About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
  • Innovative
The combination of Silk's classic courthouse setting and innovative Asian fusion cuisine has resulted in a high-concept dining experience not to be missed.
The traditional oak-panelled room at the Courthouse Hotel London – formerly the infamous Number One Courtroom where Oscar Wilde, Mick Jagger and John Lennon have stood trial -
contrasts with the contemporary, cutting edge cooking and Silk's zen ambience, but helps creates a unique and cosy vibe. Head Chef Rajesh Parmar has created a menu inspired by the silk route,
blending Italian, Asian and Middle Eastern influences. Signatures dishes include the scallops served in a delicately spiced ginger and coconut froth, and deep fried wing beans served with sweet chilli sauce.

We were welcomed by a most friendly and attentive waitress (Ana Maria) who was very patient whilst we deliberated. The food was excellent and so was the wine. We enjoyed the attention of the restaurant manager as well. It was a very unusual setting and an intimate atmosphere made it a unique dining experience, as was the bar after the meal. It comes highly recommended particularly if you want something very good but unusual.

Nice room but you've got to wander through a grubby hotel to get to it. Glacial service for overpriced food. If this was £20 a head I'd be happy, at £50 I'm furious.

Returned to Silk after many years absence because the history of the place is interesting and the food used to be good. When we arrived there was only one waiter who was busy serving tables and no one else to greet us. The restaurant was half empty and the friendly waiter appeared like it was his first day. We sat for quite a while before being offered drinks. Beside a bottle of wine, we opted for the sharing platter. The starters were delicious however not sharing. The mains were semi cold and rather boring. Desserts un-inspiring. A second waiter arrived later but there was still no structure to how they were serving customers. Despite this we were surprised about the price as it was incredible cheap. £55 for a sharing platter and very reasonable priced wine on the menu.

Really enjoyed the whole Silk expeience. The food was fabulous, presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Our waitress was enthusiastic and suggested things which would go well with our food....and she was right. The atmosphere was lovely. I couldn't have wished for a better evening. We will definitely be going back

Silk is very conveniently located if you are going to a performance at The London Palladium, which is just around the corner, but make it clear to the waiter when you need to leave by. The food is very good and reasonably priced, especially the set meal for two. The location in the old magistrate's court makes for a unique experience.
