Food was outstanding for the genre. Service was a bit slow and at times inattentive. Restaurant appeared to be a bit understaffed.
Great, authentic BBQ spot. Outstanding ribs. High quality food.
The service and food was good. The restaurant was on the warm side. Other than that I have no complaints.
The food was really good. I never at fat from the brisket but the way this was prepared it tasted so good lol.
IT was terrible. The shrimp was over salted the hush puppies were over cooked and after I complained about the shrimp the chef made me some grilled shrimp that were tough and tasted like show leather. Nobody ever checked to ask how the replacement dish was and they had no ventilation or AC and it was 95 degrees.
Overall experience was lackluster. Overpriced for average food. I had high expectations based off reviews and their Instagram. The cornbread and hush puppies were good, but their Mac and bbq platter didn’t blow me away. The servers were very nice, but the food took a long time to come out.
Excellent BBQ Joint! Very good ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Loved the cole slaw and cornbread too.
We went on recommendation of family members. We got the smoked chicken wings app of 5 which were very tasty and well done to a crisp. These are big wings. I went for Sophies surf & turf that I saw on menu online or the crabcake sandwhich, neither that were on the menu and there were no other specials that day? I got BBQ salmon as I was swayed by grits and grilled asparagus accompaniment. It was just ok . I love grits but these are very different and not much flavor. Salmon was a little fishy to me but in fairness it is my least favorite fish to eat so I made the mistake of getting fish in a barbecue/smoker place and probably should have known better. I tasted my hubbies 1/2 rack ribs which he raved and I thought they were great and very tender! He also got a cuban sandwich, which was very big and tasty. Do not go if your on a time limit as the chef does take his time but I like that as I feel he really cares about what he is putting out and I love the break between app & entree as I abhor getting food all at once! Some dishes we saw go by looked so interesting! Portions are large so you will not leave hungry. Servers are friendly and good as it was very busy ! I would recommend making sure menu online is current as it appears to change as I found out. It is not cheap but I would go back try and other items.
I’d read a review about Sophie’s and wanted to try it. There’s street parking with meters. The outdoor dining is at picnic tables. It’s BYOB with a deli down the street that sells beer in case you didn’t bring anything with you. The food was delicious. We ordered the half pound of brisket meal which came with 2 sides and cornbread. I chose the potato salad and the Mac and cheese for the sides. We also had 5 wings. This was more food than 2 of us could finish (I brought home the leftovers and look forward to eating them for lunch). The Mac and cheese was served in a small cast iron skillet with extra cheese on top. It would’ve been enough for a main meal. They serve lemonade and cane sodas. The people were friendly. We’ll definitely be returning.
We mostly enjoyed the food, but the service was inconsistent and the outdoor seating wasn’t ideal. There were a lot of bugs and the seating was spaced rather closely together, and some tables were over grates and gave the feeling of sitting in an alley.
The food is really good. I was very impressed. Please note that this is a BYOB place and the service is slow so bring a few extra beers or bottles and enjoy the wait. The service is under resourced but the food is so good. We had the Brussel sprouts covered in cheese that were wonderfully charred. The brisket was fall apart. They give you a knife but you don’t need it. The sides were also very good - fresh cut sweet potato fries and baked beans. The corn bread is so good. Better than my wife’s unfortunately. I think we may have to come back to Ardmore more often.
Food was fair service was excellent
Great barbecue. They were quick, courteous and the chicken /rib combo was fine.
Great experience. Resturant def needs additional staff but the waitresses did the best that they could with the number of customers in the establishment. ( as well as the online & take out orders)
Will defiantly visit again..
Brisket was absolutely spot on!!! Hats off to Greg!
I will happily come back. The food was out of this world. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Please keep the surf and turf so I can bring my husband!
Was disappointed they ran out of ribs. Appetizers were amazing. Main course not so much. I went on 4 of July so I will give a pass. Staff were nice.
The food was amazing. The service was exceptional! The whole experience was superb! The best barbecue I’ve tasted in a long time!
Pretty good experience as first timers
Awesome place to go enjoy your dinner
Food was fine, ribs were tender but brisket was tough. Cornbread was good, food took a long time to come out. Flavor was OK.
Food was delicious, service was over the tip and menu selection recommended by the staff was amazingly scrumptious.
Great Father's Day meal.
My favorite Ardmore restaurant! Food is so delicious. The bbq brisket is the best I have ever had! So amazingly tender. The side dishes are awesome, and the the corn bread and hush puppies are the best! Also, it is a BYOB, which is always great! The owner and servers are so kind and caring! The restaurant is very casual and located in a cute and quiet neighborhood in the heart of Ardmore. Parking is very easy as well. Can't wait until I eat there again!
Dining at Sophie’s was a fun, relaxing experience. While the inside seating was pretty small, my friend and I got a table outside. Chattering diners sat around us but were not disruptive by any means.
The staff was attentive, the food was superb, and the outdoor ambiance (that day*) was cozy.
Only caveat (not a complaint) was that it is a BYOB place. Luckily, they welcome you to purchase your own beer or wine at the Rittenhouse Deli next door to bring back to your table. Naturally, buying a six pack or a bottle of wine for a couple of friends is the ideal setup.
Overall, great spot in the Ardmore neighborhood! Would go back in a minute!
Love the atmosphere, especially the plant wall on the side of the building.
It took us almost 10 minutes to be seated. We kind of stood awkwardly in the door without being greeted. When we did sit, we were brought water and our appetizer quickly. But, each of the servers passed our empty water glasses several times. It was hard to get their attention. We also didn’t get our sandwiches for 45 minutes. I was half-appreciative because we had more room for our dinner but we hadn’t expected to be here for a 2 hour dinner.
Food was great. Loved the hushpuppies and sandwiches. I would say that toasted bread is very difficult to eat on a bbq sandwich but still delish nonetheless. I think we’ll come back for a to-go order but probably not full-table service again.
The food and service were very good. We all had the brisket platter which at $28 seemed pricey
This was our first time and we had the chicken sandwich. It was good but a little over cooked. We had the brisket sandwich which was delicious and had such a great combo of flavors and the pulled pork which was tender and had an excellent bbq sauce. This is such a nice little byob we can’t wait to return and try some other items!! The waitress was very helpful and pleasant as well!
amazing food, amazing service. truly amazed with the experience i had at here and definitely will be coming back again.
The sweet potato hush puppies were amazing, meat was tender and delicious!!
Best. Brussel. Sprouts. Ever. We both had the brisket melt and it was phenomenal. It’s BYOB which is awesome!
Great barbecue! Food and service are excellent. I would suggest outside dining on a hot day. No A/C inside. If you enjoy good barbecue, this is the place.
Unbelievably good pulled pork and sides. Clearly best in Philly and the burbs
It was cold and raining which dampens the mood but our perky cute waitress made it better. She was sweet. My date had the brisket sandwich. He’s weird and didn’t like the fatty parts but I actually like that part. Overall he said he enjoyed it. I had the salmon and grits with asparagus. It was delicious! I’m so mad because I got a box and left my food on the table. I was going to have it for breakfast the next say.
Food was incredible (as always), and the service was great!
The food was great but the service took a too long
The food was absolutely incredible!
Could be a great place, but is missing-managed. Not enough staff, long wait times for food and service. Food could be better if it was prepared with better detail and passion. The kitchen was overwhelmed with orders from the people eating in, the online orders and curbside that food seemed rushed(although it took super long) ... Food was either undercooked or overcooked
Nice atmosphere. Food came fast and was so good. I will be returning.
Good find in Ardmore. Lots of free parking at night.
Very enjoyable meal, top notch service, looking forward to my next visit!
