I have eaten here three times and this is the first time I was disappointed, not with the food or value but with the exceptional slow service. We were given an apology and a glass of wine each on the house, which was appreciated, but it did take a long long time to get each course
2 course set menu (£18) has enough choice to suit everyone, including vegetarians. Yummy desserts and champagne at £6 a glass makes it ideal lunch. Pleasant Parisian ambiance.
Service pleasant but could be sharpened up a bit. With deft service it could be perfect for speedy lunch in glam setting.
We were there for a friends 75th birthday and expected great things. They made no fuss of the birthday at all and it seemed they just did not have it together that day. We were left alone for far too long and then when we ordered wine, one bottle came and the other one did not until our main course, then there was all sorts of issues with the food, some was cold, things were missing and long periods of no service. They did apologise and offered some compensation which was appreciated but it was a shame, the food that did come and was hot was perfect. Not sure i would book again for anything more than a table for two.
Delicious food served in pleasant surroundings. Very good value for money offer with good choice from a fixed menu. However, waiting staff were very welcoming and friendly but there were too few. Insufficient staff meant slow service and one us received the wrong main course! This was a pity and spoiled an otherwise pleasant eating occasion.
Met work colleagues straight off Eurostar during the snow week for a excellent business meal.
Good sized tables, well spaced for private business conversations, and couple of private zoned off rooms with curtains where more discrete dining is needed.
Wait staff were attentive and accommodating of a late arrival.
Highly recommend the venison with a side of buttered kale and colleagues enjoyed the steaks.
Would definitely go again.
I always enjoy eating here. The tables are sensibly spaced and the music not too loud. I usually enjoy the set menus. However, they seem to be shaving costs a bit - the sparkilng wine is cheap and in tiny glasses and the menu is a ittle less attractive than usual. Let's hope its a temporary blip
Met the in laws off a train and went for a relaxed breakfast. A little wait for food but was ok as we were not in a hurry. Everyone enjoyed their food and such a lovely location.
Service from the door to table and during our meal was great, v attentive but not overwhelming. Staff looked like they were enjoying themselves which creates a nice energy in the restaurant. Good teamwork observed. Thank you will definitely come back.
Rally nice late night meal with very friendly and helpful staff
Despite an empty restaurant we were given a table by the door in the cold, when we asked to move to one of the many tables available further inside the restaurant we were refused due to reservations. None of these tables were opucied for the duration of our meal and the service was incredibly slow. Needless to say we didn't feel valued or enjoy the experience. Had the service been swifter and we been treated with a little compassion the experience would have been very different. Shame
Very attentive waiting staff. Beautiful soft lighting and delicious food. A quiet, relaxed atmosphere, out of the hustle and bustle of busy London streets. A hidden gem.
Helpful staff - good food in nice atmosphere before catching train home
Easy, reliable, no surprise. Perfect for business meetings
This is a great venue but it does feel sadly as though the service lets it down. Service is polite but so slow. Really irritating that you’re constantly trying to get someone’s attention and especially when they don’t leave the Wine at your table. Puts me off returning
Excellent as usual..Such a calm oasis amid the bustle of St Pancras station
4 professionals having early dinner. Not enough serving staff. Took 30 minutes to place a drinks order after being seated. Server told us all about a delicious fish course, saying it was the best thing on the menu, then at the end of his spiel told us we couldn’t have it as sold out. Half an hour wait between courses. Service got quite rude towards the end. Asked for the bill without waiting for dessert, but still left sitting for 10 minutes with dirty plates. Food was nice but I would not return.
We just needed somewhere to eat prior to catching the train back home, so we ate early. The service was slow, especially galling as the restaurant was not exactly busy. The food, when it arrived, was acceptable but unexciting. Getting the bill and waiting to pay was unacceptable.
Lovely decor, set menu is good value, food was tasty and well presented, but portions small
One of the party was on a dairy free diet, so spinach was specially prepared butter free. Good quality food in unhurried atmosphere
It was my sisters 50th birthday lunch and i let the restaurant know in advance. There was a mishap with our table and then they got it sorted and everything was lovely, service was a bit slow but it didn’t impact too much we just had to order the bill with pudding so that we had time. As requested they made a suitable fuss of my sister and gave her a free happy birthday plate with a few petit fours, which was appreciated. Food was lovely.
Team mates birthday celebration. I ordered Venison Loin..waiter advised that the portion was quite small so would need a side to go with it. I ordered the chips. The chips were some of the best I have had. I would have been happy with just those...but it was pricey. Venison dish was lovely too. There were no complaints about the food from any of us. Would be good if they did deals. Then we would probably go back once a month!
A great place to meet friends.
Ours had just arrived from Boston, USA and loved St Pancreas.
Visited Searcys just before catching train back home. The overall experience was outstanding! I was greeted by a very friendly Receptionist who sat us in a lovely quiet table and gave us menus. There was variety of meat, fish, vegetarian and sharing options. The staff was very attentive and chatty. Our waiter matched our meals (steaks) with fantastic wine (Chianti). Will definitely come back soon!
Large birthday party , good food friendly helpful service everyone had a great time
If you're looking for a place that ignores your custom, this restaurant is the place to be.
Overall the experience was super poor, however, the food was lovely.
Twice we got up to gain a waiters attention, one so we could have our order taken and the second so that we could pay. Altho, on second thoughts if we had walked out I doubt any attention would have been paid. So my advice is to try it, try walking out without paying.
It seems that Searcys wants to come across as a restaurant oozing in style, but that's about it. The service does not follow in the slightest.
Just because you have well dressed waiters doesn't mean it should end there, if the service doesn't match the decor, what's the point?
Good food? I make good food at home, it's not Just about food.
When you wait 20minutes after sitting down for a simple glass of water do what we didn't and find another restaurant.
Disappointing. Took a client here at lunchtime and it proved to be very noisy with extremely slow service and food that was okay rather than anything special.
Christmas dinner with our friends
Lovely location, good food but let down by very very slow service on both occasions I have visited which you don't expect given the higher price bracket.
Service was terrible (the waiter was just rude) and the Christmas food wasn’t that great either. For what we paid it wasn’t worth it.
The staff were friendly when they got to you, but the they were so slow and inattentive. Being in a train station, we had limited time and despite arriving with plenty of time (about an hour and 20 minutes), we didn’t get our mains until 15 mins before we had to leave. Disappointing.
Always a good place to eat in a fabulous location. Efficient, good quality food, nice wine list. The tables are mainly big enough to be able to not feel cramped and also not too close together. Wine a little pricey, plus the latest offer which includes fizz has the smallest fizz glass I've ever seen. So, check what fizz and how much before going for the offer - but we still did!
I took some friends visiting from abroad and had an excellent evening at Scercys. Service was personable and attentive, and food was cooked to a very high standard. I especially enjoyed my venison main and my friends appreciated their beef cheek stew. Felt really spoilt by the service. Will return.
Christmas menu was delicious. The group enjoyed every course. Definitely recommend.
Nice restaurant, good food and pleasant surroundings
Our guest was late, however the staff stepped up and made everything good even though it was us who messed them around
Only thing that lets it down is lack of storage for luggage. It’s a restaurant in a train station so would be usefully to enjoy good without worrying about bags
The set menu deal was great value and the food was amazing!
I had booked a table via open table for the above visit but when arriving the reataurant had no record of this on their system. This was made to make me feel I was not telling the truth. Not a friendly welcome at all but the experience did get better. Unsure whether I would return after the unfriendly welcome.
Service was good on our visit. ‘Value’ is hard to rate as it’s all much of a muchness at this level (medium-high). Good fin(er) dining option.
We chose this restaurant as a good option when we were returning from London by train.
The meal was excellent and we were very impressed with the service and ambience.
We will certainly return and would not hesitate to recommend.
