Hot Pot is a social way of eating that the Chinese have enjoyed for over a thousand years. Shuang Shuang welcomes everyone to enjoy this most satisfying and communal of meals, with broths inspired by the regions of China and over 40 authentic ingredients to choose from.
Very cool concept, delicious broths, but the add-ons (especially meat) is not of the top quality.
I've always enjoyed Shuang Shuang because of its unique concept! It's easy, you can eat whatever you fancy and you don't need to wait for the kitchen to cook it. There's minimal interaction with staff, which may not be perfect but it doesn't matter. The broth is delicious and selection of food is extensive. I think the idea of having your own hot pot is genius and although sharing is the traditional way, I prefer to have my own.
This place is tiny! If you dine here you will be crammed next to other diners with little space to yourself.
The restaurant doesn't even have it's own entrance and you have to walk through a fast food joint to get in.
Clearly they are spending a lot of marketing to promote their tiny restaurant.
You can find more spacious and better value restaurants elsewhere easily.
Fantastic food and service. Will visit again.
Loved the Tom Yum.
I love this little place and the food. I will go more often.
My friend that I dined with was a gluten-intolerant vegetarian, but since checking their menu online, Shaung Shuang didn't seem to have a gluten-free veggie soup base anymore and we didn't think we could eat here sadly. However, the staff were incredibly welcoming and gracious and created a soup base from scratch just for my friend. They didn't have to do this at all, but went above and beyond so we could dine together here. They were very attentive and even found her gluten-free soya sauce to dip her food in and chopped up fresh chillies for her too. We found it really fun to pick and choose from the conveyor belt and the menu made it easy to identify what she could and couldn't eat through the allergy symbols. All in all, a really great experience. I think it's a little expensive, especially as you can get carried away with grabbing things from the conveyor so it does add up, but we didn't mind because we had such a good dining experience. Would definitely go again! Thanks again to all the staff for helping us out!
Menu is super confusing. Not welcoming environment. Waiters are not clear to explain how it works.
Very unique way of having hot pot with ingredients delivered via suishi conveyor belt... Brilliant!!!! Great fun and the 'all you can eat option' is a must. Loved it!!!
Great food. Fun and engaging. But service was a bit slow. I’d recommend the Tom Yam soup and the bbq option!
Fun concept but service was slow. Food is good and conveyer belt and cooking pot encourages you to try lots of new ingredients but the poor service and lack of inspiration from the menu and staff on what goes well together let’s down what is actually a cool restaurant.
Love this place. Great fun to cook at your table. Ends up not being particularly cheap but it's an experience :-)
After ordering a broth that was obviously too spicy and made our food inedible (probably our fault) we asked the staff if we could change the broth seeing as we couldn't eat any of our food. They said no and that we would have to buy a whole other broth. We did, just so that we could eat some of the food but by then all everything was infused in chilli and no amount of non-spicy broth could fix it. Disgusting. And completely over-priced.
It was totally ridiculous. The restaurant is closed down until mid December but I was not notified at all, and the worst thing is that, the restaurant even sent me emails, reminding me about my reservation and asking for reviews for my experience there. I walked around for a hour, trying to find it, without knowing that it was closed down. Google even stated that they were ‘open’ but they weren’t. I will never ever eat at this restaurant. Not due to the food but due to the horrible service.
I have already written to Open Table, with no reply.
I booked this weeks ago. Continued to receive updates, reminders and the message to confirm I still want the booking.
We arrive at the restaurant, only for it to be boarded up with a sign saying “open again in December” So we were unable to eat there, we were not told by open table or Shuang Shuang, and so in turn, ruined the evening.
Incredibly poor and I’m very unhappy
I showed up at the restaurant and there was a sign on the door saying they'd be back in December.
Good student discount! For £25, the hotpot buffet was pretty decent value for money since individual dishes are a tad too expensive to buy ala carte in my opinion. Some negatives - the beef and pork were completely out from the belt for a significant period of time during our visit, max time of 1.5h for dining which felt a bit rush when you're out with friends and you want to eat and chat, noisy surroundings for talking, the bar set up style did not really allow for good conversation.
Positives - really tasty food, enjoyable, free refill for drinks to accompany the meal, decent selection, very nice set up and location. Staff was attentive and accommodating for any requests
I was very disappointed with the food. It was tasteless. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Despite the many items shown on the menu, noticed that some items were already off the shelves after a certain time. In other words, the selection is not really as much as promised.
pricing was unclear, so ended up being an expensive meal. slow service. good gimmick.
Great concept, fun, tasty and probably quite healthy too depending on what you pick
A really great hot pot place, varied selection and tasty broth! Service was good and decent value for money, we’ll be back!
Disappointed with the food. Food wasn't fresh and was expensive for what it was. Each dish was so small and wasn't much choice.
Ordered the Black Chicken broth and expected some bits if chicken in it but was just water and ine Jujube and a few goji berries.
Left hungry. Will never be back again.
We had the all you can eat manu however not including seafoods items. Not all ingredients on the belt unless you asked. Some ingredients can tell been on the belt for awhile, meats colours changed. Not ideal for big groups because od the sitting. Definitely go back for occasionally. Recommend to book, also busy during weekdays evening.
Having lived in Sichuan, I was always going to have high expectations. I was aware of course, that this was not going to be a £5 meal including beer, as hot pot would be in Chengdu. I thought the £25 all you can eat was good value for money, especially considering the amount we had, but charging £7 for a pint of lager (plus 12.5% service charge) frankly is a complete joke.
I was impressed with the variety of the dishes, although there were a couple of local favourites missing, in particular the small eggs! Also it would be good to have plates just of stringy mushrooms and not a tiny amount padded out with the more ordinary ones we find in the shops. Also a shame to not have the fish balls, although I do understand that things run out occasionally The broth, Mala was spectacular.
Overall the experience was great, I would have struggled if we had to pay by plate (13 later... which is a lot for me!) because the nature of hotpot makes you just not want to stop! The staff were lovely and attentive and willing to bring you any additional plates you wanted.
We will be back! (after we've saved up....)
Not as good as it used to be. The belt was half empty. Had to ask for ingredients. Staff were not accommodating and got upset when we asked for chopsticks or noodles. Yes I would still recommend to visit just because for the concept , but I would cross your fingers to get a better service.
Fly in the food!!! Poor service. The waiter was not around to give us information and provide us with what we needed, eg napkins and extra spoon sets. The waiter also poored a bit of broth on my head. When we did not leave a tip, because we were very dissapointed, he showed he was annoyed, despite the fact that the tip is discretional. So he went in the kitchen and started discussing this with his colleagues, who started looking at us. This was uncomfortable. The professional thing to do would be to come to us and ask us what was wrong. The other staff seemed nice and accommodating. The food was not bad overall, but nothing special compared to the price. Plus we found a fly in the noodles, which I gave back. Too expensive for what it is.
Great fun with conveyor belt style dining. Lovely broths and great selection of dishes to add.
Definitely a fun new experience and out of the ordinary for what we have seen before. Food was ok, soup tasty but not convinced by the freshness of the items on offer on the conveyer. Service was not good, no one explained anything around cooking times or choices so could have ended very badly if undercooked an item. Staff then stood around chatting in the kitchen and looked shocked when you tried to get their attention or ask a question about the food. Bill was very expensive for what we had. Felt bad value for money for some veg soup and noodles. All in all, I would not return.
Arrived early was told to wait fair enough. My other half was late due to the snow affecting travel. When he arrived about 20mins later we were ignored as we stood there waiting to be seated. Walked out went to little johns hot pot down the road.
Great place to take the kids for a 'hands on' lunch experience. Once you've understood the procedure and selected your food, it's great fun being the head chef. A little soulless inside, although we did visit on a quiet lunchtime. Good value and a healthy alternative to the 'traditional' Chinese served around the corner in Chinatown.
Super fun and delicious ! The black bird broth is incredible, will be back again soon to try them all
AMAZING as always <3 super fan . Staff were amazing too, was 30 minutes late and they still accommodated me
Went her for my wife's birthday. Her and the kids loved it.
Nice but there is only one vegetarian stock for the broth available and it has no flavour. Very disappointing. It would be nice for this to change, as I came here a few years ago when I ate meat and I absolutely loved it and the Tom Yum broth was full of flavour. I’d like the same for the veggie broth. Thanks
Staff were not very friendly and it was expensive for what it was. Also including a service charge when there is basically no service is outrageous. Food was fine but had to add a lot of soy sauce to give it any flavour and paying over £2 for a small plate of vegetables was a rip off! It was cool for the novelty but would not go back
Fun Place to eat! Kids really enjoyed Cooking their own food. Everything was very good.
Lifeless place with sullen staff reinforcing that this is a food factory - from fridge to conveyor belt to mouth via a bland broth. They have a gall to add 12.5% service charge - for what? Massive disappointment and would not recommend. I’ve done hot pots in HK and this was an embarrassment compared to that.
Really funny and good meal. I thought it was gonna cost a lot but at the end we spent around 15$ each.
