Sosta is the best authentic Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. Incredible food, ambience, service and wine.
This little restaurant is AMAZING. I’m so glad I found it. I absolutely love Italian food and this is some of the best pasta that I’ve had anywhere, including Italy! Literally the best carbonara I’ve ever had, and the tiramisu is to DIE FOR. The tiramisu is light and creamy, not too rich and just the perfect amount of espresso, last fingers. I only intended to take one bite and save the rest and I couldn’t help myself, it was all gone. Thankfully I only live a few blocks away from this gem, I plan to go here every week and get to know the sweet Italian man (family?) that runs this place. So yummy and I’m so happy to support a small local business.
Such a great vibe. Great music playing, excellent service and amazing food!
Sosta and Co have been a part of my family tradition for almost 20 years. Whether it be family; clients, or friends the experience and quality of food are amazing. In spite of the adversarial conditions of covid, Luca and his staff provide some of the best food and service in the city. The lobster gnocchi is to die for....The wine pairings are exceptional and value driven as well. Culinary and service artistes.
Best Italian in the South Bay by far
Absolutely outstanding! From the food to the service to the ambiance - everything was fabulous. We will definitely be going back. If you're looking for authentic, delicious Italian - look no further!
Luca is great. Food simple but tasty. Place is lovely. Especially the back.
Uní pasta is my favorite. Squash Blossoms Is excellent.
The staff was nice but forgetful. The food was not that great, I ordered the black truffle pasta at MP and I expected something pretty magnificent but it was an extremely small portion, very oil and it barely tasted like truffle anything. Not that impressed this time, I ate here years ago and my experience was much better.
Food was good but the service and the attitude was not pleasant.
Luca, Simon and the entire team continue to provide beautiful food, wine, conversation and service despite the pandemic. They have adapted their restaurant to meet the safety and distancing demands, and in doing so, may have even made it a better experience with the outdoor space!
The food is fantastic, and we will be back, but we had a very difficult time getting seated. It was my husbands birthday, I had made a reservation a week prior indicating as such, we got there and were told we had to wait for out table. There were other tables available, but we were not allowed to sit at them because the computer had our name on one table only. We explained it was a birthday and we had a reservation which the waiter disputed and he finally proved to himself. Then, we said simply switch our name on to the other available table on the computer which they refused to do. It was so odd! So we waited until the only table we were allowed to sit at became available!
Always amazing and love the gnocchi!
Don’t go any further for an authentic Italian food experience.
There’s not even competition in the South Bay: Sosta feels like being in Italy.
Food is outstanding!!
Il’ll start by saying our meal was very good. I ordered the special fried zucchini flowers and my husband had the grilled octopus. Both were very good. I would have liked something to accompany the zucchini flowers - even just fresh lemon slices. We split the sea urchin pasta - it was soooo good! Highly recommend! Where our experience fell short was in the service. There was just one server to care for 6 outside tables. When we arrived, just 2 tables were occupied (one party of 4 and one table w/a single diner) and we made 3. For reasons unknown, it took a full 45 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. Our entree arrived about 30 minutes later. The other tables seemed to receive their orders within 10-15 minutes so we were stymied as to why ours took so long. The only saving grace to this experience was the food - it really was very good. We’ll give Sosta one more try...hopefully, the service will match the excellence of the meal.
Chef Luca did a great job and the gnocchi was incredible
Loved it! Food and service was wonderful.
One of the best dinning experiences you can have in the South Bay
Everything was delicious!! Pasta portions are sorta "small" but very tasty. Loved it!!
I was expecting a lot based on their $$$$ pricing. I thought over the food and service was good but didn’t really match pricing.
We loved it
Wow, what a treat! My fiancee and I tried Sosta Cucina for the first time this past weekend and we were blown away. The food is authentic and delicious and the staff is so friendly and attentive. The restaurant was dimly lit with real candles creating a romantic atmosphere. We had the polenta to start which melted in your mouth. Then the truffle pappardelle pasta as our Primi Piatti which was clearly homemade and had us drooling. Then we shared the Red Snapper as our entree. We enjoyed a beautiful and fairly priced bottle of Chianti with our meal. We felt as though we had been transported to Venice for the evening! The owner even came out to meet us and thanked us for coming. We've found our new favorite Italian restaurant in the South Bay!
Neighborhood gem. Outstanding service and food. Nice ambience inside from unimpressive outside. Nice evening with my son. Wish they had a full bar.
Excellent and charming, as always in our many visits to Sosta! Grilled Argentinian prawn appetizer special was delicious and paired well with off list wine. Highly recommended.
Food was very good. Too noisy for good dialogue with friends
I would NEVER recommend Sosta to a friend. The service was poor, the food was average and the price was outrageous. They consider themselves wine experts and out waiter didn't know a thing about their wine list. We left confused as to what we just paid for. For those prices.. they should have blown our minds. I'd go to any other Italian restaurant in the area first.
Great cuisine. Nice ambiance. Tables are a bit too small. Some seating are folding chairs?
I had such high hopes for this dinner and it completely fell flat. Service was extremely slow. Each portion was way overpriced and with very small portions and poor plating. I warned them that I was worried about my streak for the meat portion being over cooked and that I’d rather it be way under cooked than over cooked. Guess what, came out over cooked and I didn’t have the patience to ask for another.
Also we sat on plastic folding chairs crammed into a small space.
At the end we ended up with a free dessert for our experience, great. I still paid over $300 for sub par service, food, portions, and overall experience.
We were not the only ones having issues. We were crammed close enough to other tables we could hear others complaining as well. Table to the right almost left between courses and on the other side they left before their appetizer even came out.
Valentine dinner was spectacular
This was a Valentine's Day reservation and so the restaurant was probably set up differently to accommodate couples that were out for the special night. There was a special menu as well. Tables were set up for 2 right on top of one another so no one could pass easily between tables. We were asked to be seated at a table right at the entrance to the room and we asked for another table. ( the restaurant at that time was virtually empty. )There were nice booth like tables against the walls which were empty the entire time we were there. Yet we were told that there were no changes and we could not sit anywhere but at the entrance to the room. When we threatened to leave, the waiter acquiesced and sat us at a better table (but not at the nice side of the room) while the manager of the evening kept insisting that there should be no changes. The food tasted great but $33 for a very small primi of pasta was a bit much. Not really worth the price for the very skimpy portion size. It is a small restaurant and if you want to feel like you have room to sit, don't come here OR specifically ask to be seated at the booth-like seats against the wall if you must come.
Excellent meal! Some of the best Italian we’ve had in LA. High quality ingredients and great well priced Italian wine. We will be back!
Laughably small portion sizes. We were a party of 4 that spent over 300 for dinner only to leave and go ... eat dinner.
Nice ambiance. Food very tasty but very over priced. Service just ok.
One of the best Italian restaurants the country. Wonderful wine list, great atmosphere. Luca is the best.
It was quiet when we ate but it was very early 5:15 and it was before the dinner rush. So, we were not able to know what the noise level is when the place is full. Our experience has been wonderful there. The food is very tasty and Luca runs a personable place. It is welcoming.
The food was incredible and the wine list was amazing. the ambiance was so romantic. It was a perfect date night for my husband and I.
Fantastic food, great ambiance. The pastas are to die for. The Branzino was excellent.
Wonderful to find a true Italian. Hoping for more vegan options next time but still a good meal!
