere. No drunks!!! Def be back again
The service was awful (almost non-existent). We booked for breakfast, only to be told on arrival that their breakfast menu is not available on weekends. The view is overrated; there is a large fence in the way even if you sit by the window. Never again...
Great location with a view of the Thames.
We had a Sunday breakfast which was a buffet and it was great value for money with lots of quality options. My wife and 1 daughter are vegetarians and there was plenty of choice for them too!!
Very modern new restaurant. Nice interieur und friendly staff. Good and high quality food. Not cheap but still worth the money. Lovely view across the river themse
Lovely evening, the ceviche tacos were to die for!!! ❤️❤️❤️
We went for my mum's birthday for a bottomless brunch. It was really really loud, however that should be expected for a bottomless brunch. The restaurant was very busy, however the service was not affected at all. I really value good service, and this was one of the best. Glasses never got below a third down before being refilled (refills as bottomless can be a problem).
Food was fab and had alot more options than a traditional brunch - the roast was huge and so worth it.
I would 100% go back.
We booked this restaurant for bottomless brunch for my friends birthday and it was incredible. The service from Michael was outstanding and he never stopped smiling! Highly recommended. The only thing that was annoying was the drinks were stopped by someone around 20 mins prior to us having to give the table back so would have been nice for them to explain why this was or have some advanced warning it wasn't bottomless and they cut you off at a certain amount of drinks.
