Overall a very nice place to eat although it was a bit noisy. My monkfish main was very good and the service was good. The wine list offers a good choice and we enjoyed the Macon Villages and the Rioja Reserva
This was anniversary so was looking for something special and found it here
Everything was fine from the moment we walked in
The restaurant has a modern airy feel, decorated like a ....Villa
Food is top notch
Service was superb with plenty of good advise and knowledge
Table was upstairs - spacious and receives the ambiance from downstairs well without being too noisy
All accompanied with a lovely wine
Unfortunately we have concluded that this just doesn't live up to its appearance. We've been several time to give it a try but no more. Portions are small and fussy, but full of sugar - I'm diabetic so I know when there's a lot of sugar. Wine is OK, but also pricey. Service OK but a bit wooden. Overall too expensive. Just doesn't compare for price, service or ambience with Cote, L'Italiana, Belvedere, Pasta Cibo. We wait to see where Ivy fits when it opens.
First time at St Villa and we had a great time. Got a table when we wanted and rhe decor is lovely
Normies rreeeeeeee, would’ve been a good night if my boyfriend could keep his dick in his pants
The team is friendly and attentive. They didn't make a fuss when I realised I'd ordered a dish topped with something I was allergic to, and quickly prepared another without the topping.
The duck ragu is outstanding and my wife said the seabass was one of the best she'd ever had.
My only criticism is the music. It's absolutely rubbish, cringe-inducing pop (lots of whiny Bruno Mars type stuff) and way too loud.
Lovely restaurant, beautiful food and great service! Will definitely return.
Really great restaurant. The food was amazing, we all love our dishes, service was friendly. Lovely restaurant we will definitely be back
Dined with a friend. The staff were excellent. Very friendly. Very professional. The food was exceptional and reasonably priced. We had the squid, prawns and sea bass. The cocktails were delicious. An issue arose in relation to my friends main and they dealt with it better than one would expect. She was very happy! I would recommend. So would she. We will return.
Lovely lunch, good menu, excellent service, friendly staff.
All dishes were enjoyed. We like the design of the restaurant. A modern restaurant that gives you more than roast options on a Sunday, lovely.
Great service and nice buzzy atmosphere. Lovely food and ace cocktails. We will be back!
Arrived early on a Saturday evening - were shown upstairs to almost empty room. Service quite good but pre dinner drinks quite slow to arrive. Room filled up quite quickly and it became noisy as there is very little to absorb the noise upstairs. Starters were very good. Main courses arrived on cold plates which meant that the very nicely cooked and presented food was only just hot enough. Cherry vine tomatoes were stone cold. We decided not to have desserts and left fairly early.
Overall experience was good rather than very good . Noise and cold plates let the visit down.
Lovely meal with friends for my birthday! Food was delicious and staff very attentive. Would highly recommend.
Knew nothing about the restaurant when I booked-. Very pleasantly surprised. The sea bass in particular was excellent and the staff were charming and attentive.
I went in hangry and tired and came out full, happy and revived!!
After waiting a while for my much needed glass of wine, the service picked up. I needed some warming comforting food- and boy did the gnocchi in blue cheese sauce deliver - it was truly a fabulous dish! My husband was also very happy with his food which tasty, well cooked and seasoned. I’d highly recommend the food here!
Wasn’t the cheapest meal we could have had, but you get what you pay for and didn’t mind paying a little extra for a family celebration. Food was amazing, staff were lovely and will definitely be back
Had a really good night here. Particularly enjoyed cocktails at the bar before dinner whilst being entertained by a live singer and musician. Food was very tasty and no rush to get rid of us when we'd finished our meal. Would recommend.
Hands down the best roast we have had in ages! We booked for 2.30 on a Sunday so I imagine we had missed the bulk of the lunch rush. Service was attentive and I had mentioned in my booking that we were there for a birthday meal and my partner had happy birthday sung to him and was given a complimentary brownie dessert which was a very unexpected treat and a lovely touch. Would highly recommend Sunday lunch, the burrata starter was incredible. We had 2 beef and 2 pork roasts cooked to perfection and were able to add a Yorkshire pudding to the pork :) I have already told family that I will treat them to Sunday lunch there. Not a cheap meal but value for money and on a par with the pricing of similar restaurants in St Albans.
The food was amazing and the staff really attentive. I had requested a table upstairs which wasn’t ready at our allotted time so we were offered one downstairs or we could wait. We decided to wait as the bar was great and was even given a free glass of fizz for the inconvenience! Definitely will be back.
Lovely food and friendly staff
Lovely decor and nicely presented, flavoursome food. Also the best negroni I have EVER had! Service was a bit slow. Would return.
Amazing restaurant, beautiful food and staff were extremely helpful and always nearby. Amazing wine and even made us cocktails that weren’t on the menu, would definitely recommend.
Me and my wife love St Villa and have been many times before. We decided to go again as a treat to ourselves for valentines. Food was lovely as always, however we felt it was under staffed and we felt like we were forgotten about as only being a small table. As well as our table was half an hour late which meant we had to wait later till we sat down. It’s not put us off coming again what so ever as usually it’s a great place. Maybe an off night. Was disappointed tho.
This restaurant also seems to operate as a bar & although we were shown to a table in the corner, by mid-meal we had drinkers standing a few feet away, which I would not expect at a restaurant at this price point. It was also noisy, with it being hard to make conversation with anyone but your neighbour. It may suit young people. The food was OK, although not particularly good value & our waitress, when asked if their pate was coarse or smooth, gave a totally incorrect answer. Wine was hugely marked up, leading to an expensive bill.
Excellent service and delicious food. We had the fish and chicken and both were outstanding.
Food was absolutely amazing, staff were so attentive and lovely. Came here for my boyfriends birthday and it really didn’t disappoint. They brought out a chocolate brownie with caramel ice cream, with a nice little candle, and deducted it from the bill!!
Couldn’t recommend enough - thank you for such a lovely evening! We will definitely be back!
We were a group of 4 mothers with 4 babies in buggies. Although we booked just before our visit, the restaurant were readily able to fit us all in. There were only 2 high chairs, but this was ok for our group. This was an indoor winter meal, but when whether permits, the terrace offers a great venue too.
Lovely dining experience on Saturday night. I'm expecting so not drinking and they were able to make a great selection of non- alcoholic cocktails. The food was delicious and well presented. Service was generally good and attentive.
Just a few minutes walk away from the main St Albans shopping areas, this restaurant is a hidden gem. Lovely contemporary and clean environment, excellent food and great service. I was in a group of 6 people and every dish was superbly presented and full of flavour. Will definitely be booking again.
St Villa has become a real favorite of ours. Presentation and detail of food is outstanding
Always great service and customer care.
Very friendly staff! We ordered from the set menu and the food was excellent.
Celebrated my birthday here. lovely resturant with nice modern interior. staff were friendly and professional. great food and good priced cocktails.
Absolutely amazing!! The restaurant look amazing, the staff are lovely and the food not only tastes amazing but it looks beautiful too. I will be returning and I will recommend!!!
Excellent restaurant for our pre-cinema meal. Whilst I had pre-booked, local traffic problems delayed my arrival. Staff were very attentive and efficient making this relatively short visit very enjoyable. Good quality food and wine at realistic prices. Well done to all!
A great restaurant to have dinner. The food and wine is always good and the staff are always very friendly and attentive. Probably why we keep coming back.
Overall very good. It was a pity that the drinks menu had not been reprinted stating that there was no cask ale or Guinness. The food was very nice but again it was a pity that there was no mint sauce to go with the lamb shank.
2nd visit and it didn’t let me down. Food was great and service attentive.
Lunch time birthday treat - Guest loved it
One of the best restaurants in St Albans for service, atmosphere and most importantly food
Food was exquisite. Service was incredible.
But I went there for my first New Year’s Eve with my partner. It was loud, it was hard to even have a conversation. The restaurant seemed like a nice place to have a memorable evening. But all I remember was shouting across to my partner. Overall the meal was amazing. Service was great as I’ve already Said.
