Sparrow Ratings and Reviews
Really delicious food and lovely informal service. We went for brunch and I had the duck leg with lentils which was great, just the right amount of food. The marmalade mimosa was also delicious. The only thing I found with the menu that day was that there were a lot of dishes with eggs. I know it's brunch but some of us hate eggs (and there are vegans of course!), some of the sample menus have had more variety, so maybe it was just this one occasion. The food I had was delicious so haven't marked it down.
Quite simply unbelievable food that was beautifully cooked and the service was first class.
The waiter we had was very informative about the menu and recommended us some lovely dishes.
Highly recommend the Monkfish and Lamb. Will most definitely come back for another feast very soon.
Please don't come here, I don't want to make it harder to get a table. The food is exceptional, the wine is very good. The prices are reasonable - it's a Central London-standard restaurant, in South East London, and they price things accordingly. The service is friendly but professional. I couldn't be more delighted to be local to this place.
Had a fantastic brunch last Sunday for my boyfriend's birthday - the menu was well thought out with some innovative dishes (I had the egg appam which I would definitely order again!) My coffee took some time to arrive, however the restaurant did seem quite busy with drinks orders. On the other hand, the service was attentive. Can't wait to return to try the dinner menu!
Excellent experience from start to finish. Booked Saturday brunch as a special as my son was off back to uni. Came up trumps with my request for a good table by the window. Spoilt for food choices - all looked super. Settled on the kiwi burger - delicious & beautifully presented. Waiter was great & sparked up a conversation with my son about his uni. Apart from a wait for coffees at the end of our meal, all was superb. We'll be back :-)
I really loved the experience at sparrow. It’s a cute little restaurant that popped up in lewisham and was always packed. We finally got a weekend booking and it was well worth the wait. It’s a small plates restaurant - recommended you order 4 or 5 plates for two people. All the food was beautifully presented and tasted like a dream. And the service was fantastic. Friendly and welcoming staff. No complaints.
in the gastronomic desert of SE London Sparrow is so welcome.Brilliant food-imaginative,fresh and tasty.Influences from many parts of the world give Sparrow's cuisine a range of flavours that are a delight. The staff are informal, friendly and well informed.Long may it continue.
It's not often that you get excited by a whole menu but we just wanted to try everything. From the welcome to paying the bill all our needs were taken care of and the food was SO good! Special mention to the Scallop and Crab tortellini and the bourbon sour cocktail.
Beautiful food and servers tried hard. Manager was a little intense and no real flow to operation fr9m his point of view. Three staff view you from entrance and nobody really takes charge to greet and welcome. Menu on an a4 (considering price) serviettes on standard paper ones (considering price) food wait times were perfect and drinks menu was good and balanced. Servers were outstanding as was the kitchen and chef team. Manager seemed to argue with some members of his team and this did not go unnoticed by two or more tables. Don't try and put a "discretionary service" on already absorbed food prices.
Visited Sparrow for a birthday brunch, having previously been there for dinner. The brunch menu was not over long (a good thing) and it didn't take us long to decide what we wanted. The drinks (fresh apple juice and a smoothie) came quickly and tasted great. Our meals were both really tasty and filled us just right (we had an appam as well which tasted as good as those I had on South India)
Delightful local restaurant run by people who care about the food, ambience and service. Imaginative cocktails - they made a couple of off-menu, less common cocktails for the demanding lady on the next table. Very impressed! Food also delicious and varied. Highly recommended.
