Seasons Restaurant Edinburgh Ratings and Reviews
Had the 7 course tasting menu (chose a pesactarian option). The service was excellent - attentive but not obtrusive. Staff explained all the fabulous dishes with detail and enthusiasm. Found each dish to be a culinary surprise and I would say that for the price the quality was outstanding. Fresh ingredients abound and the idea of not having a fully descriptive menu makes each dish interesting and different. Hard to fault the service and having previously had the 5 course menu I can heartily recommend this establishment. Long may they flourish and I wish them every success. I look forward to coming back again when I visit Edinburgh again. Compared to London prices and given the standard it very impressive.
A superb dining experience from beginning to end. Waiters were both knowledgeable and friendly. I have already recommended this restaurant to my son and a good friend, both foodies.
I'll be back!!!!
PS....food excellent with added bonus of delicious homemade sourdough breads with absolutely divine butter......
We met friends for Sunday lunch. The staff were very attentive & suggested we try the 4course surprise menu. They catered for each person's likes & dislikes & recommended appropriate wines to accompany it. There were no left overs and we all enjoyed it & agreed we would return.
Unfotunately this place seems to be a very well kept secret otherwise there surely would have been more people there .
This is an EXTREMELY good place to eat.
We had the full 7-course tasting menu with matching wines.
The food arrived exactly at the right time, there was no rush but also no long waits.
IT WAS DELICIOUS!
Portion sizes of food and wine were perfect for a 7-course meal.
The waiting staff were engaging and very knowledgeable about the dishes.
The sommelier REALLY knows his wine, and did a superb job.
We had a magical experience in what is a young, happening restaurant.
Generally an outstanding experience. Sadly we were the only customers on a late November Friday lunchtime although we were reassured to hear that they were due to be busy later that day and over the weekend. We were seated at a table in the front section of the restaurant in the window. I can understand why but perhaps not the most comfortable area. The main seating area in the rear looks much nicer. Never mind. The food. The bread and home made butter was excellent quality. The starters were the low point of the meal....neither hit the mark. Had to have mushrooms removed from one starter - an allergy - and this was after reminding the waiting staff that we had informed them when booking. A pity. From that point on it was very positive. We had opted for the paired wines and they all proved to be good matches for the food. My highlight was a delicious cod dish featuring pan fried purple potatoes, no risk of style over substance here. Wonderful balance of flavours and textures, the lemon gel provided an interesting and worthwhile contrast.
I felt the meal was real value for money and they clearly have chefs in the kitchen who have a clear view of what they are trying to achieve.
Excellent experience, took full note of our dietary requirements and the restaurant called me the previous day to confirm. Price was outstanding for the fresh and original combinations of flavours and delightful ingredients. Exemplary attention to detail and great service. I would highly recommend this establishment and I wish them much success.
Fabulous food - found restaurant on the internet - what an absolute hidden gem. Staff were exceptional and the ambience was just lovely. Really enjoy going to restaurants with tasting menus and this one is definitely one I would go back to. Had the 7 course taster menu with wine and I couldn't fault a thing. A great experience putting your trust in a chef to deliver such innovative and amazing tasting food. Have recommended to friends and will definitely be going back soon.
My friend and I dined here on a Saturday evening and we were both totally blown away!
Upon sitting down, you are presented with the list of ingredients and asked if you would like the 5 course or 7 course menu. Each course is a surprise, delivered and presented by the knowledgeable and courteous team.
We opted to order a bottle of the Hungarian Chardonnay instead of the matches wines as my dining companion isn’t a huge red fan, the wine was delicious. While the wine list is not extensive it is very well selected. We opted for the paired desert wine which were so delicious! Our waiter even went on to write down the wines for us, as well as recommending wine bars we may like to visit.
I’m looking for the next opportunity to get back to Seasons ASAP!
Thanks for a truly memorable dining experience.
Gave this restaurant a try for Sunday lunch. They had an offer of three courses for £15. Food was exceptional for the price. Portion size perfect. Anton was a gentleman and provided three great wines that complimented the food very well. We are very happy to have discovered Seasons and will be back.
Nailed it - A perfect seasonal lunch with interesting, well sourced ingredients that were imaginatively combined and cooked to deliver an exceptional experience. The service was well pitched, the wine list was creative and the ambience enjoyable and relaxing.
The food was good, however, the matched wines were VERY hit and miss (sadly, more misses than hits)... a couple of winners, but overall, don't take their pairings. Sadly, they actually have appropriate wines on their wine list AND in line with the price of the wines chosen. In summary, the food was good (although 2 deserts (and a teaser on chocolate and then it's I've cream and apricot sorbet)?? Why?!); if you know what you're doing, select your own wines from the list.
Fantastic lunch at Seasons this Saturday whilst in Edinburgh for the Fringe. Every course was amazing as was the wine flight that accompanied. Exceptional value, will be returning for the evening tasting menu. Highlights included the moist chicken supreme and the apricot dessert containing the mini crème brulee.
Excellent Food, Excellent Service, Exceptional Value.
The SEASONS is a unique restaurant. A GEM. The food was a gastronomic delight. The staff welcoming .The chef truly talented. A MASTER CHEF indeed. The presentation was an art form and the food he produced from the chosen ingredients were innovative, exciting and flavours mmmm so well balanced. Everything cooked to perfection My husband and I have dined in many good restaurants here and abroad. We love good cuisine but the Seasons surpasses them all. Cannot enthuse enough about this restaurant. Well done chef. We wish you continued success. It will be worth re visiting Edinburgh if just to dine at the Seasons again
You have to try Seasons! Fantastic dining experience for two vegetarians - probably the best I've had in Edinburgh so far, which is good going for a restaurant that isn't exclusively veggie. It was perfect for a birthday surprise meal.
We went for the five course menu and a bottle of wine, which was good value compared to other Edinburgh restaurants of this calibre. They don't have a set menu; you get a list of ingredients, tell the staff what you like (or don't like as I did), and they make up some dishes accordingly. The chef(s) displayed creativity and expertly matched flavours. I was excited for every round and not a single one disappointed! The staff member working on the floor was really friendly and seemed knowledgeable about the dishes too. We were really impressed and look forward to visiting again.
Regarding atmosphere, there weren't many other diners in on this weekday evening, which suggests it's still a place to be discovered. The front of the restaurant perhaps gives the impression that there's not much going on when it isn't busy, as the main dining room is around the back and the front mostly seems to be a pre-dinner drinks area. I really wouldn't let that put you off.
