Modern in its minimalist use of dark wood, clean lines and bare-as-a-baba’s-wotsit walls, Soho’s So looks every bit the contemporary Japanese restaurant. The airy ground floor bar, dining area and shop-of-sorts (Japanese crockery sits prettily in numerous display cabinets) leads down to a main dining room. The furniture there is still wooden but stained almost black. The cooking is consistently very good – creative without being fussy, and much of it using organic ingredients. Menu in hand, make a visual beeline for the tempura selections (gorgeous), and then Grilled list. These knockout dishes – most notably the Wagyu rump, and Iberico pork – are cooked in the open kitchen over a rather special yogan-yaki grill resulting in an unique flavour. Friendly staff will knowledgeably suggest dishes and drinks.

My fiends and I had a lovely time at this place.
The food was remarkable. We ordered the large sushi platter advertised as for 3 or 4 and all four of us had our fill and then some. And everyone commented on how good it was.

I am a regular customer and always happy with the authentic Japanese foods. Lunch menu is particularly good value, and they have a loyalty card and can get discount if you collect enough stamps. Quality of their chef's sushi (£25) is excellent.

Tuna was off but the rest was good. Fair to say that it was not worth the price as the most expensive pieces were tuna chutoro.

Ground floor have a busy environment, however the downstairs is another story. Quite, with slow music, the best you can have for an amazing Japanese night

Delicious food and great menu selection, however service was terrible and was extremely difficult trying to get the attention of the server to clean the table and to get the dessert menu and also getting the bill.

Lovely gem. Wonderful food. The fatty tuna was divine, the aubergine exceptionally well cooked. Sitting at the bar, surrounded by Japanese couples and groups of friends, we knew we were in good hands :-)

A real and authentic Japanese restaurant right in the centre of London that is full of Japanese enjoying great, classic dishes. The service is quick and efficient so a good play to get something quick to eat before the theatre.

Always a delight. Fresh, delicious food (including deserts - try the raspberry mousse!), polite and attentive staff, quiet and cosy. I always end up having sashimi because I know I can trust this place for a fresh and varied selection. A nice sake menu too - you can order a tasting set, otherwise the staff are more than happy to help you choose (I haven’t tried the wine so can’t comment on that). You can sit at the table or watch the chefs prepare your food at the bar. Never waited too long for my food. Oh and as someone who loves pottery I can say the tablewares are beautiful and there are so many different types!

So is a good choise if you are looking for a cosy ambient (still Japanese) in Regent Street. The service was very good and food excellent. Unfortunately we had a table exposed in the middle of the room, but incredibly quiet to have a nice conversation. Try the ice cream!

Our overall experience was good, the staff was friendly though we had to catch their attention when we wanted to order our food, or another drink. The sushi and sashimi platter our friends shared was great, really good quality ingredients, nice presentation. The chicken didn't really taste great and the wagyu beef starter just doesn't really work - it would be better grilled rather than cold. We tried the tofu steak, that was also delicious and the starters were also nice.
