Great early brunch; food and service good; nothing particularly special about ambience; but good value!
I love SOB, great food, fun atmosphere and excellent service.
Always a fav for brunch and the beautiful Memphis weather allowed us to enjoy it even more by dining on the patio! The cinnamon rolls were crazy amazing (as always)! Tator Tot Casserole and the Chicken Biscuit were phenomenal. Always look forward to dining at SOB and can’t wait for our next visit.
It was good
Food was absolutely delicious! Waiter was great! We ordered the salad with the homemade Catalina dressing, Brussel sprouts, hand cut fries, SOB burger, and Gouda Mac and cheese. We will definitely be back.
We stopped for lunch in as we were driving through Memphis. Food was good, drinks were good - will definitely return if I'm in the area. Their parking lot was tiny (and full) so we found streetside parking about a block away.
We shared General Tso's cauliflower which was very good. The pad Thai as an entree - noodles were under cooked for my taste.
I had a special date with my youngest Grandaughter. She is 11 and asked to dine at SOB before going to see Alladin. We both had the steak and veggies. Perfection on both. Service was great too. Overall, it was a perfect evening!!!
I went to South of Beale for my 21st birthday for dinner and a before the partying happened. I'm glad I did a reservation because the place was PACKED! The server was so outstanding & awesome! The drinks were a little pricey, but totally worth it. I ordered Lucid Dreams & it was sooo delicious. This was my first time here & it definitely will not be my last.
We have gotten the Zaka bowl in the past and It was excellent.,They have changed the recipe and did not like it at all.
The cauliflower is a must if you visit as the other reviews also stated. The service was great also. The rest of the food we had was either ordinary or lacking. The drinks were signature drinks were overpriced in my opinion.
The cauliflower was amazing. The have several gluten free and vegan options.
It was fine. Nothing more, nothing less. Two choices of vodka? C’mon.
It was Valentine’s Day and our wedding anniversary. The food was delicious, and service was excellent! Loved the popcorn and our meals were steak and Mac and cheese, roasted Veggies, and grilled salmon-all cooked perfectly.
I wanted steak but they were out of steak and it was 7:00 pm. They were out of a few items I wanted to try. I will not return to this restaurant.
The food, drinks and our server were excellent! The atmosphere is nothing special but everything else was so good that it wouldn't keep me from gong back.
We went to SOB before attending a play at the Orpheum. with our tickets we received 10% off our bill. It was almost empty when we arrived at 5:30 but almost full by 6:30. Both of us had the salmon & a side salad and split a Jack & Coke bread pudding. All the food was very good & service was excellent.
Service was amazing and food was great! Good prices too!
Outstanding food and even better service. Terrence made our night! I’m in town from Kansas City visiting my best friend and this was a fantastic place for dinner tonight!
Foods on the menu are mainly Asian based items. All are priced at a fair level.
The beer I ordered had no foam on the top, and that was the only turn off .
cool place cauliflower and mushrooms are great. Old fashions were excellent.
Three words.. general tsos cauliflower. Do it.
SOB never fails for great food and great service! Always a wonderful experience and a great value for your money.
The burger was great and the fries too!
Steak was tough and grizzly.
Nice little bar/restaurant located "SOB" with plenty of street parking options. The General Tso Cauliflower is a must! A+ on the brussel sprouts and plum salad. The steak mac and cheese was a bit overcooked (asked for medium/pink), but since splitting everything we didn't fuss. Amy was our server and attentive. Great find thanks to @opentable 💖
The bartender was amazing. She answered any questions and made us feel right at home!
Our table was already set up when the first person arrived even a little early, so we were able to make all our special orders (those New Years resolutions!) and get to the nba game with plenty of time.
We always enjoy our experience at SOB. Great food, great drinks, great service, great ambiance, great location. Thanks once more for everything, and we'll be back again soon!
Poutine and Gouda Mac and cheese! Yum!
We had a truly wonderful experience at South of Beale. It's just a tiny bit further away than the other restaurants on the "main drag" but if anything, that just made this place feel like more of a hidden gem. I really wanted to highlight the service, as our waitress was friendly and super helpful as we were deciding on drinks and food. We actually ended up splitting a few shared items instead of getting any main dishes, and she didn't seem at all bothered by that. I don't often do repeat visits to restaurants but if I'm ever in Memphis again, I'm sure we'll be stopping by, at least for drinks and a tasty appetizer (we especially enjoyed the General Tso's cauliflower!). Thanks to everyone here for the enjoyable evening out!
Several tables were reserved; they filled gradually during our visit. Our server was pleasant but not very attentive - an offered refill of the complimentary popcorn never arrived. Our meals were tasty but brought to us lukewarm. Love the new offerings on the menu.
Great food - fresh, tasty, different. Try the cauliflower, you won’t believe how good it is. Friendly service. Would highly recommend.
The service was great. I had the Greek salad, which was delicious. My husband had the Zaka bowl and he loved it. We will definitely be back.
Good food, however the Poutine was overly salty. Overall, a good experience.
Love this place!
Our first visit to SOB and it won't be our last. We did the Sunday brunch before a play. Our server Callie was pleasant and timely. She did a great job. Our party of six had a variety of menu items and everyone was pleased with their choice. The tater tot casserole was the star with the breakfast burrito a close second.
This was our first time at South of Beale. We had dinner there with friends before heading to the Orpheum for a show. We loved the close proximity to the Orpheum, the food was surprisingly excellent, and they took very good care of us...great service! I highly recommend the salmon w/maple bacon brussels sprouts, and my husband had the steak w/mac & cheese which was also very good! They offer a really good German riesling that we all enjoyed. We also shared a serving of the Jack & Coke bread pudding and it was delicious! It's a pretty small place but charming & fun. Glad we could reserve a table on OpenTable so we made it to the show in plenty of time! Looking forward to going back again. :)
Food came out cold
Service pretty slow
