Sotto Sotto Ristorante - Toronto
Fabulous experience and wonderful food.
Terrible. Don’t understand it’s popularity. Mediocre food, and mediocre service
I will never eat there again.
The first thing that was bad was that they were understaffed. One capable waiter. Very long waits to get food so I assume the kitchen was understaffed too. This was a holiday- Family Day- so maybe regular staff had the day off.
The two salads served to us were largely left uneaten. They were mainly red cabbage and quite unappetising. I told the person who cleared the dishes that the salad was awful and did not get any considerate response.
My veal was bland. The accompanying spinach was overcooked.
We asked for ordinary water and was charged for bottled water.
The cost of the meals was high. The quality was mediocre.
It was my first time coming here with my boyfriend and I we came to celebrate my birthday and we will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere is wonderful and romantic and the food is astonishing so delicious and filled with flavour throughout the whole menu
Amazing food and service would def go again, ambience could use a little help by being lively
Always an excellent experience, both in terms of service and food!
Phenomenal food, service, ambience.
Something special like a candle to recognize our anniversary would have been nice. Told the hostess upon entering as well as made a note of it in our reservation that it was our anniversary.
Always an authentic Italian meal with first class service. We especially appreciate the polenta on the menu as most restaurants service polenta fries
The food was delicious, the Amatriciana and cannoli 5 stars! Wait staff friendly.
Fun relaxing great service!!! Alesandro was our waiter!! Very good!! Loves his job.
Awesome feeling; just like home. My girl wasn't feeling so well but the staff was very helpful and courteous.
Excellent food and efficient service. Wonderful atmosphere
As per usual the food and service and ambience were perfect.
Food was great! Server wasn’t the best tho as he would vanish for long periods of time and seemed uninterested. Nonetheless it’s a great spot !
I’ve been wanting to eat here for the longest time and so happy I chose it for my 30th birthday. Even after all the buildup in my head for that long, it surpassed expectations!
Delicious food, recommend the octopus, bufalo cheese, scallops, penne, veal and Nutella crep with ice cream. excellent service, nice drinks, authentic Italian beer, good prices. Will definitely go back.
Staff are super friendly and very pleasant but food was terrible. Pasta chewy and hard and steak that was meant to be medium came way well done. Service was slow and there was a 30 min gap between apps and mains. Disappointing as we have always enjoyed our meals here. Maybe it was an off night. Not sure if ill be back though.
Great atmosphere and welcome from all the staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming, not what you would expect from yorkville - thank you for the human experience ;)
Always a great meal!! Will be back over and over again.
The seafood risotto was amazing!
Food was always great. Friendly service and lots of energy at this place. Going back in a week for lunch!
Great food and ambiance. The risotto was worth the 40 minutes wait.
Recommended by friends to us. We loved each course. We split an appetizer, then split a pasta dish, and split a seafood dish, and then split dessert. All were wonderful.
Disappointing. There are much better places to have traditional Italian in Toronto. This place simply exists due to its past reputation.
My (now) fiancé and I come here every year, and our expectations are always exceeded! We love it here.
We were very disappointed with our dinner. The food was mediocre. The grilled octopus appetizer was tasty, but very tough. My fish sea bream was fair. We ordered spinach and grilled mushrooms that were overly salted. The vegetables portions were teeny. One of us ordered the veal saltimbocca. I was not great. The side angel hair was quite good, so maybe we should have just ordered pastas. We ended with passion fruit sorbet, which tasted more like lemon. The service was good and the setting lovely.
Maybe a slight bit more of your appetizers serving I always have the carpaccio and when you have the burrata.
The restaurant was very nice, service was also great. However, for 2 different pastas that were $25+ each, I was very unimpressed. The flavour was nothing spectacular, a very simple tomato sauce that was quite on the watery side. The portions were also very small for such a large price tag. I didn't hate it, but I would not come back merely because of the price and value you get for the food.
Waiter was very off and judgmental about anything we did. Other than that food and vibe was amazing. Hesitant to go back just cause the last two times have been with the same waiter.
Awful customer service at this restaurant. Was very disappointed by it
Always a great meal and good ambience at my favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto.
It’s been years since I have had the pleasure of dining at Sotto Sotto and all I can say is that they have once again exceeded my expectations for high quality food and attentive service.
Sorry, but I eat at various Italian restaurants. I can compare. Unfortunately, without going into details, the food was simple - tasteless.
It was our anniversary and I made it clear to the staff and also noted on my reservation. My fiancé was disappointed that there was no mention or a special desert for the occasion. I took the blame for the whole evening but it was Sotto Sotto that dropped the ball in a big way. Every other restaurant we have celebrated has gone over and beyond for these occasions. I was very upset.
Food was delicious but portions were extremely small. Waiter was decent but was at our table every two minutes asking if everything was ok. Not to mention his hovering as I was entering tip amount into card reader.
The Restsurant is too gloomy
It should be brighter
Viktor, our server, was very aggressive. He set the tone for the meal right off the bat and put a sour taste in everyone's mouth. He was pushy with the apps and wine, was not particularly attentive and I could tell he turned off after I had to match his aggression and insist that we did not want the 4 orders of appetizers he was suggesting when we were ordering pasta, mains and sides as well. When you spend this amount of money on a meal, you would expect exceptional service and frankly, the meal was sullied by his pushy demeanor upfront and the way he disengaged afterward.
