Sophie's Steakhouse Soho
We have eaten at Sophie 's Steakhouse several times before, and have always been impressed by the food and service.
Steaks weren’t very good. Had to send first back as it was tough.
Good steak good service convenient location competively priced
Great food and service , and such a hottie working on the front desk who sorted us out with a table after we messed up the times ...
It was my first time at Sophie’s. Yes, it is Christmas parties time! However waiting an hour for a starter not acceptable. The food was average, we had planned to have steak but was not impressed. ( our favourite for steak is Goodman) The restaurant style and space is great
Overall only'good' as the food is average for the price and location, better options in this part of town
Overall this place is great, with delicious food set in a really buzzy atmosphere.
However, after a slight mix up with our booking, I was surprised with the attitude of the member of staff dealing with us. Rude is an understatement. Everyone else was lovely, it was just a shame this chap let the place down.
£42 for a very average steak, chips 2 soft drinks and a coffee. Steak took 35 mins to arrive. Won’t be returning
No cockles/ bread for starters. All had Sunday roast food was lukewarm. Desserts ok, very disappointing.
excellent booking process and confirmation request 24hrs before is a good idea.Ribeye steak although good wasn`t as outstanding as the one I had in Covent Garden!
After being seated at our "table" our party of 4 were not happy, as despite booking a restaurant table for four people well in advance, we were seated in what looked to us like the bar area, at two seperate, tiny round tables pushed together. One of us had to sit on a small couch, another on a small armchair, and the other two of us on mis-matched chairs. This lead to us all being sat at different heights and 2 of us very uncomfortable, having to eat with the table almost at chest height. There is another raised area seperate from the bar area which is seemingly the actual restaurant as it had proper tables and seating. After complaining we were told nothing else was available. This was when we should have left because it went from bad to worse after that. 70% of the staff were running around like headless chickens with seemingly no clear goals or any leadership in sight. They were so stressed it made us feel uncomfortable. We ended up with food arriving at different times, missing side orders, and also mixed orders. Medium fillet steak instead of rare and rare sirloin instead of medium. Also, an item that we hadn't even ordered was being repeatedly brought to our table over and over by different service staff, some of whom reacted like it was our fault, audibly tutting and rolling their eyes etc. All in all we couldn't wait to get out of there and will definately not be returning. The "old" Sophies was great, unfortunately this one is Sophies in name only. Awful.
The steak was amazing perfectly cooked (not cheapest value for money) and you can tell it was quality meat as it actually tasted like steak. Service was good but they were so busy that staff didn't have time to give personal service. The only thing we were disappointed about was that we booked and went after seeing it on 'master chef, for the fire pit grill but it was not being used.
It was lovely and filling. Well priced for a special occasion meal. However, one steak (sirloin) was over cooked considering it was meant to be rare. But it certainly wasn’t enough to complain about or ruin our evening. Many thanks.
Great time on a busy Friday evening. The cocktails at the start were amazing. Although very busy we didn’t feel rushed at all. Food was lovely but huge portions! Next time we would order something smaller. Would definitely return.
Initial reception was very disappointing and repeatedly challenged as to whether we had a booking. Showed text confirmation to host who said “we don’t sent texts” and then had to open email to prove we had a reservation. One of our party had already been seated which seemed to outstrip their capacity to understand staggered arrival. Once seated service was quick and efficient
Traveled from Leicester especially to visit here, and we were not disappointed. Had planned to have a steak, but went for a Sunday roast, after seeing them. Massive plate full, the beef had been cooked over the coals for 5 hours, it was delicious, and melted in the mouth!
Having seen the restaurant on Masterchef I really want to check it out.. my friends all opted for the roast lunch and were not disappointed. However I went for the set menu and had the cracked wheat salad for starters which was simple and nice. For mains I went for the smoked salmon salad with fried bread and salad.. the salad was so disappointing it was full to the top with just iceberg lettuce and big chunks of tomatoes. The smoked salmon was overpowering and was just not tasty... which was a real shame. There were lots of other options which I’m sure would be great - unfortunately for me the salmon salad wasn’t :/
Great food and service, lovely atmosphere and pre-dinner cocktail was really nice
Lovely friendly restaurant very convenient for going to the theatre, great food and service.
Food was unreal and our waitress Simmone? was wonderful! She got the service just right and was efficient and friendly. Manager was really good too on the occasions he came over.
Great place we will definitely be back
I booked a table for my partners birthday and put this in my booking. When we arrived the nice waiter (i didn’t catch his name) showed us to our table and whispered to me checking it was my partners birthday and I nodded. We had a lovely table in front of the kitchen and our drinks were served quickly. We had a waiter called javier who was friendly but seemed too busy to listen as he forgot our main and desert orders and had to come back and ask us again both times what we’d ordered and even then we got the wrong desert. We saw waitresses serving puddings with birthday candles in to a table behind us and I was thinking we would be having the same after our meal. At the end of our meal we got the bill and that was that, no celebration. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. We came from Cornwall for a special occasion and I wouldn’t come back. The food was lovely but the service was awful.
Burger only availbe rare or well done - not medium
Tomato ketchup cold out of fridge.
I ordered sirloin steak “Rare” and asked if this was English rare or French rare and was assured it was English rare and not”Blue”. Steak arrived & it was not even warm. Sent it to be better cooked. Steak rather tough and tasteless.
A group of 6 attended for a meal, we were sat in more of the bar area so exceptionally busy - service pretty slow (lack of staff) we waited a long time after ordering dinner - some friends ordered from the specials menu, a sharing pork dish for 2 - huge amount of un-rendered/uncooked fat around the outside - in general food was fine if not expensive compared to other restaurants we have been too - I am not a fan of already added service charge, whether its option to pay or not . Pleasant enough evening in a very lively place
Lovely food, great setting, friendly staff - all at a reasonable price.
We had wings and beef croquettes to start they were amazing. Main we took the special Prime Rib of Beef for two it was the most succulent piece of meat I've ever had wash down with a lovely Rioja and to finish we both had a cheese board which was very good nice chunks of brie, blue and chedder nice crackers pieces of apple and celery which you don't normally get. Ambience relaxed, good music in the background and if you wanted to go just for a drink you can as well. Throughly recommended for anyone visiting London that loves meat.
the staff are very welcoming and attentive to your requirements will definitely be back
Amazing food just shame about waiting 10 minutes for a waiter to come and take a drinks order (it wasn't busy) The chateaubriand was deliciously cooked, just a tad over priced considering I work for a meat supplier and know exactly how much it cost to buy. However it was my wife's birthday so no harm in splashing out a bit.
Will definatly be back again and recommend to everyone!
Great Service - Great food ....Perfect in fact. Nothing too much trouble - knew what we wanted before we did !
Unfortunately none of the food was to our taste. The prime rib was full of fat and sinue, most of which we could not eat. Everything was under seasoned ie no seasoning at all. Even so far as the tomatoes. The garnish on the steak was dead and lifeless and looked like it was too long new. We were a party of 4 and only one of us ate the food. The rest of us had the chips. I’m actually massively disappointed, I had seen this place on master chef and on a holiday to London I couldn’t wait to try it. There were two positive points though. The service was good and they changed our booking at late notice.
Excellent meat, one of my best steak house in Europe
A very enjoyable experience THREE OF US DINED THERE - WE HAD TRAVELLED FROM IRELAND. sAW ON MASTERCHEF ORIGINALLY SO LIVED UP TO ALL EXPECTATIONS
Love the high ceilings and getting to see the open fire cooking pit. The food was great but some more training needed for the staff.
No one greeted me in entrance so I wandered around for a bit and looked st the fire pit & found someone who then found me the “host”.
I had a beer while waiting and asked what the alcohol % was of the two IPAs - the waiter didn’t know - who asked the bar man - who also didn’t know. “About 4-5%” was their guess. They happily let me taste so I picked the Malthouse one (nice). Afterwards I actually saw the ABV % on the back of the food menu (not the drinks one).
Food wise I asked the waiter what she thought re deciding between the ribeye and the short rib of beef. A blank look from her led me to ask if she has tried either of the dishes “no” was the answer with no apology. She was a perfectly nice waitress however either was vegan (but odd for a steakhouse worker) or management hadn’t got round to letting her try the food she was supposed to be selling.
I opted for the short rib which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. My fellow diner had a fillet steak which was also very good.
The sticky toffee pudding was ok but nothing to write home about (could have been a bit hotter, bigger and custard always better than ice cream!).
So overall a good experience but some work needed on training and product knowledge.
First time, we enjoyed it. Food was good, service outstanding. The only downside was the music was very bass-heavy, resulting in a constant low level this in your ears. Still, I'd go again.
Really disappointed to see no cooking on the fire. I ordered from the fire menu and still saw no action. You pay the price for the novelty yet get no novelty. It's the first time I've been to a restaurant where they've not acknowledged a birthday. Had the tip not already been included, I wonder if the waiter would have made more effort.
Couldn't have received better service. Fantastic steak.
Never disappointed with this place. Best steaks ever tasted!
Great food, great evening
Service excellent, very welcoming
We travelled from Plymouth especially for Sophies after its appearance on Celebrity Master Chef. I only wish Sophies was closer because we would eat there every opportunity. Very attentative waiter service with my allergies and outstanding quailty food. The prime rib did not disappoint.
Not been here before. Service was a bit mixed and we had to wait quite a while to order drinks . The food ( steaks) was very good and not bad value. Overall, been to better but been to worse.
Lovely venue, staff and food. We had a great birthday dinner.
