Could not fault dinner at The Skylon. Beautiful location, especially if you get a table by the window to watch sunset over the river and the food and service were brilliant! Will definitely book again.

Great food, wine and ambiance. Service was average and we got locked in the lobby of building for 20 min. Not clear On how to exit restaurant after building closes.

We hadn’t been to the Skylon for a very long time.
The restaurant is spacious , nice view on Thames , bright, lovely flowers.
First impression was great.

The soup was very nice ,but a minute portion.
Salmon was ok.
Hamburger very dry . Chicken Kiev mediocre .

Service terrible. We arrived at 1 pm and there was no time to gave desert before the 3 pm concert !!

The sommelier was patronising and failed to relay the fact that we wanted to pay. Menus also took 10 minutes to arrive. That being said both the food and wine were good, but overpriced for what they were. If you’re looking for a bar to chill out after a concert this is a reasonable option. For dinner however, look outside the RFH.

Fantastic service and delicious food.
All the staff made sure that our family birthday event was really special even with a crazy group of old and very young! Food was delicious and everything brought in good time with consideration especially for the younger more hungry members of our group. It’s a lovely place to come for a family event with great views of London.

I have always loved Skylon for the food, ambiance and atmosphere. However, it was my first time to try pre-concert meals. It was simply CHAOS. We were told our food will not come for 1 hour at the least, and that meant we would be forced to gobble down our (well-done only) burger in about 5 mins before dashing off to the concert. We gave it up in the end, so did a lot of fellow frustrated diners. Piece of advice -- just do NOT go there before the concert.

Can not wait to visit again
Starter was absolutely delicious, I would be happy to have this dish as a main meal, salmon with peaches was an excellent combination to my delight and surprise. Main meal of fish and salad were spot on for a healthy balanced meal and the dessert YES please :) although after fish I should have chosen sorbet not chocolate.
Great service, Nikolas, thank you so much for looking after us.
We were given a great table overlooking Thames.

Food and service was good. We did have to wait quite a bit of time though between our starter and main course. Also, was disappointed we couldn’t have the lamb rack cooked 50% well done for the pregnant guest and 50% medium rare. If the chef could have accommodated that, I would have been much happier. Loved the lime cheesecake. Absolutely the highlight of the meal.

Service was very slow, we had to ask for a menu and drinks. Food was average. Didn’t like the fact you had to use the toilets in the Festival Hall.

The three of us dinning all felt slightly unwell in the evening and the next day.

Both of us did not finish even half of the main course. The pork was so tough it was not easy to cut, the fish was not tasty and dry. The waiter noticed and asked but did not offer a replacement. The bill was mistaken by almost double. The waiter brought a new bill, saying something not clear about mixing up.

All year round favourite - great menu, reasonable and good wines very high quality ingredients and good presentation , appreciate their interesting pre-theatre menu often with really great offers, if anything, over attentive service though still make sure bill is requested in good time.
Special mentions: views are really terrific so long as not in really hot sunshine (early evening) as blinds may need to be lowered prior to summer sun sets, even late afternoon in indian summers/autumn, as faces NNWest Who cares though as the ambience is also vibrant with surprisingly good “table acoustics” despite generally very busy from 6pm.
LOVE IT!

We met friends for drinks at the bar, which was lovely although service was slow. Dinner was fairly average. We had the ES menu which was ok for value but I wouldn’t have paid more. The food was only ok, some dishes were on the bland side. Service varied from very good to heavy-handed. Because we had drinks at the bar before dinner, we had the full whack of service charge on the bill, which I wasn’t delighted about as it was so slow.

If you have all the time in the world for a leisurely lunch in a lovely setting overlooking the Thames, then this is the place for you. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. It just took a long time to arrive! A glass of wine ... over priced by far. The waiters need more training...we got the next tables meal and we’re about to tuck in when the meals were whipped away to next table...who looked as shocked as us!

We ordered beef wellington at 19:30 and were told that was already sold out - That early on a Saturday night !

We were brought a birthday pudding with a candle on then as soon as we had blown out the candle the waiter asked for the candle back to use on the next table !

Asked for bill at the end ..waited 15 minutes and nothing ...had to ask another waiter to get it.

Food was very average and over priced. Service is friendly but you feel rushed ...all in all disappointing and I will not be returning.

At least we got the offer! Bad service - we had to ask for water 3 times and got ignored regularly. Bad food - my friend’s meal was cold which we complained about only to be told it was meant to be (!) and then told they were going to make up for it only for nothing to happen. It felt like there was no manager on service and we were served by about 4 different waiters. Had to find someone to get the bill. What a shame as it’s such a beautiful place.

What a fantastic restaurant my sister and I were lucky to have been seated at the window...fabulous. We had a fix price menu of £30 per person with a glass of fizz which was extremely good value; however we both felt just one more main menu choice would have been nice.

Host was a bit up himself this Tuesday. Servers were properly professional and gracious. Lunch pre fixe was fine enough with an adequate selection. Calm elegant atmosphere. Despite the location, the FOH should not be turning off patrons at first impression of a young host—cheers.

Good food, great location and views. They get very busy around 7.30 so was disappointing to hear that they didn't have a table ready at 7.45 when we had booked through OpenTable, and it was pretty tight finishing dinner before getting to our film before it started

We were looking forward to having dinner in the Royal Festival Hall, overlooking the Thames on after a sunny, warm day. Soon after we were seated, the "cabaret" stage opened outside, directly beneath us. It was so loud that we could hardly hold a conversation at dinner, without literally shouting at one another. Perhaps this clouded my opinion of the food? My husband's chicken was dry and the cutlery wasn't up to cutting it, my pasta was bland and I left more than half of it. The waiters were inattentive and rather supercilious.... Perhaps it was because it was Friday? I don't know, but I won't be going to back on another night to find out.

Skylon has an excellent location on the Southbank, overlooking the Thames, albeit the view is obstructed by tree foliage in the summer months. It has a pleasant unhurried ambience, which makes a pleasant change from many of the other restaurants nearby.
The meal didn’t start well when we asked for tap water, which came at room temperature; I object to having to pay for water in order to get it chilled! The food we had was tasty and reasonably well presented. Service was attentive to start with but less so as the restaurant got busier, and when we wanted to pay the bill, the staff seemed determined to avoid our expectant gazes. In the end, we went to the counter to pay as we had a show to get to.

The restaurant has a great view and is light and airy. On this occasion the meal was for 2 friends in their 90s meeting for the first time in a few years. We requested a quiet table on booking. When we arrived only half of the restaurant was open but it was busy and very noisy. Gradually some tables on the other, quieter side were occupied. When it came to the time to go to the table the staff were reluctant to let our party sit on the quiet side even though it was obvious that they would have no chance of hearing each other if they were to be placed on the noisy side.
Eventually a quiet table was found and the staff were lovely - but we shouldn’t have had to insist.

Food was pleasant but not special.

They had a lovely time.
