As the name of South Place Hotel’s ground floor restaurant might suggest, South Place Chop House takes inspiration from London’s traditional chop houses – marrying good food with engaging service and a great atmosphere. The venue has been given a makeover, with stacks of classic copper pans, artwork by Thorbjørn Andersen and a choice of intimate banquette seating as well as larger, communal tables.

At the weekend, this ground floor space becomes a social spot with bottomless brunches on Saturday & Sunday with free-flowing bubbles on option. Sunday also offers succulent Roast Specials.

The cooking is skilled and gutsy. A refinement of the conventional 18th Century Chop House style, it’s perfect for contemporary tastes and sensibilities, food you return to: tasty, satisfying and wholesome.

Private Dining

South Place Hotel boasts five private dining rooms on the first floor, which have been designed to facilitate daytime meetings, too. The rooms take their names from spies and secret agents in The Avengers, The New Avengers and The Men from U.N.C.L.E.

Service wasn’t great, forgot starters and had to remind them. Food selection is poor really. Wouldn’t return.

Nice ambience, would definitely go back. Had the set menu for dinner - sausage roll was ok, chicken in a creamy/red wine sauce was delicious, as was the truffle mashed potato.

The staff were lovely but the Super-food Salad was very disappointing. It consisted of a huge pile of quinoa with a couple of mint leaves and a few pomegranate seeds. When asked for some vinaigrette to liven it up, we were offered a bottle of malt vinegar and then a small pot of Balsamic glaze.

Went for a meal on Tuesday evening.
Great atmosphere and staff friendly, went for the set menu deal of two courses for £25, the food was nice but I do not think I would go with the set menu again.
The terrace bar on the 7th floor is great and I iamgine would be lovely when the weather is nice and the cover is taken off.
I would go back but maybe try the a la carte menu instead.

I was expecting an experience like I had at the Angler which is at the same venue and unfortunately came away disappointed. The lack of diversity of the menu was made worse when the one item I really wanted had run out. While our waiter was lovely, our order was messed up slightly, therefore, not the Sunday lunch experience I was expecting.

Service was slow and the waitress was rude, my boyfriend ordered a medium rare steak and it came out well done, I got a salad which was literally just a pile of lettuce- nothing at all extra. Wouldn’t go back

The stand out part of the lunch was the very attentive but unobtrusive service. Food was really well presented and tasty. Bottomless bubbles was just that! The only negative was the noise level. It was so loud that having a conversation was tricky

My experience was shocking.
The food was dreadful and presentation shocking.
The large party of guests on one table in the middle of the restaurant added to the bad experience.
I would never have thought this jotel/ restaurant would have allowed a table of around 20 people .
Being gluten free the option offered was not what I would class as acceptable.
The option given was still frozen in the middle.
I would not go again

Lovely place and service but burger was very dry, tough and tasteless. I would expect better from a place like this. This was the only (but major) fault with our visit.

Amazing food and friendly service. Brunch was great, the cocktails took a little bit longer to wait for as they came from the bar which was the only
Down side as didn’t have bottomless brunch.

Nice food, but the roast was a little cold. And the cauliflower cheese was slightly bland. Otherwise a nice Sunday lunch. And the roof was closed which was a shame as it was a nice day.

The Chop House is a good spot for a business lunch or dinner. The noise levels are not too elevated but equally the buzz allows conversation without feeling too overheard. The staff are attentive and the menu has a good selection for most diet biases. There is nothing particularly outstanding on the menu, which tends to the plain, but equally the plain food they have is done to a decent quality level. The Superfood salad needs a little more pizazz but the josper grill and grilled fish dishes are very solid as are the steaks. Not spectacular but certainly reliably safe.

Had a fantastic bottomless brunch at South Place Chop House with 4 friends for my birthday. The food was absolutely gorgeous - the best eggs benedict I'd ever had - and that steak... oh my!!!
The room did become quite loud towards the end of our brunch with lots of big tables on the bottomless prosecco - but probably to be expected! Would definitely go back again and would absolutely recommend!

My favorite city lunch or brunch. This visit was particularity good, exceptional service from Camille, extra gravy, extra horse raddish. My no meat eating friends had the roast with Cauliflower cheese instead of nut roast they were both very happy! I have the most tasty rare beef... yum

I’d recommend purely on the basis of the staff being super friendly and the drinks top ups were insane, somif you’re out to have fun and don’t care about food then this is the place for you. The amount you pay and the size of the dishes you receive don’t correlate, my friends and I were quite disappointed after reading rave reviews.

This is a great restaurant choice in the City with excellent food and service. I took a member of my team for lunch yesterday to celebrate her retirement and again we had a great experience. The staff are attentive and super friendly. I have found that the quality of the ingredients is excellent and the menu has a good selection of options without being overcomplicated. The Chop House for me is always a safe go-to option when I want to be guaranteed of service with a smile and great food. Thomas and his team always ensures that their guests are well looked after. I highly recommend a visit.

Great value at the bottomless brunch, waiting start are very Friendly, helpful and keep those flutes topped up!
Only downside was the bar experience, we arrived 20 mins early for our table so was shown through to the bar area. We placed orders for 3 martini and it took 20 minutes for them to be made and delivered to us. The bar wasn’t that busy, how long would you wait during a busy period

We Have recently been in the chop house for dinner. The all experience was amazing from the welcoming to end. The service was really attentive and all the staff it's been great with us. The food was also very good we took the large cut of porter house plus few starters and desserts. All of them was absolutely delicious as the cocktail that we had during the night. Highly recommended

Really nice place with a modern design, closely located to the Liverpool Street Station. Simple menu where everyone can find something suitable. The food itself was amazing! If you like fish, give cured sea bass a try! Also, you won’t regret their fillet steak. Our servers for that evening, Slavena and Camelia, made sure that the whole experience was excellent. Will definitely be back.
