Shea's Riverside Restaurant & Bar
Giant windows and wonderful view of the river and salt marshes. Very wide menu, and not completely dominated by clams and seafood! Giant bar, large deck and at least three fireplaces; so it's cozy in any weather or season.
A great place for a quiet lunch- wonderful views, attentive service and delicious foods. Try the mussels appetizer.
We love Shea's! Food is always great and the service is consistently outstanding. In the summer, the views of the river are phenomenal.
Food and service were excellent. All four diners cleaned their plates. Only negative was where we were seated, which was in a brightly lit hidden upstairs area with only four tables. View may have been nice during the day, but at night all you saw were dark windows. Hostess said all other tables were reserved because it was Valentines Day, but we also had a reservation. We will go back for the delicious food but will know to request a table in a different area.
We have dined at Shea's many time and continue to do so because the food and service are excellent, the staff are great and the view is beautiful. We also particularly enjoy the Sunday Brunch, the best Eggs Benedict I've had anywhere.
This was probably our 15th visit to Sheas over the years. Same old...same old...great cuisine, warm but not over attentive service...whether in the dining room or on the deck. The view is always the cherry on top!
I was really looking forward to dining here as I have heard great things. It started out fine. We ordered drinks and some chowder. The chowder was delicious. I tried to order a glass of wine and they didn’t have what was on the menu, which I found a bit weird. My husband got the special which was a seafood casserole. He enjoyed it. The other 3 of us got the filet mignon and it was just ok. It really didn’t have any flavor. It came with Lyonnaise potatoes and asparagus. There were 4 slices of potato and 4 pieces of asparagus. Neither was very flavorful. For $38 a plate, I expected a better dinner.
The server was good. She seemed a little confused and asked us if we would like another drink after we had already ordered one. Her response was that it was probably sitting at the bar.
For $317 for 4 people, of which only 2 had 2 cocktails, was a bit pricey to not have great food and service. Will not be back.
Service was great. Prices abit high. Portions a bit small.
I was there with a group of people, so I don’t think our server wanted to bother us much. But we ended up waiting a long time for our food to come out and to be asked what we would like for drinks and food. That was really the only downside, as the food and drinks ended up being quite good.
Good food, great ambiance
It was nice there. The service wasn’t. We were celebrating a big birthday and actually would have got dessert, but the server just dropped off the check and went away. She never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. I thought they didn’t have dessert maybe. Soon after I saw great desserts being served a few tables away. Disappointing. It’s very nice there and the food was great. The view was perfect.
Excellent food, friendly atmosphere, gorgeous view.
We were given a more secluded table in the corner of the restaurant and thought we could still hear the bar patrons quite a bit, the ambiance was lovely. Since we are staying at the Inn and have been in contact with Gayle, they knew it was our anniversary and wished us a happy anniversary and gave us a complimentary dessert. The food was delicious and was plated beautifully. I am hoping we can go for brunch before we leave Sunday!
We had reservations for 6pm Saturday; we were caught in traffic and I called; the hostess couldn't have been nicer. We had a wonderful table and a great waitress.
This is a regular stop for us, and we do enjoy it and usually the service is very good.. But this day the waitress was just not good. I have not seen her here before.
The deck in nice weather is worth the trip, but otherwise not much to write home about. Interior is a bit dated, and the drinks are on the small side. Food is fair verging on good in a few plates, but inconsistent. Service, however, was a bright spot. Bar seemed lively so perhaps that’s the get.
Out server was fantastic!
Had reservation. Waitstaff sitting around but took6several mminutes for someone to come to us. Waitress asked about drinks but didn't bring menus til after drinks were delivered. Tables too close. Waitress at table beside us asked my pregnant daughter in law to move her chair in several times so she could refill her party's water, etc. Very rude.
Gorgeous view. Excellent food . Relaxed atmosphere.
Sat out on the deck and beautiful view; lobster roll was delicious and service excellent! Great way to spend a relaxing afternoon at end of summer!
I did recommend we go to Shea's on Saturday. I have been there many times when it was Tom Shea's. I know things change but the breads were not even close to the delicious bread we used to be served. Both gentlemen at the table were not happy with the portion of clams on their plate or the fries. The fries were a little soft. The ambiance was beautiful as usual.
If you want steamers go early - we had a 6:00 reservation and they were out. Same experience a few weeks ago. Plus, they weren’t automatically removed from the bill. Disappointing-not the experience we are accustomed to at Shea’s.
Food was okay at best. Cocktails were expensive and tasted watered down.
Would not return.
Food always good. Service excellent. Wonderful and relaxing venue on the river.
Birthday event for two
The food was great, huge service good, the view was mighty fine.
Lovely meal in beautiful setting. Fish is extremely fresh!
Unfortunately the food was not good at Shea's. I has been hit or miss over the years but this time it was actually bad. The filet had to be taken back due to an taste/odor of gasoline. They took it off our bill but only our waitress apologized, no management came out to talk to us even though the waitress said the manager agreed that it smelled like gasoline.
Sat on the back deck and had wonderful service, great lobster rolls and fried-oysters, and loved it!
We sat outside on the deck. Had a great waitress! Food was awesome!
Food is great and the views are spectacular, Parking is across the street, but accessible
Reserved on open table dinner for 6 on a Saturday night. The place was busy but our table was ready for us on arrival. Awesome table next to a picture window. What a view down river! Our guest from England were thrilled. The service was excellent. A very professional, experienced waitress was spot on during the entire meal. One tiny tiny complaint. I thought the the portions on the entrees were a bit small, especially the sides like the rice and potatoes. But, that being said everyone was very happy with the quality (which is the most important thing).
Great view and quieter on the covered deck.
Long time favorite of ours. Service was very slow that day. That was unusual.
Usually very good but not worth it yesterday. Food was fair. Dessert was poor the pizzelle sundae had little sauce and liquid whipped cream. Disappointment
Would hope it was just an off day but will not want to take the chance since it was usually for
Special occasions that we went
My daughter and her partner were visiting from NY for the weekend and they wanted a touch of New England. They loved the location (I had requested a table on the deck so they could see the activity on the river) and we all enjoyed our meal.
Food and view were great. Enjoyable evening.
As usual the foot and service was great. The window side table was exactly what I requested. Look forward to my next visit.
We had a wonderful dinner here on a hot Saturday night. They accomadated my party of seven. The service was great, and everyone loved what they ordered. After we ate, we took pictures outside on the deck. The children in our party were catered to with a wooden oat with crayons. A beautiful evening for my family ! Will return
Love this place! Can't beat the view and the people are great!
Lovely view; food was not bad. Wait staff TOTALLY ruined our meal. I understand that we were a bit bedraggled, but it’s hard to look fresh after driving in a car for 7 hours and you should not be treating any paying customers like they are not worthy of your time.
That being said, if you are looking for an enjoyable evening, the place across the street should be your choice.
