SMOKESTAK
What Insiders Are Saying
If you’re looking for serious meats, Smokestak in Shoreditch is your answer. The Southern barbecue, especially the brisket, is the best in London.
Lovely food, excellent helpful service and nice atmosphere. The brisket bun is truly special.
I love pretty much everything about this place, but the burnt peach old fashioned and the brisket buns are something special. Can’t recommend enough.
Such a great restaurant with excellent food
I lived the pig tails & ox cheeks. The beef ribs stopped conversation completely they were so delicious.
The seating wasn’t great as we were on a tiny table & I had to sit on a shelf. My partner was constant knocked by those passing.
I loved every moment of being their though. It was a really great experience.
No question that I’ll be back
Outstanding on everything!! Super cozi and cool atmosphere. The waiters were the best sympathy I found in recent years and the food was amazing, seriously, sooo good!
The Greatest steak restaurant in London
Best food ever - suitable for all kinds of occasions
We shared a sea bass wonton unusual but delicious and pigtails couldn't have the ox cheek because of my dairy intolerance which was a great pity We had Brisket Pork belly Aubergine and Charred greens which were all excellent and very tasty Nice Rioja and left well sated A great evening out Will be back
Great place Nice food perfect service try the aubergine and the ox cheek
Nice meals, tasty and different. Interesting place to visit.
The ambience makes me feel like it’s a horror slaughter house but in a good way since it is a meat based place. The menu I had offered ox cheeks and I haven’t experienced a place that cooked this ingredient as well as this place. Another great dish that I believe that mesh Japanese and Modern Western taste together was the mackerel, this was perfectly cooked - it was simple, beautiful presented and consistent sized. I’ve wanted to try this place for quite some time and I’ve heard many amazing reviews, after tasting their food it was worth the wait. However, some of the dishes can be overly salted but that can be easily adjusted within the cooking process. Overall it was fantastic - the services by the staff there also was super friendly. I highly agree that services in restaurants elevate the experiencing of dining
Amazing meal here on a Saturday evening. We sat at the bar in front of the kitchen so could watch everything being made. The staff were very friendly and helpful explaining the menu. Pigs ears were auper tasty. My only complaint is that we are so much meat we couldn’t fit pudding in..next time!
Oh my life, the food was astonishing! Pig tails, beef rib, pork belly & beef brisket were all totally magical and our veg sides were delicious and perfect with all of that meat. Will defo visit again. Everyone at the table is now a big fan 😋
Great ambience, everything was sort of as expected and better. Very modern and vibrant restaurant if you're into your meat dishes.
Went there with visiting friends and we were amazed by the outstanding food and restaurant environment. Aubergine and brisket are the best, and would definitely visit again.
Excellent as always
Great place to sit at the counter and watch the kitchen magic happening! And the food is amazing! Good to order a few things and share with 2-3 people. Or individual plates too.
Good comfort/slowfood. Friendly and helpful staff.
Simply fantastic! Tasty food, good service!
Great food and atmosphere
Wonderful work lunch. Great food and great staff. Can't wait to come back.
Always fantastic food, carnivore's delight
Perfect! The food was heavenly good!!
Awesome will be back soon
Small brisket buns & pigtails fingerlicking good. Pork belly rib very good, but meat at one end of the bone a bit dry.
Wonderful food for friends to share - the brisket bun is outstanding, as was the pastrami, and ox cheek, and mushrooms on toast! Great service with menu recommendations.
Consistently very good. I can recommend the crispy ox cheeks starter and the 30 day dry aged beef rib and the house larger is not to shabby either as it goes perfectly with the food.
Three friends met for lunch and stayed most of the afternoon. We were very fortunate as it was a warm October day and we sat outside people / car watching (so can’t comment on indoor seating/ ambience). Menu is designed for sharing which suited us very well and the food was very good. Wines start at a reasonable price, we have the cheapest red (Rioja) which was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient, we were not hassled to leave even though we were still there at 4.30. Shame they don’t do coffee.
Smokestak remains one of my favourite restaurants in London. I have brought different people here over time and they have all been impressed. My friends said these were the best aubergine and potatoes they ever had. Everything is so tasty, cool but casual atmosphere and friendly service with a shout-out for my friend's birthday. Only small (-) was that one of the meats was a bit cold this time. Most people do not get to the desserts there but they are actually outstanding.
For who like me most of the time eat meat-free, this place is where to go for remember why eating meat sometimes is good! Btw also the eggplant and the salad worth the visit.
Service was terrible. Showed up to our reservation and while they had open space, were asked to go downstairs to the bar while our table was prepped. At the bar, there was no bar tender. Waited ten minutes and went back up to where our table still wasn’t ready and they asked us to get a drink at the unmanned bar... decided to just wait. After being seated, did not get service or water or menus for ten min. Had to stop servers multiple times to ask for water, then drinks but the person who took our drink order wouldn’t take our order for appetizers. Our server finally came and seemed annoyed that he had to serve us and asked for our drink orders again because he forgot what the other person had told him we wanted. Then we had to call him back to order our meal. That was the start and not much better from there...
Such good food
Great food and staff. Deco is nice and clean facilities. Portions are on the smaller side but the quality and taste packs a punch. Would like to visit again.
All food was too salty!
Love this place. Meat is delicious!
Best BBQ place in London. Consistently high levels of service and food quality. Sea Bream and Ox Cheek are amazing.
We picked this place on a whim, however it turned out to be better than expected. We love the industrial feel, were well looked after, service and atmosphere was great yet not overly noisy so could comfortably chat, food was fabulous and good value considering where you are (Shoreditch). Have already recommended it and were looking forward to going back some time soon...
Food was good and served quickly. Brisket was overpriced for quantity of meat
Always great food but this time the service was really slow and we waited a while for our food. Might be because we were sitting outside.
Really nice spot for a bite to eat. If you like smokey bbq flavour and an atmosphere that equals that you will love this place. Staff were really nice and helpful, food was well priced and options for vegetarians were really interesting.
Smokstak is the best barbecue in London for not only the meats but also the excellent sides that make it more interesting than most BBQ restaurants. It’s a little expensive but worth it.
