Sol y Sombra has been Dundee’s most popular tapas bar since it opened in 2011. Born out of a love for Spanish food and culture, we have created a menu of fresh, authentic and simple tapas. The aim is to recreate the feel of a typical Spanish family meal, so everyone has to share and enjoy the meal as one.

The food, wine, and service at this tapas restaurant were excellent. Every dish was flavorful, the wine paired perfectly, and the staff was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended!

We were a table of eight ladies down from Aberdeen and absolutely delighted with the service (young girl sorry didn’t get her name )nothing was too much trouble asked everyone of us out preferred food The food was outstanding Will definitely be back

Having dined at Sol Y Sombre previously we thought the food was a little disappointing, a lot of dishes were the same as previously and looking on the website at sample menus this is what we expected. However, some dishes were of a lower standard than previous experiences ie chicken salad now potato salad and no meatballs (one of our favourites). There were a lot of drinks on the menu also unavailable, possibly due to a new menu coming. Overall we had a nice evening as we were out with friends and it was their first experience there. Understandably it is under new ownership and they’ll be finding what works and changing things as they go. We’ll definitely try again…hopefully the meatballs will be back on the menu!

Went to Sol Y Sombra as a 4 on Saturday evening. A resounding 5 stars across the board from us. Lovely selection of Tapas presented and clearly described by our knowledgeable and attentive waitress. Every dish a success and really like the set price approach with plenty food. Bread and starters complemented the selections in the main serving, with the chorizo, cheese, prawns and skewers being the standouts. Really nice ambience in the restaurant with Spanish themes.
