Great service
The restaurant is upscale with a great vibe. However, I found myself wondering if they are trying too hard and not allowing the high end food to make the statement. They do not allow the ingredients shine. They missed the mark on a few dishes. For example, their Burrata appetizer had cherry tomatoes that were smoked. The smokiness was so strong that it masked the wonderful taste of tomatoes. It was a put off and we did not eat the tomatoes. Very unfortunate for a $26 appetizer. The other example was their very tender Wagyu steak for $55. On her first bite my daughter said "this tastes like hot dogs". Thinking she was joking, I tried the steak and sure enough, it was a poorly smoke piece of meat that gave you the impression you were eating a hot dog. She had to mask the unpleasant taste with hot chilis. Again, a miss on not allowing a great cut of meat to shine...to clarify, there was no mention or description of smoking either dish on the menu. I now regret not sending back both dishes.
One would expect more from a high end restaurant promoting itself as authentic Italian. You can get much better food at a mid range resto in Yorkville.
Go for a drink and enjoy the ambience..skip the food.
Portion sizes small, branzino was basic and bland and basic pasta dish was done erroneously. Our party was overcharged and we had to address it three times before the restaurant management figured out they overcharged us in error - it showed a credit on the bill, but the credit wasn’t actually applied. Careful, folks!
Sofia continues to be my favourite restaurant! The food is unmatched and the service is amazing. I’ve never been disappointed by this place! Perfect place for a nice date night.

When I booked Sofia, I had mentioned in the booking that it was a birthday celebration for my husband. I also mentioned it to the receptionist when I called before the actual date and asked for a candle to be brought with a cake to our table. Previously, every restaurant I’ve been to to celebrate a special occasion or a birthday, they have gone the extra mile with their level of service to bring one of your meals with a candle and bring it to surprise the guest, without me asking. But I was disappointed to see they did nothing to delight their guests. Ambiance and food were both great but overall, I wasn’t completely satisfied and felt the birthday celebration was incomplete.
This place has such a great mix of people. The ambience is classy, the food is great, service is friendly and knowledgeable about the food without being stuck up. Beautiful decor, clean bathrooms.

Going to Sophia’s on a Thursday night when there is live music is a bonus. Go for drinks and music! As for food the food isn’t the best Italian We have had in the city but that being said it isn’t terrible. It is quite pricey but totally worth your time for ambience service and cocktails.
We sat in the bar and had the best time even though it was quiet. Kirk was great. Perfect balance of personality and professionalism. I’m in the service industry and he was one of my best recent servers. Thanks again.

3 of the 4 diners in my party got violently ill after eating at Sofia. Coincidentally they all had the same meal. At $45 for a plate of pasta only to get home and be sick, does not leave a great lasting impression. As an observation, the menus were beaten and in poor condition which doesn't represent the quality that the restaurant is trying to exude. I will say the service is good though. The wait staff is very attentive and professional.
Our Anniversary dinner for my wife and self, number 35, the service, food and staff were excellent and would recommend this restaurant with enthusiasm.

Beautiful space, and a having live music was a nice touch. Our server was outstanding, very attentive and did the best he could considering how busy the restaurant was. We saw the tail end of the dinner service and our server was still very energetic and fresh and did a very very good job. The hostesses were courteous, although weird to see one them walking around with her shoes half off in a venue like that. I expected a higher end vibe which was achieved through the uniforms and the building and amenities, but was lessened due to the loud and crude table next to us, not classy in any way.
Sofia is getting better every time we dine there.

Unfortunately food was underwhelming. BUT, the great fun atmosphere more then made up for the lack luster food!
Food was good. Ambiance was okay. Not much to speak of as we got there early. Didn't appreciate the waitress padding the bill with bottles of water and cracking them open without asking us first.

Great food, nice place, staff helpful. But noise level was crazy. Unable to hold a regular conversation. And to put a table of 35 at a birthday party near all the other dinner guests is crazy. No way to chat with so many folks making so much noise. Create a private space or a party room so the other people eating can enjoy their dinner.
