Skylon is set in the middle of the vibrant Southbank with its floor-to-ceiling windows looking out across the Thames. Serving up a menu as magnificent as that view, and we can vouch that the Brunch is something very special indeed.

Attentive, bordering on pushy service resulted in a disappointing experience. A 530pm booking and we felt rushed through every choice - multiple requests from different staff as to whether we'd chosen our wine within a minute of our cocktails arriving. Same scenario when it got to dessert. We were not dawdling in our choices, but we had hoped for a relaxed meal and kept being interrupted and hassled, with a touch of poor attitude from some staff. Other young staff seemed to be 'in over their heads' without clear direction. A great shame as the food was very good.

Excellent service - looked after us very well. My friend has very limited foods he can eat, and the staff worked hard to find choices that would work for him. It was a very special day.

Had lunch here again with a friend. Lovely view and plenty of comings and goings outside along the Embankment. The food was excellent and the set menu was good value.

The revamped Skylon is a massive disappointment having been a regular for many years. The menu is now extremely limited and unadventurous, portion size and quality very poor - I do not expect to have to season food myself in order for it to taste of anything - and the service inattentive and lacklustre. We weren’t even offered bread, had to wait 15 mins to be asked for a drink, a further 15 mins to be asked for our order and waited 20 mins between courses.

It now seems to want to only cater for casual walk-ins and tourists - both of whom should still expect and deserve so much better. The view is still fabulous but unless things drastically improve I will not be back.

This was 1st time for me and my 2 friends and I enjoyed it. Arriving early I had time for a drink served by pleasant waitress and when friends arrived had river facing table. Food was good, service efficient and friendly and reasonable value for money. I'd go again.

Easy lunch. A quiet lunch time so we were given a nice river view table. Excellent set menu but unfortunately one of the starters (of only 4) was not available (fish carpaccio) - seeing as were first to arrive, how does this end up on the moue if no-one can oder it?

Excellent friendly waiter and front of house very warm and welcoming. Food was good. Soup excellent, main course duck very nicely done and side order were good. Dessert was so so (lemon meringue ) but a friend had the poached pear (a la carte) which was good. Set for £25 good value.

After waiting 40 minutes for our mains as part of a pre-theatre menu with the time fast approaching 7pm, having spoken to several members of staff and been assured that the food was on its way, only for it not to appear, to be then told by a waiter that he wouldn't be apologising because 'he had other people to serve' is unacceptable. Really disappointing from an establishment I've always enjoyed visiting.

A very nice place with great views and good food. Portion sizes are the only disappointment, particularly given the high prices. I would only return when at times I can take the offer which make it reasonably good value, otherwise it is way over priced and I would certainly eat elsewhere.

We dined on Saturday prior to a theatre trip. Meet and greet was good - seated quickly. Service hesitant and unconfident. We were not offered the a la carte menu and had to ask.
Food was ok - nice crab on toast, both mains nice but some of the plate was cold.
Deserts were pleasant.
The ambience is noisy and bustling. altogether a disappointing experience- will visit for a drink as the bar is great with good cocktails but not to eat

It's nice to overlook the water whilst dining. Flexibility shown regarding our food order which one should expect, but nice too.
Table was a little late and it was quite loud, but I consider this may be due to it being Mothers day.
I would like to try it again and judge the atmosphere.

We were early on a Saturday night and were initially placed in a row of tables that were the "early pre-theatre" dinner, how weird when 4 tables in a row are being handed over the menu and place their order at the same time. Never experienced it before, felt like a "canteen".
Our request to change table was accommodated easily, service was very good at the beginning but significantly degraded the closer we were getting to 7 pm. The dinner room by itself is very interesting with a really high ceiling and they have done a great job at splitting it between tables, however, it is still a very large volume and does not feel very intimate. The food was good, however the wine pairing on the pre theatre menu was on the cheap side, sometimes cheap is cheerful when good but that was not the experience here. I am not sure I would need a second visit at Skylon.

Nice venue that looks out across the Thames, but large and noisy. The food was great, although the dessert was disappointing. The main let down was the service. It was inattentive and took us quite a while to get the bill and then to actually pay for it!

The food is nice, but I don't think it justifies the price given the service and the noisy atmosphere. A shame really, as they first time I dined there it was a pleasant experience.

I went with a group of friends for my 40th Birthday. I’ve eaten here several times and it’s always been good. This time there were a few issues with service and mixed up orders. This could have ruined the evening but the staff were very good at rectifying the situation to our satisfaction. The food is good and the wine list offers a wide range of choice. Great views over the river.

This was the second time I have been to Skylon. My last visit was over 10 years ago and wonderful. Unfortunately both the service and food have gone down hill. Trying to get someones attention was very hard. It took us two hours to have two courses - a starter and main meal. We were looking forward to dessert but had to pay and leave before dessert because we would have been late for the theatre. You would think 2 hours would be plenty of time. The food was also disappointing this time. I ordered a piece of fish for main and a side of 'rosemary fries' which were plain potato wedges. The fish came with a fennel salad which was more like a few bits of wilted. warm lettuce. My friend ordered a steak and a green side salad. The meat was tasteless. The salad was wilted and brown (def not green!) and she left it untouched. We complained but we were just told they would feedback to the chef. We wouldn't go again which is a shame as the view and ambience are nice. Would not recommend, so many places in London to choose from which have a lovely view now, this one isn't worthy I am afraid.
