served all day Sunday & Wednesday Evening only
Excellent service even though they were very busy.
The food was amazing, as it has always been previously. There was a large party in the restaurant but the staff managed this very well. We were offered a seat in a quieter part of the pub. There was a slight billing issue but it was quickly resolved and we left very happy with our visit. We will definitely be back, as we feel it is the nicest place locally to have a enjoyable lunch.
Good value for money, tasty lunch menu ... haven't been for an evening meal. Lovely, friendly service from the waiting staff. Easy to book online.
Food was disappointing, vegetable lasagne was mainly pasta and tomatoes with grated cheese on top, no flavour and no bechamel sauce, steak was overcooked and the chips seemed dry as though they had been kept hot and not freshly cooked.
Great value and excellent quality. And the staff were excellent
Although the place was packed we had a booking for 6/30 we had our meal within 15 minutes staff were pleasant meal was good.no complaints
We go regular on a Wednesday, but the carvery was not up to usual standards , roast potatoes were poor , seemed reheated, gravy tasteless and cauliflower cheese was watery. Poor for them unfortunately
Had a lovely lunch with my friend. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Such a lovely, clean and friendly little village pub, will definitely go back again.
Lovely food and friendly staff! Food was great value for money
Went for Sunday lunch. Excellent food and good portion sizes. Really good value for money. Staff fantastic
Lovely food, lovely deco, sue the waitress amazing amazing x
We were recommended to try here and we were not disappointed. What a gorgeous place. Great food, superb service, lovely garden area. Before and after our meal we sat in the garden area in one of the huts. Plenty of shade for those that wanted it. We dined inside and staff could not have been more helpful. We were a large party and even though the pub was busy we were well looked after.
If I lived closer it would be a regular place to visit. We will be back though.
Starters were lovely
Mains were mixed
What did not help was an accident leaving both my sisters and my dads partners cream cardigans covered in curry sauce put a dampener on the experience
Have been here before and had a great meal. This time the starters were great. I had the fishcakes, my wife the pate. Excellent. For mains I ordered what was described as chicken in a garlic and mushroom sauce with a rosti and parmesan shavings. What appeared was a breast of dry, overcooked chicken with what resembled a mushroom soup sauce.(thick, tasteless no garlic) and a piece of undercooked pale potato cake drenched in the sauce. No parmesan. What surprised me was it was served with chips, peas and carrots! Pretty disgusting. They took it off the bill but ruined our day. I think they have problems in the kitchen. The manager came to see us and said they have had problems with their last delivery of chicken. So why serve it? Shame. We may comeback and try again if only to see if this was a once off
Decent food and good sized portions, so much so we couldn’t finish our meals. Chilli Salmon was good but I would drop out the roast potatoes, as the salmon and stir fried vegetables are more than enough.
Waitresses were attentive without being intrusive and we never felt rushed. Restaurant was very quiet however and that impacted on the ambience a little.
Overall, we were happy with the Sondes Arms and would definitely go again.
It was ok, it doesn’t live up
To its website sadly.
Lovely pub/restaurant! Great food at a good price! Atmosphere was nice and service was good. 100% recommend
The food was delicious and all the staff friendly.
Felt very welcome, great atmosphere, really well looked after by the staff. Had a really lovely evening, thank you all!
Wonderful meal as always! Polite staff , prompt. Very clean.
We went to The Sondes Arms for lunch and were very disappointed, one of my party wanted the Beef Lasagne it wasnt available so she chose the Camembert only to be told that wasnt available either so she chose the Nachos which when they came were very over cooked and the salsa had made the nachos soggy. My granddaughter wanted plain pasta and was told that you dont do plain pasta so had to have the nachos, my father ordered the cod and chips and it was a frozen piece of cod along with a portion of frozen chips which were not very hot. I had the chicken with mushroom and garlic sauce the chicken was very hard to cut as it was over cooked as well. we were very disappointed and sorry that we will not be coming back to the Sondes Arms
Wonderful old-world pub, refurbished inside; pleasant atmosphere; three excellent courses for just over a tenner! Be back soon!
Friendly welcome. Very enjoyable and excellent service.
We had the carvery which was delicious. We were directed per table to go and get our food, which was good. Would have preferred someone to help serve the vegetables and there were no screens to prevent people breathing all over the counter and the food. There was a large party in our section of the dining room who were very noisy making it difficult to hold a conversation without shouting. To leave for the car park we had to walk past a lot of tables where people were eating, and the dining room was very full. It is obviously a very popular place to eat, but felt the dining room was too full considering the current situation.
The food was very good. We waited for the drinks and the starter arrived before the drinks order.
Very noisy and echoing, a lot of banging. Would not go again, perhaps outside would have been okay.
Lovely meal . Efficient and very friendly staff . I definitely recommend a visit
Spent a lovely evening with good food and drink in a perfect setting.
Lovely food and very good value. Always a lovely meal x
We enjoyed the meal very much. 4 of us had the carvery & 1 the veggie lasagne. We weren’t sent up to the carvery until the lasagne had arrived which was ok. We weren’t very happy about the queue for the carvery as very few were social distancing & my son very politely asked a lady to keep further back. She was ok but the man ( son?) didn’t like it. Also no one apart from us was wearing masks. The staff were apart from the man doing the carvery who wasn’t!
Beautiful pub in a beautiful setting. Whether it’s a Sunday lunch or a romantic meal, this is the place to be. Fantastic value for money with great food.
Was a little apprehensive as friends had suggested the service and food was below par, but found it very enjoyable, food was excellent and staff very attentive.... Well done
Very slow service and brought dessert menu and did not come for our order for a long while Arthur WHITTAKER
Little concerning about the roof in the area we where sat in. Looked like it was going to come down and had just been randomly fixed but not professionally.
Other than that all was good
When we arrived we were seated for them to check if our table was ready, it then took half an hour and we had to remind them we were still waiting
Food was good, service slow. Servers unable to answer questions regarding wine or desserts. Servers wearing masks still so communication was poor as couldn’t hear what they were saying.
Great food, very busy Sunday. Staff were pleasant and helpful, just felt more info could be given about when you can go up for Carvery. Felt like a free for all at times!
We booked one of the igloos for lunch which incurs a fee but it was worth it to have a nice spacious area for lunch. All of our party opted for the carvery which was tasty and good value for money. The service for all wait staff was excellent. Would recommend 😀
It was really cold in there due to doors being open and the weather was cold and windy really struggled to eat with the cold temperatures
Also food over cooked
Poor food and service - disappointed to say the least! Pub itself is beautiful!
Had a lovely meal with my mum. we were very well looked after .very relaxing good value for money very clean
