Sophie's Steakhouse Soho
Never disappoints, and the set menu makes it perfect :)
Poor vfm. I was expecting a premium experience at a premium price, but sadly only got the latter. Service below average, meal fine but nothing that you wouldn’t get in a chain steakhouse. Ribeye, fries, one drink and one glass of wine, scant change out of £60. That’s Rules’ prices and I wish I’d gone there instead.
This was second visit to Sophies, and both times the steak has been amazing...as has the other food (the creamed spinach is to die for!!!). Service is what I would expect from a restaurant of this type, but nothing beyond this and the atmosphere is one of fun and good times. For a big restaurant I felt a bit crammed in during this recent visit, it was OK, but would have preferred a bit more space between us and our neighbours - who despite being very pleasant and funny did encroach on our romantic date. All in all a great meal and fun experience, and I will definitely return here again.
The decor was homey.
The service was slow but wait staff was kind
The food was okay, nothing to rave about.
The English breakfast was flavorful.
The price was a little more than the food was worth.
Post show we arrived 30 minutes early for our 18.00 booking but this was no problem and we were shown promptly to our table. We ordered Gin and Tonics and were allowed plenty of time to choose from the menu before our order was taken. Service was quick and efficient even though the restaurant was full. Our steaks and ribs were superb with sides of sweet potato and spinach none of which could be faulted. A glass of Malbec was full of flavour and went well with the steaks. Desserts of baked cheesecake with a citrus marmalade topping were a delight, the citrus cutting into the richness of the cheesecake, delicious!
Thinking that the table would be required for the next sitting we asked for seats in the bar for an after dinner cocktail. As this was a Saturday night they were not able to accommodate us in the bar, so cocktails were brought to the table and we were under no pressure to leave. An excellent meal and experience, well done.
Great restaurant very busy and buzzy but still excellent food and service.
Food is amazing, I travel over 2 hours to eat there! Bar is perfect, relaxing and staff are good fun! A must go! I’ve been over 20 times in 4 years and going back in the summer! 👍
It was an ok venue, nothing special. The table we were given was almost on top of another. Far too close together. Tucked away. The chicken main course was ok, nothing special. The best part of the meal was the cheesecake.
Above and beyond satisfied, staff were super friendly and food was great 👍🏻
Despite contacting the restaurant weeks before to check there would be dairy free options available, we turned up on valentine's Day to be told they couldn't do any dishes without dairy and staff just shrugged and offered no options. We paid for drinks and left without eating. They charged service on the drinks, of course...
Stylish steakhouse but the food could do with an upgrade. Love the idea of the firepit but it lacked flair and drama. The steak was large but under seasoned and lacked flavour. We spent £300 for the four of us and would have been happy with the price if the food was without fault.
Unbeatable in all respects and the best dry martini - ever.
Great atmosphere and food as usual. Unusually service was extremely brisk almost to the point of rudeness. It felt as if we were being rushed through the meal which has never been the case before - and it was not full on a Wednesday.
Fab! Loved the food, friendly service and reasonably priced. Will be coming back :)
Husband, niece and myself had Sunday lunch, roast beef. It was excellent value for money. The beef was a lovely flavour, pink, with a hint of smoke. Roast potatoes, veg and gravy. Cocktails were a bit pricey, but probably not for Soho. Dessert was caramelised pineapple and coconut sorbet. Bill was £45 pp, 2 cocktails each. Great space and friendly staff.
Very surprised you charge for horseradish3 pounds! I was very shocked . Never ever should pay for this before ! Should be automatically with roast beef! Never we had check back ( some roast was cold). So many staff, all time we have to wait for long time to someone come look our table ! Very poor! I wouldn't be back and wouldn't recommend your place. Very disappointed!
Superb place for a dinner between friends. We had nice cocktails and wine, tasty food, perfectly cooked steaks, service was good and the atmosphere was great!
Food and table service was good. However the host station was a mess- taking far to long to help customers (I arrived 10 min before my reservation and wasn't helped till 5 min after the actual res time), allowing parties to skip those already in line- a huge party behind us was helped ahead of us... rude patron, unhelpful host.
Well located for a pre-theatre meal and the set menu is really good value.
Steak was dry and one of the poorer ones I’ve had in London. However staff were excellent and cocktails were lovely
Our view of this visit was tempered by the poor Bar service before we sat down to eat. Lots of staff behind the bar but verging on impossible to get their attention, one Guy staring into space, another focussing hard on aligning the glasses from the dishwasher. Eventually we got someone and asked for a drinks menu but that turned out to be a wine by the glass menu so we had to try again to attract attention for a cocktail menu. We eventually got that and had to endure a further wait before ordering. When we went through to our table no wine list and I was on the verge of leaving for somewhere else by this time. However we stuck at it and the waitress who came to look after us was much better and the service from then was good. The steak (the Prime Rib special) was excellent, the ratatouille was delicious but a portion so small as to be laughable. Compare to previous visit it was a real disapointment
My Mum was in London to go the theatre and I wanted to treat her to a nice lunch and this was the perfect choice.
A lot of places near by can be touristy or make you feel rushed. We were able to enjoy our lunch, which was beautifully cooked - my Mum said it was the best steak she had ever had.
Great staff atmoshere and food. A fabulous night out.
Partners birthday before theatre visit
The food was bland and really disappointing.
I asked for a Bloody Mary to begin and specifically asked for it not to be spicy. I had to send it back twice and by the third time I just decided not to drink it..
I thought it was over priced in general for the standard of food.. service was ok but not great.
Very good service and food. The restaurant is very elegant but with normal prices.
The reception desk and bar area has a cold / distant greeting style, despite being relatively efficient. No particularly warm welcome or assistance here. Service in the dining room is similar, attentive enough but a distant, cold and vague style from all.
We arrived for a late reservation after the theater so just had main courses at our table. The steaks are flavorsome and super tender. The sides of mushrooms, fries and peppercorn sauce were delicious. Curiously, the side order of ratatouille was unavailable as they had sold out? - surely you simply make more? Demonstrates that not everything is freshly prepared and cooked as the website declares!
Terrible wine list, we are massive wine drinkers and I didn’t recognise any of the reds listed! Plus, as is normal in London, the prices per bottle were crazy for low end types.
Ambience is a bit dull, cool, loud and bland, not lavish at all, curious for a trendy restaurant. Price wise, it is expensive for what you get. £137 for 3 people only eating main plates, not including any wine... Wow!
We mark it 7/10.p
Good value, good food and great drinks. It's just a little loud. It's a large room, and when it's full there is no need to blast music. Otherwise it's a great option, especially in the theatre district.
Fab, funky restaurant. Great vibe and excellent, friendly staff. Will defos be back. .
Starters were ok my beef rib was dry my wife's steak was overcooked she asked for rare and it was medium also there was a lot of fat and sinew a approx. a quarter of the steak was inedible and when my wife commented on this to the waitress her reply was would my wife like it wrapped up to take home to salvage some of it later???
Poor quality food. Lacking in service and character
Very poor service, waited 40 minutes to order food. Sat near the service area and could see the staff chatting and unattentive. Very poor and would not go back. Staff were more Interested in talking and standing around in the service area than serving customers, there was an attitude from the staff throughout the visit.
Amazing food, lovely venue and great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and we will definitely be visiting again soon.
Had to send my baked spud back as it was delivered cold to the table. The next one that appeared was hard and microwaved. Inedible. We asked that one of the burgers be completely plain. It arrived covered in cheese and bacon. The shandy I ordered was made with real lemonade, not Sprite. Very disappointing. Veggie menu was pathetic.
Recommended by a friend as a pre-theatre dinner venue, we were not disappointed. Excellent value for money set menu options, coupled with some awesome cocktails resulted in a super filling vibrant yet relaxed 90 minute service. Cocktails are priced fairly highly (£12+ in most cases) but worth it for a special occasion. Would love to come back and try their Sunday Roast option. Definately recommended!
This restaurant is just ok. The streak was good but it comes in cold plates which means your food is cold half way through the meal. Potatoes were undercooked and I found it over priced for what it is.
Excellent food & buzzing atmosphere. Good for Saturday night out.
However side orders were very small portions.
Fantastic steak house. Had booked this as part of our weekend away to London and we weren't disappointed. I had the buttermilk chicken wings to start and my girlfriend had the beef croquettes, both of which were delicious. Being in Sophie's, I had to have a steak for main course and it was delicious and cooked perfectly to my taste and was lovely and tender. My girlfriend had the chicken sandwich and was also not disappointed. I couldn't resist the chocolate cake for dessert which finished the meal off nicely. The staff were also lovely and were very attentive without being obtrusive and despite the busy area of London, we never once felt rushed which was wonderful, having plenty of time between our courses. Can't wait to go back.
We came here for a team lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. The portions are huge, the service was great and it's a lovely space. I had the scallop to start which was delicious. The team enjoyed the crispy squid, the ceviche and the croquettes which they loved. For main, I had the seabream which was perfectly cooked and a side of broccoli. Everyone really enjoyed theirs, particularly the sirlion and the chicken. Highly recommend the sweet potato as well.
I rang and asked for a cake or something for my nephew as it was his birthday and the bought him a slice of chocolate cate with a candle and made him a virgin cocktail as he’s only 13 and he loved both. Staff came and sang happy birthday for him also. Good evening and the steak was a gorgeous taste. Enjoyed by all thank you.
