Some of the best Thai food and friendliest Staff in London
All the food we had was really exceptional, except for the deserts which we didn’t find that great!
We had a sudden wish for Thai food and lighted upon Som Saa. Easy for us to get to and reviews were good. The food was very good but it is not inexpensive and we would advise ordering rice per person rather than sharing one portion as we did. Service cannot be faulted and all staff really lovely. Well worth a visit.
I love Som Saa. The food is ace. The space is great. The cocktails are great. The people who work there are friendly and fun. Go at lunch when you can book or do a larger party in the evening when you can book so that you don't have to wait. Don't go alone so that you can try as many things from the menu as possible. Wear a shirt that masks stains just in case. You don't want to have to be prim and proper and careful while you're enjoying the food!!
Probably the best Thai restaurant in London!
Lovely experience all round. Great interiors with a good vibe. Food is unbelievably tasty, the flavours are incredible.
Drinks are of average quality and food are not as good as expected
Seabass must order a bit pricey for the food and really authentic Thai but good food.
I have been a few times now and couldn't recommend it more. There is a reason Som Saa is on all the top places to eat lists for London!
First visit to Som Saa did not disappoint. Recommended by a colleague and I can see why. The food was delicious, staff very helpful with both food and wine choices and the décor is great. Favourite dishes were definitely the pork belly and the seabass which is to die for. Now planning my next visit!
Splendid as always!
Authentic thai food but a bit overpriced
All around great dining. Recommend the whole fried seabass.
Avoid sitting next to the kitchen window if you can - your clothes will smell afterwards.
A nice place to eat. its spicy, different and cosy.
Had lovely food and great service, will definitely be coming back
Delicious authentic food. Customer service needs to be a bit more efficient
Really nice decor and atmosphere. Great bar and good service. After a couple of drinks we moved into the main restaurant where the atmosphere was equally fun.
Service was pretty good - quite a few hipster types but they seemed friendly enough. As likely to give you a talk on sustainability as bring you the craft beer you ordered.
Food was tasty. Four of us had the “tasting menu” at about £30. Oh my word there was so much food. Papaya salad was delicious, fish curry yum etc. All good, though the whole sea bass was not all that I didn’t think (unless you’re into SALT!).
We also enjoyed the delicious ice cream yum yum.
All in all a fun evening and definitely recommended.
We really enjoyed our meal here - its the fourth time we have visited this restaurant. Cocktails really well made and the dishes were all delicious. We chose a set menu which enabled us to try a lot of different things for £30 each. The service was perfect until the point where we had opted to pay 10% tip (already over £20 out of a £200 bill for four people) rather than the "recommended" 12.5% and the waiter came back to query it in a way that made us feel uncomfortable and that the "recommendation" was not actually that flexible. So I think they just need to include service or let people choose whatever tip they think reflects the service - this made me think twice about returning for visit number 5.
My 6th experience at Som Saa, (including the pop up) and it never fails to disappoint.
Took my hubby here for his birthday 2 years on since we had been last.
As ever, the food was excellent and staff laid back and friendly. Wine well recommended with a great choice.
To use the word 'authentic' is loaded with judgement - most of the time it is bandied around without much meaning. But if you truly love Thai food, have lived in Thailand and miss some of the cuisine (it's mostly Northern at Som Saa), I haven't a doubt you'll be delighted here. I was frightened that it would have gone the way of many great restaurants (such as Pulpo) and started to compromise it's quality while racking up the price, but not the case.
Waiter was v attentive without being intrusive and gave husband a treat bec it was his birthday.
I won't describe the food in detail, I'll merely say it was so good and rich with its balances that I could have cried.
Everything was fantastic. Will go again; hoping for less pressure to release the table next time.
Great eating out experience. Really good Thai food.
Thought the food was delicious and well presented. I also liked the decor and vibe of the place. Not that cheap but where is nowadays?!
Tasty food... but you basically had to prepare it on your own. Also, with all the hype I expected better atmosphere
Cozy inside, nice simple menu, kind friendly staff and amazing food. Whole fried fish was great.
Great food and excellent service.
Visited before always consistently superb packed with fresh flavours and deliciously Thai.
Definitely in the top three Thai restaurants in London, never disappoints
Such a great place. Staff went above and beyond explaining dishes, so attentive, great table placement, amazing food!
Delicious zingy vibrant Thai menu, not too extensive so you know everything is fresh and choosing is not too difficult. Between 4 of us we chose 6 mains and 3 rices and had a few drinks, it came to £35 per head. I'd worried it would be a bit loud but not at all, we could chat happily.
We went to celebrate my cousin's engagement and they took such good care of us! Plus the food is totally delicious. Make sure to order the aubergine salad with prawn floss.
Excellent, good food and drinks match. Decor straight from Salvage Hunters industrial furniture catalogue but makes for a Hoxton hipster vibe but not at the expense of the food.
Always lovely dining at Som Saa. Great Thai food - authentic fresh flavours with the right amount of spice. Every friend that I've brought here has returned, a real testament of Som Saa's excellence. Staff were always friendly and attentive. Cocktails and tea selection are also a real treat. We're lucky to live in London but have a real taste of Thailand. Will return of course.
The food was excellent. An excellent place to have dinner with some old friends.
Best meal I’ve had in a long time! Far exceeded all expectations. Great food, friendly service, huge portions, creative designs and beautiful atmosphere.
Very accommodating as we were 45 mins late. I had phoned asking if they could keep the table and they were happy to do so. Very unusual for a Fri night in a popular restaurant!
Waiter was brilliant.,helped with the menu and when we couldn't decide which wine to have, he came back with samples to try to help us choose..,very impressed!!' That doesn't often happen
Wine however very overpriced- always is- £32 for an average bottle?? Really? Ah well...,,
Fab evening, great place, unusual food but have to say am never going to try Tamarind again! Smells and tastes horrific!! You have been warned!!
Nice food and good atmosphere in this asian pearl of the City. A bit outside usual city buzz but still very easy to reach.
Great tasting dishes, unusual flavours and all cooked to a high standard. Far, far superior to your average Thai restaurant, and while the vegetarian options are limited, they are delicious. Will definitely return
Great food and very pleasant waiter. Fantastic cocktails too. Waiter was very helpful regarding my vegan requests. Wasn’t too impressed with being sent straight to our table by the woman at the front desk. Barely smiled at us, and even though only 4 of us 6 had arrived , she sent us to table because the bar was busy. Unfriendly. Good job the waiter was lovely. Also, air con would be welcome. Restaurant was far too hot
Amazing service, food and price. Cannot recommend this place enough
Gold food with quick service. Try the sea bass. Portions are small but made for sharing.
