Food was great. Sea bass had great flavor. Salmon was delicious. Tres leches was tasty, but not quite the famous tres leches they used to serve. It is more-so a pound cake. The service unfortunately was quite slow. Our server was very nice and polite and apologized for the wait. It seems they were understaffed.
Excited about this restaurant and hope it continues to grow under the new leadership.
Sunday evening. Quiet. Food was delicious. Service was good but very slow. Was told there was a fifteen person party in the back. Wanted a particular drink but was also told they didn’t have a bartender that night. Ordered a wine that was spectacular but still missed my Sazerac. Didn’t have desert because we had been there so long. Maybe next time. Still love the place and food was spot on!
Took nearly two hrs to get our food. We will not be back. Very disappointed
Great food and service!! Unique place!!
To be fair this review is based on dining that took place on New Years Eve. The Prix Fixe menu options were ok, but the taste of the food was well, not great. The person who ordered all vegetarian options seemed to have the best luck overall, but when paying for expensive dining luck isn’t what your looking for....The best things going for So are it’s quaint ambience and it’s bartender.
This is the place we always go to whenever there is a special occasion that being disappointed is not an option. Best restaurant in central Arkansas. It is not cheap. Neither is the food.
Excellent food and fantastic service.
Excellent food. The ambiance is spectacular as you eat in a hidden cave. Great wine. Menu has expanded considerably. As people have said the tres leches and chocolate sack desserts are unmatched in the city.
We came in to celebrate our anniversary and noticed there were only two other tables of people dining. We were sat in the very back room (almost like an enclosed patio). It took about 5 minutes before we were greeted and given water. The server didn’t introduce himself and was very rushed. We ordered one drink and a shrimp cocktail appetizer immediately. When he checked back, we ordered our meal (Chicken with Shishito and Scallops). It took well over an hour to receive our food. At least 30 minutes in between without seeing our server to ask for another drink or water. He told us there was a party of 10 downstairs and that was why it was taking so long. During the few brief times the server checked on us, he kept calling my husband “my man.” Very off putting. There was another gentleman (possibly maitre d?) Who actually spent more than 30 seconds talking to us. He explained menu items, refilled water, and was apologetic about the wait. When the food finally arrived, it tasted good. That’s the only positive thing I can say. But for the menu prices, you are paying for the whole experience, which was terrible. We were there 2 full hours and declined to stay for dessert. After the bill was presented we were told they took off my husband’s drink. Very too little, too late. There were so many missed opportunities to make the insane wait more bearable (how about bring bread to the table? Or have the server spend a minute or two building rapport. Or offer to buy an anniversary dessert instead of asking if we have time for desert, then joking that’ll it’ll be quicker than dinner “my man”). We were very disappointed with our experience and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Very slow service on a not too busy night, but the food was excellent.
We were happy with everything but the music choice and volume
From the beginning it was a disaster. Poor service, under cooked steak and overall a disappointment to be celebrating such a great occasion (my wife’s 50th birthday).
Best part was the free desert which we all enjoyed at home.
It had been awhile since we had dined at So. Glad we came back, mussels/clams were excellent and I can recommend the sea bass and duck. Overall, a great meal and enjoyable. Will return soon!
Restaurant has a very good wine and drinks selection. The food and service were average and much less than expected from a restaurant at this price point.
Great service! Very carrying! Definitely will back!
While I would still recommend SO, my second dinner in 2 weeks here was somewhat disappointing. Once again we had somewhat simple questions about the food that the waiter was unable to answer. (Please, for a restaurant of this caliber - learn was comes with entrees and what some of the sauces are!) A steak wasn't cooked anywhere near what was ordered. It wasn't too busy (a Wednesday night) and yet it took quite some time to get our second round of drinks, as in, maybe he forgot? Deserts this time: creme brûlée was tiny (I didn't taste it) and the white cake was lousy (but I don't like white cake so maybe that's on me). I still like this place, especially the ambience. However, dinner #3 (whenever that will be) will be a make-it or break-it occasion.
Should be 10 stars! High praise and no complaints ! Will be our “go to” restaurant for special occasions!
SO continues to update itself and reinvent. If you haven't been to SO in the last 6 months, then you need to give it another chance. The food is cooked well, constantly innovating with specials, great service, outstanding wine selection...and most importantly...they care that you have a great experience.
Food was delicious, scallops perfectly prepared to the chocolate sack desert which is a dessert for 4 people.. great food, service and ambience.. perfect for a date or special occasion
Was really looking forward to this meal because of such good ratings. I got the chicken Marsala, the chicken came out dry, there was not enough sauce or mushrooms and the peppers and onions over powered the dish. My husband got the pork chop which was drowned in sauce, so much so that it over took the taste of the pork. The service was excellent but at $35-$50 a plate I expected a lot more out of the food. Really disappointed.
Great food. Outstanding service. Wine list and somm are great.
Amazing wine list, amazing ambiance, and amazing food! Already planning our next visit to try the highly reviewed scallops.
Wanted to give it 5 stars across the board, but being a critical (picky?) foodie, I feel the need to point out just a couple things that would improve the meal. One, while the waiter was very nice, giving just the right amount of attention, he should have known the menu a little better. Two, while the Chocolate Sack (a frozen chocolate box) dessert was good, it was lacking that "to die for" taste. But worse, in my opinion, it was actually difficult to eat. The waiter even joked about trying to pry into the frozen square. Having said that, I loved the quiet (it was a slow Sunday night), romantic atmosphere (important to me as I was entertaining an old GF I hadn't seen in 20 years!), the fact that one of the managers stopped by the table to check on us, a very good wine list and my salmon was cooked just right. I look forward to going back!
Mediocre in every way.....and I’ve always loved this restaurant.
The food and ambiance were amazing. I loved the extensive wine list. Our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable. Our appetizer and food filled is up. I'm definitely coming back.
The butter poached filet was amazing. Probably the best steak in Little Rock
First time at this restaurant, and we were not disappointed. We liked the simple but varied menu and the extensive wine list for a place this size. The cheese board we shared was beautiful, and the house-made accompaniments were unique and spot on. The cheese selections could have been a bit more daring, though. The steaks 2 of us had were excellent prime beef and cooked perfectly medium rare. The schnitzel one of us had was good but a little bit over-salted. The shoestring potatoes, however, stole the schnitzel show. The presentation of the mashed potatoes with bone marrow, served in a half, hollowed bone, was fun, though the marrow might have been a bit overwhelmed. We shared a special of seared scallops with a marinara and white chocolate sauce - surprisingly delicious. And the chocolate sack, a desert we used to have in another city some thirty years ago, was as wonderful as everyone says. To be candid, the prices were just a tad steep, (e.g. $38 for the 4 scallops and risotto) but as with so many restaurants, the server's attention, enthusiasm and good humor made that thought disappear during the dinner. Will definitely return the next time we're in town.
Great service, amazing food! A must eat place in Little Rock!
What a terrific find, wonderful creative food, attentive service and comfortable ambiance.
Brought wife and grandma for birthday celebration, delightfully surprised by having a brunch menu. Service was excellent, food amazing. Got to talk with the chef, which I always enjoy. Good time can't wait to go back!
Went for brunch. Everything on the menu is great. Love the french toast. Best sausage gravy and bisuits in town.
Delicious food in a quiet, intimate setting. Brought my sister from out of state and we were both impressed. I had the duck and wild rice, she had the chicken marsala, and we both had the white chocolate lavender creme brulee. Amazing! And our bill was half of what it was at another fine dining restaurant in Little Rock. Can't wait to go back!
The staff and food were wonderful!!! I am so glad we decided to try out SO Restaurant.
Went for brunch. Outstanding food. In my opinion, the best french toast and sausage gravy/biscuits in town. My wife also loved the breakfast hash. This will definitely become our go-to spot for brunch.
Amazing service. Had a perfect wine pairing to go with each entree for each person's meal. Every dish was prepared to everyone's request. It was the perfect restaurant to catch up with old friends. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was outstanding.
Delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed every bite! Looking forward to our next visit!
Good portions, 7oz filet is more like 10oz, blackened steak salad is big. The filet was cooked perfectly medium rare and was well seasoned. The pating of the steak was interesting as the mashed potatoes were in a bone, looked cool but was impractical taking up so much room on the plate! The steak on the steak salad was what you can expect on a salad but there was a good amount on it. The dressing was yum. We ended our meal with the brick of chocolate and rasperry ice cream(forget what it was called), its massive and delicious. They also can make a pleasant cup of coffee which put the icing on the cake for this dinner. All in all, a great meal. Our waiter was nice and even offered to take a picture of me and my date with the dessert and had a good conversation, instead of trying to shuffle us out to get the next people in. They offer window seating which is cool during the day but if you go in the back its a bit dark. The pricing on the food is fair for the amount you get and the tast of it all. Good SO restaurant!
Not really. The service was very pleasant, the food very much so-so. We should have gone to Whole Foods and bought something from their hot section to eat at the hotel, would have been better and much less expensive.
Great food, cool venue. Would go back
So is at the top of my list of fine dinning LR restaurants.
