The Shepherd & Dog Burger
with baby gem lettuce, red onion, tomato, gherkin, cheddar cheese and relish
served with seasonal vegetables, crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding & a rich gravy, just dinkier
Enjoyable evening for my son’s birthday and they even came out with a candle in his dessert and sang Happy Birthday. They also had taken the trouble to put up a Happy Birthday sign on the wall which was above and beyond our expectations. Thank you!
Our service was wonder, Mel took good care of my family, thanks again!!
Best pub food we’ve had in a very long time. Great service, lovely large garden outside, very pleasantly surprised. Will return again soon!
Amazing food staff really friendly and attentive. Could not recommend enough.
First visit very disappointed with the food , we tried the minted lamb chops advertised but when served it was lamb rump steaks tough and loads of fat , would not recommend the chicken either , won’t be rushing back
Very friendly staff and attentive would recommend
Another fab meal here great service lovely staff got to be my favourite pub right now !
We were outside it was a lovely day so good, the young staff were very good and very helpful
This was on a Sunday so very busy
Meal Sunday roast was plenty and very nice, roast potatoes are to die for.
Yes worth the money.
My husband had the fish, it was nice but price wise a bit expensive
Lovely setting in the garden. Food was beautiful. Servers were friendly and had great knowledge of the food specials and wine list, able to tell us the wines and ales off the top of their heads. Just a shame that there wasn’t enough waiting staff. They were run off their feet which had an impact on the service. Maybe it was staff shortage/ sickness but honestly needed about 5 extra waiting staff.
Would definitely go back, waitresses were lovely. Food was lovely and my son enjoyed playing in the playground
Some unusual dishes on the menu; good quality food generally and friendly, attentive staff made for a very good night out.
Lovely day out. Friendly staff and food is wonderful
We sat outside and had the Vintage afternoon tea and it was lovely. Great value for money - one of the best I've had. Service was very good.
Food was slow but other than that great service and was give free drinks and desert for slow food, not there fault it was slow either, outstanding care and service by the staff
We had used you the previous Thursday. We were impressed with the food so booked in for four family on Tuesday for what was an Anniversary. We ordered drinks on arrival , the restaurant was not busy but they took 40 minutes to arrive! Each subsequent course took too long to order and too long to arrive. We are aware that Covid has caused staffing problems but there was staff there and they weren’t busy,Overall 3 courses without coffee took 3 hours
This place was absolutely fault-less. I booked in advance for a quite outdoor table with shade (I have a low immune system at the moment). It was no trouble at all. perfect seating, really good food and the service was superb (our waitress was Amy).
I am looking forward to coming back already.
Very nice meal at lunchtime took a while for the meal to come as they were quite busy but was worth the wait of about 45 minutes.
I took my family here for my birthday meal, and we were all pleased. We were served by Mel and she was more than welcoming and caring, she really made the experience what it was. The food was all lovely, and we walked out of there with smiles on everyone’s faces. Will definitely be recommending to people and coming back very soon.
Overall the food was good but there could have been more veg with the steak and ale pudding, the food and the drinks were a little over priced, we could not fault the service, we would go there again.
Lovely atmosphere and lovely food only let down by poor service.
We were served desert with no cutlery and after asking for some it took nearly 10 minutes to arrive. Later when coffee arrived there as no sugar. We asked for some but eventually gave up waiting and had to go to the bar to get our own.
Amazing all round experience. Staff were very attentive and polite. Food was high quality and very tasty. Couldn’t fault anything.
Very Well Done New Owners!
Just out of hospital and requested not to sit in the conservatory because of the heat, unfortunately that was the table we were allocated
The restaurant had a great ambience and a friendly atomsphere. The food was really good my mother and i had the suet pudding steak and ale pie which we would recommend to other people.
Very much enjoyed our first visit . Will return as food, service and atmosphere was very good. Not cheap but standard and quality of food was worth the money spent. Not overly expensive.
Would recommend to others.
Enjoyed our meal at the shepherd and dog, the only comment I would make is that they would not take booking by phone, and as I am not very computer literate was a bit put off by this.
The waitresses are lovely so helpful and accommodating lovely atmosphere
We have been eating out at the shepherd and dog for a long time, great staff, exelent food and comfy chairs what more do you want.
We will be back .
Bob and Iris Cawley
Extremely friendly service. Good choice of food at reasonable prices.
I recomend the Shepherd and Dog Billericay. We had a fantastic evening, good food and a very happy helpful waitress. It was for my Son and Daughter in laws birthdays, and they even got a dessert with a candle in, in the case of my Daughter In Law, who didnt want a dessert, she got some fruit with a candle in. Lovely touch. Will definitely go back
Great pub, food was delicious and staff were brilliant with the children
Service a little slow but couldn’t fault the staff and food
Overall the food and service was very good staff were friendly and helpful overall experience we would eat there again
Friendly staff but very slow service and expensive
Went for breakfast, thoroughly enjoyed food was lovely and the service was excellent
We have been to the Shepherd and Dog before and had a very good experiance mid week from a lovely menu and both food and service the best. This the first time we visited for a Sunday roast. Again the service was the best and the food good but I feel you could improove the experiance by giving a greater amount of veg. One small dish for three people was not good enougth and because you were very busy it was not practicle to point this out at the time. This has not put me off going to this lovely pub, who have a wonderful staff who make it a great afternoon/evening out.
Good food; slight wait but worth it. Friendly service.
Great food and service. Will certainly go again. Loved the music and singer.
Best roast dinner I’ve had.
Kids meal was good too. Really friendly staff. Would recommend.
Overall a good meal but although the vegetables were well cooked they could have been more plentiful, a very meagre serving.
My other comment is the quality of the lemonade which was from the pump and almost tasteless. It was changed for a can when I mentioned this to the waitress.
The waitresses were very professional, pleasant and helpful.
Great food and service. DJ was playing some good music out in the garden area as well. Will use again!
Good food on a varied menu except for the ribs. chicken and rib dinner had very nice chicken but the ribs were tough, dry and over cooked
The duck dinner was superb
