This was the second time I've been to Sea Containers and my girlfriend's first experience. We went for our fifth anniversary as I'd thoroughly enjoyed the experience with my parents for a Christmas Eve dinner previously. It was very busy on this occasion, although we were seated very quickly with a window table (as requested). Our waiter was very polite, professional and considerate. We waited slightly longer than was comfortable for our starters and mains, but we were regularly kept informed by the staff of the chefs' progress which kept us calm. When the food came, it was nothing short of sublime and totally made up for the waiting time. We didn't stay for dessert as we were stuffed and wanted to move on elsewhere for cocktails. Regardless of any shortcomings on this particular visit, I would emplore anyone to visit the Sea Containers. In terms of cuisine on the famous South Bank, it is second to none. I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and making our anniversary a special one to remember!

Not the worst I’ve been to, but certainly not the best. The waiters were quite inattentive and we had to wait over 5 minutes every time we asked for something. The food was average, I ordered the calamari and asked the waiter if I needed to order a side with it. He said it would be better to, but the dish certainly didn’t need a side as it was a bean stew with calamari in it. Wouldn’t go back, as the atmosphere was also lacking and I wouldn’t call it a memorable experience.

Waiting staff need better training. We were early and asked if we could try the bar. Downstairs called upstairs for us and told us it was fine and directed us to the lifts. We went upstairs to be told without a booking we couldn't have a drink. We went back downstairs and the waiter apologised and told us to find a table outside and he would give us special service to make up for it. We never saw him again. We ordered the house champagne and said we wanted a glass rather than a bottle. There were 2 of us. 1 glass duly arrived! We confirmed our restaurant booking to the new waiter and explained we were early and could he keep our table whilst we sat in the bar area. When the time came to eat, he had forgotten about us and I had to repeat the booking so he could find us on the system and confirm we had arrived. Our new table waiter was distracted numerous times during taking our order by colleagues asking for advice/where to serve dishes. Our wine was left in a bucket away from us, but never topped up, and when the waiter saw me doing it myself, said nothing. The food is nice, but you're paying for the venue and the view. It was meant to be a birthday treat, but the experience was frustrating.

Food was ok, expensive for what it was but with a location so beautifully on the south bank it was always going to be. However it was severely let down by the service. They almost seemed to be snobby and unless you were ordering bottles of champagne you were largely ignored. They removed our wine so that they could pour it but kept forgetting to return to our table so it took forever to finish. They attended the table next to us 4 times whilst we tried to get desert (originally, then we gave up and just got the check).

Overall a pretty poor experience

I have been Sea Containers previously and for a hotel facility it is 5 stars however this is the first time I attended the restaurant and the food wasnt great and slightly overpriced - The ribs were drenched with a tomato sauce, the mac and cheese was warm and lacking flavour and the Steak was warm and rare

Main points: Very attentive with the bottomless and food but dirty glasses and anything outside of the usual was a bit pear shaped: we arrived on time but were told to wait elsewhere and a member of staff would get us. This information was not passed on; we eventually went back to the restaurant ourselves (15mins after our initial reservation) and the on -shift staff hadn't been passed the message, actually got a bit shirty when we asked if anyone was going to come get us. Then the birthday cake we had requested (which was reconfirmed a couple days ahead) didn't come. I did mention my disappointment to the staff and asked that they can resolve this when we moved to the bar next door, Lyaness. This was done and the service was great there. All in all, just enough annoying elements to make sure I won't be back - far too many other places in London

I’ve been before but the last visit was disappointing. A waitress went to get a pepper mill and she never returned. Waiters failed to top up the tap water. Guys, if you’re not going to leave a bottle of tap water on the table, keep an eye on the water level in the glasses. Waiting 10-15m to flag a waiter down every time is not a fun way to spend the evening.

Vegetarian options are paltry. There’s the obligatory pasta dish but that is it. It was lovely, but £18 for a bowl of pasta. With some vegetables in it. No meat. Compares badly to the prices of meat dishes on the menu.

The noise level was unbearable, having to shout at each other to be heard. The staff in charge of the seating we’re not very helpful and lacked customer service. Requests to sit in a quieter area were frowned upon and we were told that the service could not be guaranteed and would take longer. No problem with the waiters or the food. Would not visit again!

Excellent venue with a gorgeous long bar, and very welcoming bar staff. The food was good and good value, although one couldn't mix and match on the menu. Menu wasn't coherent. Service was slow considering it wasn't full and there were plenty of staff - wine was not constantly topped up and the waiter had only a fair grasp of English. Wine at £45 - £65 per bottle, wasn't anything special. Price for 4 - £350.

Lovely restaurant, quite a small menu but varied. Service was quite slow seeing as the restaurant didn’t seem particularly busy, 15-20min wait for drink order to come out which meant they arrived more or less after we had eaten our main course.

Lovely food with many different options.

The service in the restaurant was attentive, thanks to Stellianos!

I would return as the ambience was great - upbeat, relaxed and not trying too hard to be something it isn't.

We went for cocktails after at Lyaness (part of the same hotel) - ideal setting, and the cocktails were amazing! On the downside, our waiter was a bit too cool for school in a Shoreditchy type way (no eye contact, no smile, no chat, bit surly) which was a shame. But this is not a review about the Lyaness so....

I look forward to my next dinner at Sea Containers :)

Everything started off really well - great venue, great food choice, attentive service with the bottomless prosecco but half way through our main the service went really poor. We asked for more water about 5 times, our waiter offered to get us more prosecco but it never arrived, our dirty plates didn’t get cleared for 30 mins and then we asked to see the dessert menu about 4 times. We finally got the dessert menu but by that time we just wanted to leave so then tried to get the bill which also took forever. I really liked this brunch and would still recommend it but I don’t know if the waiter had too many tables or whether he was new but the service was so bad! After we went next door to Lyan ness and the service was amazing so ended up having cocktails and prosecco there.

Went for dinner for my husbands birthday - had a lovely table by the window, gorgeous view over the river.
Food was delicious, great recommendations from our waiter.
Only downside was once we paid, we felt they couldnt get rid of us fast enough - a little disappointing after a lovely (and not cheap) meal. But overall the service was great and we had a great night.

The food was amazing would recommend to most people with a refined palette. Service was not the best, I was dining with a friend and she had a glass of champagne spilt on her. As much as they apologised it was not good enough and I was highly dissatisfied. I would have expected some sort of discount as they ruined her Burberry trousers.

The food was very nice, and the lovely smell of truffle in the air made me want to try everything with truffle on it!! We started with some starting dishes and flatbreads to share. The flatbreads were delicious, but quite crispy which meant the loose toppings tended to fall off, which made awkward eating. I followed this with a cheeseburger which was incredible. It seems wrong just to call it a cheeseburger! My companions had the squid, the salmon and the skirt steak, and all of them polished off their dishes and seemed suitably impressed. The ambience was a little off because it was so loud with music and voices that I found it difficult to hear even those I was sitting beside! But the staff were lovely and sufficiently attentive, without being ever-present. The wine list was good, but the lower priced range needed to be lower still in my view. £353 for five of us including service made this a treat, but quite pricey for what we had - good job the cheeseburger was no ordinary cheeseburger!

Great ambience and location overlooking the river. The food looked nice, but tasted very bland. Everything was disappointingly underseasoned. Scallops were overcooked and rubbery and didn’t taste fresh. Even the martini was blah. Sad I spent £45 on a mediocre meal. Would not return.
