We enjoyed the ambiance of Simplicity burger but found that all of our food was incredibly salty - to the point that it was hard to finish.
The service could definitely be improved - at no point did we feel welcomed or looked after. We had to ask for everything, not once did the server approach us to take the order, refill water, clear the table or to ask whether we wanted the bill.
I'd say that the restaurant has a lot of potential - brush up on service know-how and hold on the salt, and the place would get a five star review.
Wonderful, tasty food.
Original recipes and tastes as well as great classics.
Would definitely recommend to friends and go again!
This place is outstanding - it is absolutely in the top three vegan burgers I have had in my lifetime, and I'm confident that will increase when I head back there again soon. The sides and starters are so reasonably priced too, those cheeseburger nachos SWEET JESUS. Would highly recommend and I can't wait to come back!
I have followed the Simplicity Burger story since its conception in the states so when I heard it was coming over to the UK i was very excited to try it...When i heard Neil Rankin was involved I was over the edge excited as my love for Temper knows no bounds. This place DID NOT DISAPPOINT, just try it. The fries and nachos as you'd expect where great but the "cheese" toppings and everything were mind blowing. The burger was great with a depth of flavour from the umami leaving a pleasant taste in the mouth. Will return
Very good food, but unfortunately it was spoiled by service- very poor, not interested in any interaction, didn’t know menu
The burger was tasty for sure and innovative in ingredients. But perhaps a little on the small side and the fries could have been more interesting.
Great food, very much like meat! - Shame it was a little drafty
Head and shoulders above other plant-based pattys, served in a great space by happy people. Definitely worth a visit!
Have to say I was skeptical but it was all DELICIOUS, lovely staff and great atmosphere too
Really tasty burger. Well worth it. I thought the Salt and Pepper fries were way too salty though.
Have been before and the burgers and concept are world class.
In this occasion the service was very strange. Ordered 2 Salt & Pepper fries and only got one. No biggy at all, just reminded the server we ordered 2 and awaited the second portion. They never came. Got the bill and were predictably charged for 2. To ask twice for a portion of fries and not get them and then get charged kind of ruined the experience this time for us.
Excellent burgers - not a vegan and this is arguably one of the best burgers I've ever had! So good we ordered a third burger to share. Salt and pepper fries were tasty too, with a great crunch and perfect accompaniment to the burger. Enjoyed the IPA to wash it all down, and also highly recommend the dessert (couldn't believe we had space either). All in all would definitely come back.
Unbelievably good flavour. Wish we knew how high the extra cheese charge was but it was worth it! Keep up the great work
Service was great, food was delicious and inspired. Will definitely return
The burgers are absolutely delicious. The fries were so good. They were quiet when we went but we were there early. Hopefully they get busier in the evening. Really delicious and good value vegan food.
This is the kind of food that needs to hit the mainstream and become far more accessible to everyone if we want to eat more sustainably. However at its current gourmet burger prices it's somewhat limited to middle class vegan lifestylers.
Great food and drinks. Service was a little slow but really where we just out of sight from the staff so struggled to get their attention, but friendly overall. Restaurant is small too which I really like. Also they are dog friendly, and my pup slept under the table undisturbed!
Loved the burger and salt and pepper fries. The dessert was a bit disappointing as it was really frozen quite solid. Wouldn't order dessert again but the burger is definitely worth the visit.
Burgers are tiny and ridiculous over priced
Went as a group of friends and my boyfriend couldn't eat anything as all the burgers stupidly contain gluten. The ironic thing is normally at a meat burger place he just needs to avoid the bun. Here he couldn't even have a burger and was left with plain fries as only option.
Would not come back here again
Simplicity hot burger was freaking amazing!
My other half (who’s non veg) ordered two of them and a Thai laab which he loved.
Awesome delicious burgers. Great orices
The concept is great the burgers are really good and in some ways reminded me a bit of McDonalds (in a good way) but without the horrible feeling in your guts and general feeling of guilt after. I had the Big Double so can't comment on the others but the 3 people were happy with their choices as well. The only downside of that is the way you can literally inhale the burgers much like a McDs, I could have easily eaten 2 of the burgers and I'm not a big eater really.
Our salt and pepper fries were way too salty and I am somebody who likes a lot of salt. I guess that's something that's easily fixed so would definitely recommend this. The bar downstairs is also really good and worth a visit.
Great place. Amazing vegan food and probably the best veggie/vegan burger I’ve had. Basically taste the same as McDonalds without the guilt.
I messaged them about some dietary requirements and they responded super fast and were really helpful.
Food came quickly was hot and nicely presented. We even ordered twice the food was so good. Drinks were good they are limited in terms of choice but they cover most options. Place was busy but not overcrowded with a good vibe and even though it was full at one point it didn’t affect service. Would highly recommend.
A repeat visit to Simplicity Burgers and the food was just as good. Hard to believe that everything is vegan! Well worth a visit. Cute little restaurant , with a great playlist and super friendly but not in your face staff.
Best burger ever - so so so tasty and the chips were sick
I was so psyched to try the simplicity burger after hearing only amazing things about it! Firstly the way the place is set out is bizzare, sparse but not in a thought out way, it looks like a pop up which hasn’t been quite set up. Regardless I thought the food is going to be banging so who cares!
We ordered the cheese burger and chips with mince and gravy. The chips are so incredibly salty and vinegary, of course from the fermentation process of the gravy sauce, but still the chips at the bottom of the pile were untouchable as they were far too overwhelming. The first bite of the burger was pretty good but then you realise it has exactly the same flavour as the gravy sauce... overall you begin to feel fermented your self. My palate was assaulted.
As a side note the burgers arrived on a what look like bread side plates, but the chips were served in a beautiful ceramic glaze plate. The whole thing is inconsistent and frankly from somebody with such a strong kitchen background I was expecting better. The burger is also small for £9 - There are loads of other places which do amazing vegan burgers for the same price but twice the size (patty&bun amazing, even honest burgers are better!) Lastly, the kombucha of the day wasn’t home made which i think is the whole point of Simplicity - zero waste...
Perhaps my expectations were too high but after working on a burger for 8-9 months, from a chef with a solid reputation and background this was disappointing. Really sad to be leaving this kind of review!
You know what I really do care about what people think about this and everything I do and when someone doesn't like anything I do I feel a personal responsibility to get to the bottom of whatever it is that we've done wrong. I do however take issue with you making this so personal which I find unnecessary in a review of a business but most of all its just mean so I really don't think ill bother. If your point of view was in any way consistent with others I may have looked at this differently.
I'm not vegan or veggie - but choose to eat meat mindfully, and burgers are my achilles! I was really excited to try simplicity burger and was not disappointed! I tried the Simply Hot and the Cheese Burger, personally I haven't had a vegan cheese I'm mad about and whilst I appreciated the cheeseburger it wouldn't be my go-to because I wasn't totally keen on the cheese - but really it was pretty good for vegan cheese. The Simply Hot though - amazing! So delicious and the patty itself - really good. Not an awful bean burger and not a slab of tofu - this is something else altogether and it hits all the right notes and has a really good texture. I also LOVED the salt & pepper fries - which were a complete surprise, I was expecting something a lot more low-key and instead got a plate of the most generously flavoured topped fries. SO GOOD. I also tried the Almond PB&J milk - a must-try, it's so lovely. I look forward to bringing my vegan pals to Simplicity in future!
Excellent food. Mince & gravy fries a little too salty for my liking but overall great food and service. Definitely recommend.
Delicious food, sick tunes and great vibes. Neil Rankin was there too and he is awesome.
I'm obsessed. Amazing burgers without the weird ingredients. You can tell a lot of work & passion has gone into creating them, and the flavour / texture makes even more sense coming from Neil Rankin's meat background. Big respect chef. Now I'm googling 'meat backgrounds' and need to put my phone down.
Delicious and unpretentious
Simple but at the same time very flavourful. I cannot compare it to any other vegan burger I've ate. It has unique balanced flavours which we've enjoyed very much. The service was good and waitress helpful.
A [vegan] burger that’s up there with the best burgers out there, period. Friendly staff too :)
