Silver - Cathedral Commons
We went for Fathers’ Day brunch and were very impressed. I had the Power breakfast- egg white scramble, and it was one of the best I have had in a long time. Just well balanced with the right amount of eggs, vegetables and goat cheese. Everyone else was equally impressed. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.
We enjoyed sitting outside for brunch on Father's Day Sunday. However, the service was uneven and most of the food came out cold. My husband had to send his steak back twice to be heated to the proper temperature. They have a nice menu and the drinks are good but I don't know if I would rush back.
always an excellent experience! top of the let’s eat here list when family & friends are visiting DC.
Quick efficient seating and good natured wait staff.
Proper order and swift .Served with a smile.
Would definitely return.
Also makes a good Martini.
You would have to drag me back here. The food was awful and the kitchen lost our dinner ticket, resulting in our waiting over an hour for our dinner. Restaurant comped our desserts to appease. I will say, one diner enjoyed her scallops even though she had to send them back once because she had requested no salt and the accompanying vegetables were covered in salt. My fried chicken on the other hand, which was brined in pickle juice, tasted way too picklely and it too was over salted. Could have been just a bad night for the kitchen, but I don’t care to return to find out.
Solid diner food, locally sourced.
Great food and great libations. The service was good except they were training a new bartender and the drinks took awhile to come to the table.
First time at this Silver, which is fairly new. Met a friend for lunch, and was annoyed by a little mix-up caused by the hostess. I arrived a few minutes late, was told I was the first one there, and seated at a table. After waiting 10 more minutes, I finally stood up to see if perhaps my friend was sitting elsewhere -- and she was! No real apologies from the hostess's desk! An offer for something complimentary might have been nice, considering that both my friend & I were seated separately within minutes of each other, and both of us gave my name on the reservation. Otherwise, our meals were fine, the wait staff was attentive, the place was nice.
nice neighborhood place, full of families at lunch, friendly service,, and good food. The chicken piccata was delicious - cauliflower mash not so great (and looked worse), but sautéed spinach fine.
Food was perfect the scallops were wonderful even though the server was new she was excellent
We have been to Silver many times and the service is always slow and has never improved. After a reasonable apology from the server about the slowness of the service, it took almost 5 minutes to process and return my credit card.
Our drinks took way too long - and then they came with a mistake. The floor manager gave us a discount to make up for this- which was fair, but I would rather have had better service from the start.
I love the options for healthy and tasty food, so maybe better trained bartenders would be useful?
I am a neighborhood person, so I do hope you correct this because I hope to come back a lot.
Second visit...food just as good the second time. We are vegan/vegetarian and have never been disappointed in Silver's (or Silver Diner's) creative veg options.
I love Silver and our experience was the usual.. great food and drinks. My only complaint was that I felt our server, who was very nice, was overwhelmed by the number of tables and people he was serving. I felt badly for him.. It took 30 minutes to give our drink order ..and then another 20 for the food order. The hostess ended up taking both because the waiter was so crazed.. Yikes..
It might be a good idea to put your more experienced wait staff where the restaurant is the busiest..and it was definitely the patio area on Monday night.
Thanks for the great food and drinks.
Had Sunday brunch here (our first visit). Good varied menu, quick service, food was good. We’ll be back. Nice big patio.
Waitress was clearly new at the job and inexperienced. She should have trailed someone for longer before she waitered on her own. Drinks took way too long for the amount of people in the place, which wasn’t many; they appeared to be short on staff. And the bartender gave me the lousiest pour ever of bourbon. Unfortunately the service soured us on the experience.
Capellini with veg sausage was good. The cauliflower sandwich was not as advertised in the picture from direct mail piece. Too mushy. That needs some work. Fries were tasty.
Service was very slow. The waitress disappeared. Food took a long time to come out. Basically, had to beg for coffee , water and other drinks.
The music outside was too loud and not enjoyable
Excellent food service can be slow if you sit in far from central area
First time there. The taco bowls were great. Cocktails also were delish. Pricing is fair given the quality. Pleasant friendly service.
Our neighborhood go to for brunch!
Great new vegan options and nice outdoor dining!
Excellent food, excellent service. A great place for brunch!
Breakfast is the go-to meal here. The buffalo huevos are terrific, the pancakes excellent, and the steak and eggs totally worth it. Their coffee is also very good - Compass, a local brand. The service is cheerful but spotty. Had to ask for butter, ketchup and more coffee a couple times...
We went for Pups on the Patio and it was great.
Food was meh and the waitress was borderline rude. Disappointing.
Great meal and attentive service.
Silver consistently uses top quality ingredients and offers a wide variety of flavorful, healthy vegetable dishes in addition to its fish and lean meat selections. Service is excellent.
Service was not great. We ordered 6 dishes, 2 were not what we had ordered. I always order the Ahi Tuna Poke bowl in Bethesda and love it. The one I had in Cathedral was very bland and no wasabi flavor to be found. I would not return to this location.
First time there. Service was great. Food was great. Would definitely go again.
We were very pleased with our server Becca and she was right on top of everything. The food was good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered.
Easter Sunday brunch. It was busy, but somehow the service was prompt, food was delicious and day was beautiful (restaurant can't take credit for that)
We decided for a 9:30AM breakfast to beat the Easter Sunday crowds.
Sat outside on a beautiful morning. Food was amazing- bison huevos rancheros, French toast, boozy coffee and green juice.
Service was great. Definitely would recommend for a get together, casual to semi dressy.
Silver is ... fine. It would be nice if there were more shareable appetizers. The service is frequently awkward, although adequate.
I’ve eaten here a few times. The food is fine but nothing to rave about. We had a weird thing where our server must have confused us with another family because she brought our check without asking if we wanted anything else. We had planned to get dessert and when we put that order in she brought it to us to-go. Super weird. It’s a fine place to go with a family, you generally won’t have to wait for a table except during weekend brunch.
Service was good but their food changed quite a bit. I used to love the pickle-brined chicken sandwich, which had a meaty piece of juicy chicken. Now it’s a paper-thin piece of chicken which is lost in the stack of veggies. Waste of money. My girlfriends cauliflower steak was severely undercooked. She had to use a steak knife to cut it. Completely changed my opinion of the restaurant.
Took guide awhile to be served
But the food is excellent
Try the Chicken Pot Pie! Yummy
I love Silver. The food is always great & the servers are always friendly (although sometimes a tiny bit inattentive). This week, however, they were doing road work on Wisconsin Avenue and the noise levels were painful. Usually that isn't a problem!
