About

This restaurant is permanently closed. At St. Luke's Kitchen, as you walk up and down the staircase to and from the Kitchen, Saint Luke (in stained glass) welcomes and bids you farewell. Saint Luke is patron saint of artists, bookbinders, brewers, butchers and stained glass makers.
Saint Luke’s offers high-end cuisine with a twist. Working with publishers and author chefs – Saint Luke’s has a rotating food menu based on cookbooks – with bookmarkers to denote starters, mains and desserts. Saint Luke’s Head Chef is Alessio Piras who works with and alongside guest chefs to launch each cookbook. Each food recipe is carefully curated and paired with a wine to match. All our menus use the best of the season’s produce and is locally sourced. We aim for it to be a combination of refined cooking and delicious flavours but also importantly for it to be healthy and balanced.

This quirky restaurant is, upon arrival, pretty unique with its book shelves, pictures, stained glass and wooden banister just to begin with. Full of promise as an interesting dining experience.
We 7 visited a few days before this Christmas for a festive lunch. Alas festive food there was not. Their larder was so sparsly stocked that most things that were listed on the menu was unavailable.
The starter took 75 mins to arrive and the mains another hour, with some of us served 20 mins before others. So by the time we all had our food it was tepid.
When it came to dessert we were offered .... cheesecake and cheese. That was it. In astonishment and with incredulous mirth (at the absurdity), we opted for the cheesecake. However, there were only three portions left, one of which looked as though it had been scraped off another plate. But it was pretty tasty.
A young and somewhat embarrassed waitress put a brave face on the whole fiasco. The waiters had to climb three flights of stairs just to serve us.
The whole experience was so farcical that we thought Michael McIntyre was going to spring into the room and reveal that we were all being ‘filmed, and sent up’.
Exceptionally unique experience - in its inability to offer what was on the menu. Shame, because The Library could offer a fabulously different experience if the head chef did his sums.

Dear Sue, Thank you for your feedback. I would like to sincerely apologize for your experience with us - food coming out at different times and items on the menu not being available does not live up to the standards we aim for with our service. I am glad to hear that you found the food tasty and liked the spaces. We are currently refurbishing our restaurant and menu, so I hope to welcome you back again and hopefully restore your faith in us. Best wishes, Maja Lange Head Receptionst LIBRARY

Lovely atmosphere in the main restaurant. The food was tasty although quite a few items weren’t available on the night, including all the puddings other than cheese, which was a bit odd. Also, the waitress ‘couldn’t find’ a wine list. But we had a fun night.

Dear Parky, Thank you very much for taking the time to review us. I am sorry to hear that you experienced items on the menu not being available, but glad to hear that the food you had was tasty. Despite the reduced menu and not being presented with a wine list, I am happy to hear that you had a fun night, and I hope to welcome you soon again. Best wishes, Maja Lange Head Receptionist Library

Apparently the kitchen was closed and they did not contact us to let us know. It was quite a trip to get there and then be treated rudely.

The starters, burrata with heritage and the wye asparagus couldn't come any fresher, the spring lamb was nicely done to my liking - pink-ish medium.

I found the steak onglet to be more intense and stronger this time around and on checking with Chef Adam, he explained that it was because last time when I had the dish, it was a veal steak rather than a beef steak. I preferred it with a slightly milder flavour in that case!

We went because it is opposite London Coliseum and we were going to see Chess.
Table booked for 6pm, but not ready when we got there. Had a drink at the bar, and they called us about 6 15pm.
I ordered a starter, which turned up about 6 40, and our mains just before 7, and the show started at 7 30pm.
All turned into a rush, we couldn’t have desert or coffee.
Food good when it came, but the place is no good for pre theatre.

My worst dining experience in London. We had booked a table for two (prior to Aida performance) as we wanted to celebrate joint birthdays and graduation. The restaurant was kind enough to call in the morning to confirm appointment and informed me that they had a function on in the restaurant, but assured me that they would cater for us on the mezzanine level. On arrival nothing was set up - we had a drink at the bar and 30 minutes later had to ask them again where our table was. Eventually a table was set up but then there were no menu's and no pre theatre menu (as had been requested). Service was slow and uncoordinated, food was half-heartedly presented (not the usual standard) and we had to cancel our dessert and coffee as it was taking so long - and then still charged for it. Overall what was to be an enjoyable celebratory evening turned out to be filled with frustration and disappointment.

Worst date ever!! The food was inedible and value for money was terrible. For 7:30 on a Friday for dinner you would think it would be busy and a nice atmosphere, quite the opposite I'm afraid, would not suggest this to a friend.

Restaurant was already quite lively with two groups of diners when we arrived. The food was deliciously put together with chef doing the equivalent of the vegetarian version of a dish where available for my friend Jane.

A funky setting, if only I had had an iMac on the table, I would have completely fitted in. Good service with a smile, lovely food and definitely recommend for all occasions.

we spent 140 pounds on our valentine set menu dinner and could not finish a single one of the courses. They were truly inedible. the pasta in a broth was terrible, the vegetable soufflé was cold. the pudding was so frozen, the biscuit was frozen, too frozen to chew.
one of the courses was a slice of bread with olive oil (it was ridiculous).
we came out and went to the mexican next toor to have a burrito.
this is by far my worse dining experience ever, and I spent my life in restaurants...never ever again!

awful! Service is horrible, food is horrible. Servers don't acknowledge you, barely look at you when you talk to them, no table setting, dirty napkins. Takes hours to get their attention. Looks nothing like the pictures! Absolutely different environment. Not what I signed up for. Just awful! I complained to the manager about the horrid experience he was really kind and apologetic. I wouldn't recommend

We booked last minute for Christmas lunch and had no expectations. The food was terrific honest hearty Christmas lunch and wine list was superb.
The staff were really so wonderfully happy and attentive without being in your space too much.
We loved it!
And to finish off a great day out bill arrived inside a novel ( from the library it is named after). These books are for sale in reception- a nice touch I thought.

I have been to almost 400 restaurants in London during the past 4 years, and this is among the worst of my dining list. Greeting was unwelcoming as we entered and checked our coats. Waiter did not acknowledge us for 15 minutes even though only 2 other tables were seated in the dining room (not crowded), and then while at the other table he mouthed to us from a distance that he would be with us soon. When he did come to our table, he abruptly asked us what we wanted to order. Unprofessional in our view - no discussion of the menu or pleasantries. We were in view of a rubbish bin outside via a door that kept opening to our left, and there was another door to our right where service people were running up and down with food trays - very distracting. We ordered 2 starters to share, and they were just OK - nothing special or memorable, but not horrible. There was a lot of noise from a party upstairs, and the focus seemed to be on the party vs. the diners in the restaurant. The service and atmosphere was so unpleasant that we decided to leave after one drink and our starters, cut our losses and go to another restaurant in the area. I can't remember when I have ever done that. Upon leaving, again an unfriendly good-bye when we collected our coats. The person at the desk was focused on his computer, and did not even ask how our dinner was or bid us a good evening. Would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. Service and atmosphere incredibly poor.
