Pretty much perfection apart from the Street Smart addition....unethical....
Went here for boyfriend's bday on Friday night. Food, service and ambience were all spot on.
Great food and nice venue. Staff need to know the menu better but otherwise a lovely place to dine!
I love this restaurant. However I find it annoying and unethical for them to add £1 to my bill without asking me before. They did mention it when giving me the bill but left me the only option of asking it to be removed. Emotional/conscience blackmail. I think these restaurants need to ask the customer or put an option (like tipping) to add it if the customer wants to. Very naughty.
A worthy successor to the delicious Manor.
We had a relaxing Saturday afternoon lunch for 2 adults and an 8 month old baby. The staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating with our daughter.
For lunch we chose a few starters, followed by a couple of pasta dishes and a shared desert. I couldn’t really find fault with the food – extremely tasty.
The décor hasn’t changed massively from the Manor apart from the toilets.
It has the same layout and stone plates – I would have been disappointed if a major makeover had happened as it didn’t need it.
Looking forward to our next visit!
The atmosphere was nice, lots of natural light, and the staff welcome was warm. Food was tasty however the portions were small for the price, we left feeling less than full. Maybe the tasting menu is better value if you can spare the 42 pounds.
THIS IS A TERRIFIC RESTAURANT WITH GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE...I JUST REALLY ENJOYED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE. THANKS
Booked here as a result of a review by Giles Coren the The Times Magazine.
We were not disappointed. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable about the wine list and explaining the menu.
Delicious arancini. The linguine with mussels and bottarga was very good but the pappardelle with n’duja was excellent. Next time I’d go for the tasting menu to try more!
Excellent food and service, interesting intriguing and challenging (in a good way) food, service very relaxed but on point and sharp when needed. Wine list is well balanced both in choice and price esp in 30-45. Cocktails very good too (as you’d expect)
I really enjoyed my lunch Sorella. On a Friday lunchtime it lacked the buzz of more centrally located restaurants of its class, but I didn't mind because I was there for the food and it did not disappoint, in taste and presentation. The service hit the right note of being friendly yet professional. The wine list was nice too. And homemade vermouth? - kudos to Sorella! Now please come to north London so I don't have such an epic journey for the experience - although it really was worth the journey. Excellent value for money as well for the quality of food and service.
Great restaurant, wonderful Italian food, good value, deserves to do really well. One of the best restaurants in London.
A really great meal. Fantastic cocktails and wine. Excellent food, the truffle arancini are stunning! Really good, attentive service. All in all a great night out. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fabulous birthday meal at Sorrella. Food and service first class. We had the Chef’s menu which had a great variety (and a lot of food!). Staff super-friendly and helpful too. Loved it!
Excellent food and service, highly recommended. We will look forward to returning.
After much anticipation, we went to Sorella for a date night a few weeks ago. We've been to The Dairy and my partner in particular is a big fan of Counter Culture, so we were excited to try the new sister restaurant!
Our experience at Sorella was saved by the excellent service and the last couple of courses. We ordered the chefs menu and can honestly say the first 2/3 courses really were a let down - under seasoned, lacked flavour and very bland. The meal really picked up though at the pasta course (we had the cheese pasta) which was absolutely delicious. The finale of the fennel ice cream was a hidden gem - who knew fennel in ice cream could be so wonderful (well I didn't anyway)!
Sorella is almost great but a bit hit and miss, and because the first couple of courses were a let down, it just wasn't worth the price. There's room for improvement but I'd be tempted to give it another try in another couple of months time because when it's good it's amazing!
Sorella was lovely - we really enjoyed our experience. It was a tad bit expensive but definitely good for a special occasion dinner.
The team at Sorella looked after us so well, the food was delicious - we had the Chef's tasting menu and it provided a great selection and also value for money...... the roast chicken main course that we shared was delicious.
Buzzing vibrant atmosphere great service but let down by the food itself. Had the tasting menu which was quite tasteless and so meagre that we stopped off somewhere else for a bite.
I was really looking forward to the cuttlefish however when it arrived it was paper thin, tiny and bland. So disappointed!
As a fan of the Dairy and having experienced the food at Clapham Manor I was expecting more.
Thank goodness for Peter the waiter who saved the experience and gained the 3 stars!
I saw a review for Sorella a while ago in The Guardian and thought it looked like an interesting new addition to Clapham - it definitely is.
The food and wine are interesting and memorable. I'll be back, it looks the kind of place to engage visitors and peak their interest with well thought through quality food.
We love Italian food and this was exceptional: excellent food, really interesting menu and good wine. Service was attentive and very flexible. Will certainly go again.
After a certain review I was curious to try this local Italian. Very glad I made the effort - buzzy and very friendly staff topped off with very good food- we’ll definitely be back
Had the Chef's menu, which was a great mix of flavours and just the right amount for two people.
Beautiful lunch, superb food and staff who really looked after us - highly recommended.
Great food and service. Really nice ambience - it's perfect for a date or a couples night out. We had a range of antipasti and other dishes and it came in very affordable. We didn't try the chefs menu but that struck me as great value if in a larger group.
Another delicious meal at Sorella. Interesting, tasty plates to share or not... arancini are delicious as are the pastas. Great wine list by the glass or bottle
Went to Sorella for my husband's birthday. We both had the chef's menu which was a selection of dishes chosen by the chef and included amuse bouche, charcuterie to share, a pasta dish and a main course. All were absolutely dish. Dessert of chocolate gelato was fabulous. This restaurant is a real gem in Clapham.
The food at Sorella was everything I had hoped for. The portion sizes however were laughable quite frankly. We spent £50 per ahead and were so hungry when we left that we had to go to a nearby wine bar and eat a cheese board.
The restaurant really need to look at the portion sizes of their food. They are barely child sized meal's which sadly makes this restaurant a rip off.
A great menu and wonderful staff. Some really original cooking so couldn’t recommend it enough.
Great creative Italian food. The chefs menu was really good. We were very sad when The Manor closed, but this is a great replacement
Excelllent interesting food, lovely friendly helpful waiting staff, excellent wine. Good vegetarian options too
The staff were very attentive, the flavours were amazing and all with a great ambience.
Great food, really enjoyed it!
Great food and wine, service a bit too friendly for grumpy middle aged customers like us - but we’ll definitely be back!
Very noisy restaurant, good quality food but not particularly exciting and in the end quite expensive for overall experience.
For the quality of food and service, Sorella is a steal, I have dined here recently and again, it has not disappointed. No mussels linguine left so the chef proposed crab and it was simply a stunning dish, the cod main was cooked to perfection and I nearly fainted at the deliciousness of the Pump St chocolate dessert with surprisingly tasty fennel ice cream - great atmosphere and excellent service - do t miss an evening in Sorella.
We enjoyed every dish we tasted, particularly the gnocchi and tagliatelle. Had the monk fish for main and the panna cotta and chocolate mouse for dessert were delicious. Would recommend
Linguine with morels and summer truffles was outstanding as was the dexter beef. Attentive service.
An extremely unusual experience for me...I have never ever asked for the service charge to be removed from my bill...but that's what I did here! The main course took so long to arrive after the starters and the pasta (we almost decided to get up and go then!) and the waiter who we asked for wine advice from lacked confidence, insight, or authority (when we had a second bottle I asked him to send over the most knowledgeable wine expert...and then got good advice...just wish he'd done that first time). Frankly the food was fine...a couple of the dishes were very good (the gnocchi, for example)...but mostly nothing special. It may be a case that having read 2 rave reviews in The Times and Guardian our high hopes and expectations were unreasonable. But we went hoping for a memorable experience...and sadly it just wasn't. We won't be adding it to our list of places to go again.
Some excellent dishes on the chef’s menu, however I would have liked more veg with the secondi to balance the rich meat flavours. The waiting staff were nice enough but everything that was put on the table was mumbled and when I asked about the pasta primi special no detail was added to help me understand what it was. Also we asked for help with the wine list and were told the first one was popular - “everyone seems to like it” but no advice was given about what would go with our food or suit our preference. Overall I really enjoyed it but the service, although not bad, felt flat.
