We couldn't figure out why the noise levels were so high as the restaurant was less than 20% full on a Sunday after 4pm. They should look into a bit more ceiling-soundproofing.
Steaks - are all lovely, just as you'd imagine for a New York joint.
They need a larger selection of LIGHT starters, as you don't need to eat very much before a huge steak with sides. However, you DO need to eat a starter with your aperitifs, as the wait is fairly long for the mains. Lovely bread bu the way.
Sunday brunch with my daughters, really enjoyed the experience, spacious seating arrangements, exceptional service, great food. They also took my opentable cheque, which other opentable restaurants refused. What more can one ask from a restaurant? Make children get off their phones and talk to their dad?
No complaints about the food, it was outstanding. Not cheap, but worth it. However service was somewhat questionable. A waiter in particular was rude and very unprofessional, to say the least. One would expect a whole other level of professionalism, given the price paid.
The restaurant is nice and big, it wasn’t very busy on a Saturday night.
The food was very good but expensive, the service was very efficient and friendly.
Quite nice food and service.
We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday here and had a fantastic experience. Staff were attentive and friendly and the food excellent. A very enjoyable evening!
This is the best restaurant for sirloin steak we have ever eaten in.
We cannot praise it enough!
Everything else we have had on the menu is great too.
If I had to be picky, need some more vegetarian dishes.
Brilliant services, very attentive staff!!! Food is great!
Lovely food. Probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!
It's a very good meat restaurant... with tablecloths and American beef
Best steak in london. No competion- hawksmoor Goodman's etc dont come close.
If you like to have some exceptional piece of meat, this is the place for you.
Ambiance is very typical of an American steakhouse, a bit outdated but cosy.
Wines are very good as well
Service is very good. You have some professional people there that know their job. Some of the younger staff is a bit less pro. but everyone is nice and attentive.
Prices are high (especially the wines) , which avoids them to have a 5 star value for money
overall a very good address I would recommend with no doubt
We had a very nice dinner , amazing steaks and great starters. Good service as well.
We had a great pre theatre meal here. A warm welcome was given when we arrived and all the staff who waited on us were smiling, friendly, knowledgeable about the food on offer and professional. The food was delicious! My husband ordered steak and it was cooked to perfection. I had herb crusted cod which also beautifully cooked. The vegetables were firm, cooked through, fresh and full of flavour. The New York cheesecake was authentic, quite rare in my experience outside of the USA. Varied wine list. Highly recommended.
Nice setting, great for business meetings as quiet. Went for a group breakfast (12 people), portions were generous and staff were tentative.
I chose to dine at Smith & Wollensky to celebrate my partner’s 28th birthday and we both had a very pleasant evening because most things were exceeding our expectation.
Restaurant staff were overly attentive, but attentive nonetheless.
We ordered the USDA sirloin steak and they were both beautifully cooked!
The place was tranquil and I thought it was rather romantic.
We picked the St Emilion Bordeaux and it was the perfect match to our steak.
We ended the evening with a cheesecake for myself and a key lime pie for my partner and these were sublime!
We would definitely recommend this steakhouse! 10/10
Our waiter Richard was outstanding. Really pleasant and attentive.
It’s a beautiful restaurant and bar area. Stylish smart yet comfy surroundings. The staff are wonderful from the doorman to the manager, Richard Chebbi. Their uniforms are immaculate and customer service is exceptional. Great drinks, great food. Great night. Can’t wait till next time. Thank you
I ate 28 days aged ribeye. Disappointed!! My meet was filled with tendons and unpleasant marble ( fat )
I ended up eating half of my wife’s meal ( luckily she was not able to finish)
Cheesecake I ordered crumbled but staff acknowledged something was wrong and changed.
Only thing I enjoyed was steak tartare and wine :)
Very nice restaurant. All the staff very very friendly and greeted us. Table was good size for a party of 4 and had a nice amount of space each side to the next tables. Not common in London. The food was all great. Steak cooked perfectly. And a great New York cheesecake dessert. Will consider it first choice again if near by.
Such lovely service, wonderful food and atmosphere!
The staff were friendly and efficient. Our server went above and beyond. The meals were excellent. Of course the restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable.
Love the venue and the staff was super! Really tasteful food!
The style of this restaurant is unique to many places I’ve eaten in. It was my first visit and it had a great atmosphere. The food was excellent. I had the rib eye steak and it just melted in my mouth. It’s a long time since I’ve had a steak as good as this. I will certainly go back to this restaurant.
But all the big steaks for sharing are not available
Lovely staff, great food, nice atmosphere. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff were very nice and celebrated with us.
We had a very mixed experience at the restaurant. This was booked as a Birthday treat for my Sister. Her order was lamb which had to be cooked twice before changing to a Fillet Steak. This was her first experience at a Smith and Wollensky, so not a great first impression. Her starter was the Scallops which were very small and disappointing. The restaurant did try to address the issue and made an effort with a Birthday dessert for her. Overall not great, although our own personal experiences in the past have always been excellent, especially in the USA.
It's very expensive but so are all such places and this is the most reliably good of them in London, going by my (wide but not exhaustive) experience. Admittedly you do not have to spend as much from the excellent wine list as I did on this occasion - they have very competent house wine and by-the-glass choices. I was impressed to find that for my choice of bottle (a rare-ish Californian Southern Rhone style blend) they had not only the advertised vintage, but the two previous vintages at the same price. The USDA T-Bone was unbeatable. So many upmarket steakhouse restaurants are in basements, not necessarily a bad thing, but the main S I am never sure: Art Deco or something else?
We had the USDA t-bone.
The wine was at the same levelz
The wagyu beef is the best, I came long way to try it out and it was well worth it.
I wanted a good quality meal. My sister was visiting and we had eaten elsewhere for lunch and had a very disappointing experience, so we decided to go somewhere nice for dinner to make up for this and a friend recommended Smith and Wollensky. Even entering the establishment we became aware that we had done very well with this recommendation. Service was exceptional right from the offset, and the specials sounded amazing, but we'd already seen the menu and been seduced by the Chateaubriand, so we had Tuna Ceviche and Sirloin Carpaccio with Black Truffle to start (both of which were stunning), and then went for the Chateaubriand, mac and cheese, creamed spinach and french fries, and some barbreseco to enjoy it with. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly, the sides went brilliantly, and the wine was stunning. The service staff enhanced the experience by being attentive and professional, demonstrating knowledge of the dishes and delivering a quality of service (in an effortless manner) that can only come from a tremendous amount of hard work. I recommend Smith & Wollensky to anyone who wants to impress or treat their guests. Whilst it's not the cheapest, there are some very reasonable options on the menu, and I don't think we could have had a meal of the quality that we had for less - so I feel it is also good value. Thanks for an awesome experience, I'll be back.
Great staff. Great food. Does the job.
Had a lovely evening celebrating our 25th. Great atmosphere. Lovely staff and amazing food.
By far and away the best steak in London. The signature USDA bone in rib-eye is amazing
Lovely meal, staff very attentive, beautiful surroundings and steak was sublime..
Thank you for making our visit special.. x
Not being there before we didn’t k ow what to expect . Food seemed quite expensive so another time I think we would choose from the set menu.
We were celebrating multiple occasions and Roland went completely above and beyond to make our meal extremely special. We haven’t had service as good as this in absolutely ages and it was fantastic, he is a credit to the restaurant and all of our party of 6 can’t wait to come back again!
Restaurant was nice. There was an issue that the manager handle promptly. Enjoyed dining at SW London
Really nice restaurant, service and food excellent. Many off menu options presented when seated that offer more choice. Great ambience and a proper US steak house in London. Drinks at the bar are also excellent. Will definitely be going back.
Food was amazing - theatre menu is such good value !
