We loved the ambience of the renovated Inn but the service was very disappointing. After being seated at our table for well over ten minutes I finally had to get up and got to the front desk to ask if a server would ever be stopping by to even offer us as much as water. Clearly with its being a Saturday night they were understaffed. Prior planning to add staff in anticipation of reservations is imperative. Once we did get attended to the staff was very kind but still needed prompting.
New Facility very impressive! We had been long time customers of the restaurant. Will definitely go back. Worth the wait.
There for vday, great atmosphere inside clearly did nice job there.
Dinner began with dry no flavor bread basket followed by fried calamari that was small in portion, dry and waaay to chewy.
Dinner was filet medium that was mostly rare and parts of wifes stuffed ckin was cool not hot at all.
solid food great ambiance great service, charming overall
The place was gorgeous. Friendly hosts. Nice jazz band playing in a nice comfortable lounge. The dining room has a beautiful view from any seat. We were not impressed with the food. I ordered the lobster surf and turf and my girlfriend ordered the steak. It all tasted like cheap reheated leftovers. The drinks and cheese plate were great though. The service was great too. Atmosphere was beautiful. I would hope the rest of the menu is better. Just dont get the steak.
Staff was a bit overwhelmed by crowd but worked hard. A little disorganized in bringing the wrong app to our table twice.
Glad to see this gem turn around quickly under new management and after a cash injection. They’ve put the bar back in the outer annex where it belonged, converted the central dining area into a comfortable, if disconcertingly eclectic, lounge, and built another 6 stool bar that backs onto the dining room beyond the lounge. The food is good and the service is quite attentive but we ate in the bar annex (twice) and not the main dining room. On each occasion the bartender handled the food and drinks both for several tables and was relaxed and efficient. Certainly solid, so far. Honestly 4 stars but an extra one for optimism that they’ll be great once they get a firm footing.
The new decor is wonderful and the food is great! I’m glad this place is open again, the area needs more restaurants and places to stay. We will definitely be back!
My wife and I dined at Shelter Harbor several times under the previous management and were sorry when it closed. We are happy that it has reopened and seems to have maintained the same "inn" vibe with good food and a warm, cozy feeling. The only minor issue was the young waiter who needs some additional training. When enjoying a carefully prepared meal in a nice setting, asking if we are "done working" on our meal is inappropriate. Yeah, I know "OK Boomer".
Food was very good. Beautiful job on the renovation. Service was excellent. Ordered the salmon special and the shrimp with grits. Excellent presentation and the bread was delicious. I ordered the kale salad as well. I prefer my kale chopped and this salad is not.
Second visit. Gone is the opening week excitement and cheery staff. Seems like everyone is walking on edge. Awkward atmosphere, tough seating arrangement in the main dining, especially when a party of 4 or more is your neighbor.
The dining room bar is still a sad place to sit with it's incomplete backdrop. Bottles on your home kitchen counter could be better arranged in comparison. The conservatory is an option, but one table of two couples can ruin that for you too. Horrible acoustics.
Not a place that can make it work selling a second round of drinks, and food not quite able to hold up it's end, though they try. Throw in seasonal highs and lows, and staffing sufferers in an obvious way. Bring your mother for lunch more like it. She'll love it.
This place is a little gem! We had lunch to celebrate my friend’s birthday and it was wonderful. Great food, a lovely atmosphere....and the service was great. There has been a recent renovation and it looks beautiful...I’d say go now before tourist season!
What a nice addition to the dining scene. The staff is very friendly and all of our dinner entrees were delicious. The renovated dining room is lovely.
Lovely remodel of interior and exterior spaces. Eclectic interior design, but very attractive and warm. The service was very good, as was the food, but the wine by the glass was unreasonably expensive.
Beautiful renovation, delicious food, wonderful friendly staff and very reasonable prices! Looking forward to visiting when we can enjoy the outdoors also.
the fillet of beef was delicious but, would loved to have a choice of other steaks, like rib eye. I think a baked potato would have been a better choice instead of french fries.
It was nice to see how modern and beautiful Shelter Harbor is now. Looking forward to coming back soon
We loved the renovation . The food was fabulous! The shrimp and grits was GREAT . THE lemon dessert was so outstanding that I would come back just for that .
the hostess was kind enough to show us a room. Charming !
Five of us came and we are fairly critical. All loved and will return. we are from Charlestown and Narragansett !
Love the revival this local gem. Meet new friends by the bar or fire with great drinks Food delicious and fresh. Last two dinners yummy Will be back .
The food in the newly opened restaurant was far better than in a previous visit a few years ago when under different management. The menu is relatively small but includes a good selection of dinner choices. The service was also very good. The restaurant is newly opened within the past few months and hopefully will continue to succeed with its menu and service.
We are so happy to see the Old Inn Beautifully Restored. Food was delicious and service was wonderful...We totally enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely return!
We almost avoided this experience because of the menu but there is a much larger offering than what is published on line. The newly renovated space was perfect and the food was very good.
