The braised aubergine on its own makes this a restaurant that one must go to! Delicious. Friendly, good service and authentic Chinese food. Lovely!
Good food, poor management no use of online booking meant a queue for seats. Very loud. Basic decor. Good food though, for London reasonably enough priced.
Everything about Sichuan-Folk is amazing! The food the, the way your glass is always kept toped up. Unpretentious but delivers on flavour everytime. Only down points was getting us on the naughty step with open table by saying we had not attending after we had just paid for a meal for 5!
Amazing food, staff couldn't of been more helpful and accommodating. Wanted a chicken dish boneless and they went the extra mile. If you want to try some beautiful chinese food and lovely staff definitely go and try this place.
We came with my partner to eat the hot pot. When we ask for precisions they didn't answered just asked us to change table.
When the food arrived all was frozen. Fom the fish to the tofu and even all the meat. We had to wait for it to unfroze to be able to grab some pieces and put them in the pot.
It was suppose to be a "all you can eat" but when we ask for more prawn we had to wait for 20 min to have them.
Overall it wasn't really good, there were a lot of people so the waiters didn't have a lot of time for a good service. It was really noisy (we were under a speaker and it was really powerfull) between the speaker and the full room.
I will not come back.
We went for lunch and they did not show us the lunch menu but the all day meny which was much more expensive for very similiar products served in the lunch menu.
Excellent as usual and our favourite restaurant.
Every time we go we try new dishes.
Service friendly and wine affordable.
Excellent food - everything ordered was delicious. Many dishes obviously with a kick.
Great vegetarian dumplings in the starters - very tasty sauce with them. Excellent squid. Cumin lamb was a new find, very tasty but a bit dry so some sauce would be nice.
Friendly and attentive service.
Good authentic good. Ambience is not so good. They offer hot pot in the restaurant, so the air was a bit stuffy
Lively ambience, great food, busy noisy but fun!
If you like Sichuan food, this place is must try. I loved the food and the service was fantastic. I will definitely head back there the first chance I get. I had the kung pao chicken, prawns, frog legs and egg fried rice.
Don’t expect your opentable booking to have been acknowledged by the restaurant or for you to even have a booking at all. Best call them. Luckily the restaurant was quiet. Food is great although I think a little heavy on the MSG...
A small group of us went for Hotpot. It was nice, though not as much ingredients as other places. Sauces was located in a tiny corner on a shelf so l had to reach up for it. Not much choice. Service was average and service charge was added to the bill. All they had to do was bring out food, we did our own cooking.
We were informed at the time of booking that it was ‘cash’ only however saw other customers pay by credit card.
Definitely recommend this restaurant for the excellent food. Disappointed that they only accept cash for bookings made via OpenTable. This wasn't made clear the the time of booking.
Food is extremely impressive and delicious. This is probably the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to outside of China. The King Pao Prawns are especially good.
Remains a favourite with my Chinese friends and always a go-to place, but I feel the food quality has recently dropped.
The pesky and disgruntled service is a given for the place, but sometimes a little bit less curtness would go a long way.
Not what it used to be.
When we dined here it was still called Sichuan-Folk. We have been regulars since it opened, whenever we are in London. Authentic Sichuan cuisine in a comfortable neighbourhood setting. Highly recommended
Great spot. Awesome staff who try not to make you over order. Just be aware if your booking via Open Table you have to pay by cash. On this occasion the staff were lovely even though we didnt have enough for a tip. Food is immense had dishes which I tend to turn my nose down on as they seem like local takeaway go to dishes here, but here they were amazing!
We had the hotpot which was excellent value for money £22.80 each for a generous variety of meat, seafood, vegetables, mushrooms and noodles, all with free refills. We had two types of broth, and were able to mix our own hotpot sauces out of a wide range ingredients, which added to the fun of the evneing. Definitely recommend!
Excellent food and service would definitely reckoned
Had the hotpot- really great food and the service was amazing as usual!
Went based on a recommendation by a respected Chinese cooking author, but was disappointed -- have had much better Sichuan food many times!
As you would expect in any authentic sichuan venue the menu is extensive and full of classic spicy offal dishes that are rare to find in other cuisines.
Food was great and good attentive service highly recommend to anyone wanting to try real chinese food.
Tasty food, although, almost everything is spicy to a different extent: I love it but my friend wasn't too happy about it. Love the choice of starters and main dishes are for different taste: ask the staff for advice and in most cases the spicyness can be slightly tailored
You can't go wrong with the incredible authentic sichuan where, unlike many peers, the service is excellent too.
Excellent Menu with suburb recommendations :) Would certainly recommend for Sichuan food in the area! 👍🏻
Very good hotpot-perfect for Chinese New Year!
Great authentic northern Chinese. Strong flavours. Quality ingredients.
Waited 45 mins for just 1 of 4 dishes to arrive then another 15 -20 mins after I had to flag down a waitress and mention that my food has not arrived. My actual waiter ignored me, saw another a table complaining about the slow service. Regards to the food the dumplings and pumpkin cakes were dripping in oil, the food was over priced. I complained several times regarding the service and they still charged the service charge.
Absolutely amazing hot pot, the staff is friendly and attentive.
Authentic Sichuan cusine in a friendly comfortable environment. The menu is extensive and not your usual Anglo-Chinese restaurant fare. Every bit as good as the day it opened. Highly recommended.
I've never written an online review before, but felt compelled to do so after eating at Sichuan-Folk Chinese restaurant. We had super service from their friendly staff and delicious food - i would recommend it whole heartedly!
A real Chinese food experience”
Amazing food. Don't forget to bring cash since they don't accept cards. It was a little quiet tonight (Saturday evening) but service was helpful, very quick and friendly.
We had the pickled mushroom and spicy dry beef starter. Fantastic and a different eating experience. Recommended.
For mains we had the twice cooked pork which I loved but my partner thought was just Chinese bacon (and what is wrong with that!). The other main, Gong Boa chicken was lovely.
House red at £15.50 was good as well. £60.70 before tip. Not at all bad for central London.
Food was atrocious. One of the worst meals
I've had in a long time
Great food, a tad expensive compared to some of the places in Chinatown... But I'd probably still go back!
We booked through open table and was told on going to our table that we could only pay by cash because they had to pay a commission to open table. Not a good first impression. Food was ok. Very surprised, given how many reviews warned about the spiciness of the food, how relatively mild it was. Having lived in Hong Kong and visited Sichuan I was a little disappointed. Still, very eatable. Staff were polite and the food came promptly
We went for hot-pot. It was very authentic, even to the fact that all the meat came out frozen. I think it would have been better to have improved the quality of the platter that they provide for the hot pot. Still, a good experience and very much like eating in China.
Great cooking, but it is much more expensive than it looks. Particularly watch out for little extras like tea and drinks, things you don't even check the price of sometimes. They add up, unexpectedly. Great food though.
