Date Night was ruined by these jokers!
£32 for two starters and to watch my wife eat her linguine.
Asked for the bill, and the manager comes over and asks if we want to skip straight to dessert. It was incredulous.
Paid the bill and he asked if I wanted to take my meal home as a takeaway...30 minutes after my wife's meal had arrived and been eaten!
I'm sure my wife would have enjoyed watching me eat my takeaway at home.
I've been to great restaurants, good restaurants, bad restaurants and awful restaurants, Sparrow's is definitely in the last category!
The waiter was over-educated and the manager couldn't stop laughing.
It was like being mugged by one of the Chuckle brothers!
Excellent again - my 4th visit and food and atmosphere were again excellent. Really friendly as well !
We went here for our wedding anniversary. Some outstanding dishes, especially the duck leg, chick pea and squash salad and the chocolate mouse. I can’t wait to come here again. Panacotta slightly average. My husband had dessert envy.
Second time at this restaurant and just as good as the first. Great going as a group of 5 as we could try nearly everything on the menu. The staff are so nice and make it a great experience.
This is now our 3rd visit to Sparrow and we love it. Very exciting to have somewhere so good for brunch so close to home. Keep meaning to try the Saturday evening dinner menu as the cocktails look great!
Gorgeous food and great service, a bit of a gem for Lewisham
Great service been for brunch and dinner loved it both times
such a great place for date night. Really superb service and really tasty food.
A really friendly restaurant with exceptional food and quality cocktails. It is noisy and cramped but the food and the friendly staff make it special.
Attentive friendly service, modern relaxed interior and vibe and delicious food that you might not expect to find beside the now-disappeared infamous Lewisham station roundabout.
Whilst not exorbitant, it's not cheap either and the food is broken down into just what it says it is on the menu (a delicious pork chop was just that - a thick, juicy pork chop on a plate. nothing else)
A delightful local gem that is clearly loved by those in the know.
Sparrow is a great restaurant - friendly and informative service, food is delicious, perfect for a group of friends or date because of the fun of sharing food - if you want to. It's low key in atmosphere and who would think from the location that it would be as relaxing as it is. Love it.
This local restaurant would probably fit in better in central london given tbe quality of the food and service. Staff is really friendly and helpful. The concept is very intereating and almoat tapas like - all the dishes are small and made to be shared which is great as you can try lots! One very minor negative is that the wine selection is a bit limited but the cocktails are nice. Well worth a visit.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! We went for a slightly earlier dinner than we would have chosen due to their availability and their confirmation makes a point of how long we would have the table for. However we did not feel rushed at all, we had a leisurely meal that started with cocktails and then dish after dish kept appearing in front of us, accompanied by a bottle of Portuguese red wine. We were recommended 7-9 dishes for our table of 3 to share and the 8 we chose were divine. Whilst all meat eaters our favourite was the Jerusalem artichoke with radicchio and hazelnuts. Some of the dishes were larger and we ended up asking to take home our lamb leftovers which was very nicely obliged and even fashioned into the shape of a swan. We were very tempted by the dessert menu but were just too full to actually indulge - perhaps 8 was too many! Absolutely no regrets though - staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was lively but relaxing, drinks were interesting and tasty & food was creative and delicious. People should fly in from all over to this fantastic addition to Lewisham!
The best brunch in lewisham. On the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion.
This is our favourite spot in south London. They simply could not pack more flavour into the food; every dish is a taste sensation and the imagination and creativity that comes out of the kitchen (diners can see the team at work) is wonderful.
Front of house are charming, welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient and the buzzy atmosphere makes for a lively ambience.
Delicious innovative cocktails including non-alcoholic options also use seasonal ingredients (eg blood orange) are a must.
Cannot wait for our next visit. It will be soon.
Portions more generous than I expected for small plates.. full of hits and misses.....hits crispy chicken, and beetroot/lentil dish. deep fried kale...looked good, but too greasy. Custard tart. Very plain looking but gorgeously nutmegy....
Nice change for a local venue. We live in Bromley but easy to bus to eat. First time visit - small And very noisy but an enjoyable food experience. Have set sittngs times but we didnt het pressured to leave though I imagine that must happen due to popularity.
Look forward to another visit.
Sparrow is completely lovely, lucky Lewisham! The whole meal made me smile.
It's nice to see a restaurant with at least some ambition in Lewisham but it really isn't that good especially for the price. The portions are all small even the ones that are £16 and the starter size pork belly had 7 small cubes of pork - hard to share equally between 2. The website says that if there are 2 of you you can only have the table for 1.5 hours which I don't like and in fact the food was slow in coming so we couldn't have finished in that time anyway. They automatically pour tap water but then take the jug away so it's hard to get enough water. They seemed to be struggling although it wasn't full. I probably won't go again.
As always, perfection. We absolutely love Sparrow - the staff, food and drinks are fantastic. The space itself is cool, a very welcome addition to Lewisham, and cozy at the same time.
The changing menu never fails and there are too many favourites to mention. My latest obsession is the chocolate mousse that was on special, ahhhmazing, never knew mousse could be so good!!!
not great - we left feeling disappointed and severely out of pocket.
Food was amazing and interesting menu. Cocktail was splendid. Everything was well presented. We haven't had such good food and drink in a very long time. Service was also brilliant. We went in the evening and will go back now to try breakfast menu. A restaurant to recommend.
Great meal at Sparrow though not cheap cheap! Small but interesting menu with gray veggie mixes. Sea bass and beef heart very small portions but tasty none the less. Wine at reasonable price. Very buzzy friendly restaurant
I had been here for brunch before which was also fantastic! But really wanted to try the dinner menu.
It's amazing!!! We were a table of 6 and decided to just order the whole menu! So we could share a bit of everything! There wasn't one dish we didn't like.
It's a local gem in lewisham!
Very imaganitive cuisine especially given the number of vegetarian dishes. Pleasant relaxed atmosphere, friendly and well paced service. A very nice addition to Lewisham,
A wonderful gem in an unlikely setting. Original menu, fantastic food, great service. Well worth a visit.
Amazing food: creative built on a solid foundation and great ingredients (look out for the specials!) The cocktails are very good too; the list is quite limited but the aperitif is always spot on. The service is attentive and helpful, never overbearing.
It's a small place and it looks like it's getting a lot of attention of late... book in advance, especially for the Sunday brunch! :-)
Another great night at Sparrow - could eat the Beef Cheek Suet pie every night from November to March. Warm puy lentil and carrot dish was lovely - buttery, aromatic. Really friendly staff
As normal we had great food and great service. If anything the place was a little cold even though I was sat next to one of the radiators
I love this neighbourhood gem in Lewisham. The best bunch mimosas I've ever had - that marmalade flavour is delicious. I've enjoyed both brunch and dinner here, and the menu is always well thought out, unique flavour combinations, unusual wines and great value for money. It's always busy, with a great buzz, and the staff are lovely. We come here a few times a month, and it suits date night, or a catch up with friends. Really pleased we have something like this in our corner of SE London!
Fantastic! Great menu, food and knowledgeable staff.
Fantastic meal at Sparrow - the mocktails were up to their usual high standard, mains were really delicious and pudding was exceptional.
The best food in London, so unique and just divine. Absolutely brilliant service
It is a reasonable priced restaurant and the food was of a good standard.
Food was very tasty. Staff were friendly. Nice and relaxed vibe.
The portions were a little on the small size which didn't reflect the price.
Went for brunch, Food was tasty and well seasonned, drink was fresh, staff was friendly.
Will definitely come back
Always a great meal at Sparrow. Great attentive service without being in your face. Food is devine - roasted artichoke and bitter leaves was superb!
Really enjoyed it - interesting food and friendly staff
Amazing and innovative food with a man interesting menu of fusion modern tapas style dishes. The place is intimate and rustically basic and service friendly. Nice succinct wine list too though they serve wine in stemless glasses which is ok for some I guess. Order three dishes each at minimum if you are hungry. I’ve been here a couple of times and other tables seem disappointed and left wanting more when they order two dishes each. A gem in Lewisham!
Great food and good service. Only disappointment was that even though they knew it was a special birthday occasion, they made no reference to it, much less offered anything in celebration.
