St. Mawes Hotel
The bar restaurant at the St Mawes Hotel is a convivial escape to enjoy authentic quality dishes that will showcase the best locally sourced Cornish ingredients. Menu options include both smaller and larger dishes based on the wonderful produce from the sea, alongside stone baked pizzas and daily specials. Alfresco tables provide an idyllic location to make the most of sunny days and enjoy the spectacular views of the water.
Music from local singer songwriters features regularly on Saturday nights on the Lower Deck. The Courtyard Room and intimate 25-seater cinema provide an additional events space and enjoyable environment to relax and watch a movie.
We had the best seat in the house, facing out the window to the water, which was amazing. Food was good, although my wife was disappointed her pizza had no tomato. Service was very good if a little slow at times, but we were adjusting to a holiday pace ;)
Superb meal and great service but the view out over the water with a beautiful sunset really made it,
We enjoyed a beautiful lunch at The St Mawes Hotel, I thought it was very good value with excellent service, our lunch was lovely but my only criticism is that the music was very loud, I understand downstairs is a bit more of a pub vibe but upstairs the music was just too loud.
A great evening out in St Mawes. Excellent food and service.
Lovely sea views
Relaxed dining and bubbly ambiance
Great for family and friends with down to earth menu
Great, laid back atmosphere, friendly staff and great food at very reasonable prices. Great location with lovely views over the harbour. We would love to come back.
A member of staff rang us on the day of us visiting, not the day before to give us more option to cancel , as quizzes were taking place and we had booked for our anniversary and she wanted to tell us
Felt we were overlooked in the service department in favour of local people who knew staff
Salad had to be sent back as missing fennel and cucumber
Waitress said it was a new chef ????
Only two true deserts on the menu (excluding ice cream & cheese ), very disappointing.
Otherwise a very enjoyable evening.
We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and service at the St Mawes Hotel. Food was good, we had some sharing starters and then me and my wife both had the rib eye steaks.
Excellent including the unexpected fireworks display
I booked the table very last minute and explained in my booking that we were bringing my relative that is elderly and is hard of hearing. We know the hotel and we live in St. Mawes so are aware that dining downstairs doesn’t suit us. I requested a table with the best view upstairs and we were delighted that our request was noted and we were seated at a table that was perfect for our needs that night... thank you for listening 😊. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Generally a good experience. The staff were lovely and helpful. The ambiance is delightful.
One starter ‘crab crumpet’ was served with a warm crumpet and freezing cold crab - obviously straight from a cold fridge. The cheese was also cold - straight from the fridge and therefore lacking in flavour.
It’s a shame - a lovely venue which just needs to get the food right.
Hot food was still cold in the middle staff very nice and change it.
Lovely, attentive staff in a restaurant that is cosy and welcoming, but ........... tub chairs are not suitable dining chairs. The stainless steel topped tables have large sharp edged wooden pedestals in front of the chairs and it was difficult to sit comfortably.
Unimaginative menu - cubes of feta in a chargrilled wedge of cabbage plus more cabbage with the dish of vegetables is not a main dish. Choice of only three mains - the cabbage, chicken or fish on the bone which meant the meal got cold while the sole was being filleted.
Having a noisy family of 10 people and their crying young child in the room made our dining experience feel like we were in a McDonalds.
Second visit. Better than ever. Food excellent and good value for money.
St Mawes Hotel is a gem. Great food and a lovely 1st floor dining room.
We stayed in your sister hotel Idle Rocks which is an amazing hotel. The food there was too (for the want of a better phrase) high brow for my wife and I. Your hotel and it’s staff struck a perfect balance of quality food, beautifully presented and served by switched on, confident and engaging front of house team ( especially Elegant Emily!!) in a lovely environment. We spent 3 nights in St Mawes and ate with you twice. Thank you.
Great meal in relaxed surroundings, staff were great, reasonable priced wine - what's not to like!
A gorgeous venue for s Boxing Day lunch with fabulous views. Service impeccable; Anna was lovely. Great to find such a vibrant place
Enthusiastic staff and delicious food in a fantastic setting.
First visit to the restaurant at St Mawes Hotel. Enjoyed the food and the service. Nice, relaxing place, with views of the harbour.
Excellent staff with great rapport with each other and clientele.
On holiday in Cornwall last week ate there on the Tuesday enjoyed it so much had to return on the Thursday
Staying at the sister hotel Idle Rocks and decided to dine there. Pleasantly surprised with excellent service , good menu choice and lovely views across the bay. Very warm welcome and cosy environment.
Will definitely dine there more often on our next trip to St Mawes.
A very pleasant experience. We went once for lunch and booked again later in the week. The food was good and we enjoyed what we had but it was the general ambiance and service that made this a stick out positive and enjoyable experience.
Gorgeous view, lovely staff and delicious food. Will definitely return.
Superb service from all that served us with fantastic views and very good food. Crab and Lemon risotto was amazing. Looked after us very well on our wedding anniversary with our eldest son. Thank you
We had an absolutely lovely experience at the restaurant! Thank you for having us!
Food here was excellent and the view is great if you are on the terrace. The staff are incredibly friendly and accomodating. A great place for lunch or dinner or just a quick drink, though in busy periods i’d book ahead. One tip, whilst the terrace has a good view of St Mawes harbour/estuary, it is in the shade, so even in summer, you may want to bring a jumper once the sun goes down.
Lovely evening. Good food. Just wish we had been told about the specials board! The main menu was good but the specials were very tempting! We only found out about them when paying!!
We had dinner & lunch there , we will certainly be back one day.
Had a really enjoyable meal with my family. The waiting staff were excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. Food was good but it was the service that made the evening a great experience.
Very good indeed, stunning starter! . Very comfortable, friendly, capable staff
The food and decor was nice but the service was underwhelming. Waitresses were inattentive and our bill could have been significantly higher if they had bothered to ask if we would have liked to order a bottle of wine or more drinks. We have been before and enjoyed it, so putting this down to an off night.
We ate here 3 or 4 times during our week in St Mawes - the food was amazing each time. Sadly, on our last visit, we had to wait ages for our food - well over an hour. Not usually a problem but when you have a tired 9yr old and a drive back, it kind of took the edge off the evening. Hopefully just a blip! We'll definitely go back..
We had great food and with a perfect ambience setting.
Amazing table, menu and service. Lovely environment, child friendly and overall a wonderful meal. Thank you!
Great service - girl with piercings waiting on us. Very accommodating and friendly.
The monkfish was excellent and the view unbeatable.
Just needs attention to detail e.g. 2 glasses of champs in the same shaped glass, dessert wine served in brandy glasses?, not enough sauce served with the dish, chairs awkward to eat from. Little things but they make a difference.
