Stag & Thistle
Food amazing as always even more so now that they r continuing their eat out to help out into september.
Hubby’s birthday dinner. Just the two of us. Everything was just lovely. Menu did not disappoint. Staff are amazing and very attentive. All COVID rules were obeyed. Overall it was a nice relaxed evening. I will recommend to everyone. Oh, and my G&T was fabulous.
Staff lovely great for the dogs food fresh if a bit pricey. Altho the eat out discount made it reasonable.
for the circumstances they did their best and were good - tempura batter was disappointing and chips were salty but those were my only gripes and even then they are just minor things - the burger itself impressed me as did the amount of meat in the steak pie!
Once again - and as on every previous occasion - an excellent experience. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending to otgers, and have already done so to friends.
Food was nice, but over priced, menus were grubby as were the seats, toilets were appalling and badly needed painted, and holes in the wall. Food was very over priced compared to other places.
I had 3 small plates - salt & chili chicken, Spanish potatoes and garlic & chili prawns. All were good, prawns were tremendous! Would highly recommend
First time visit to the Stag & Thistle and would definitely go back.
The safety measures put in place were fine and felt safe in the venue. The food was very good.
Loads of outside space. It poured while we were there and not a drop touched us. Was first place I went after lockdown with son and partner, feeling apprehensive. LOVED it and is now always first choice.
If you are going for just drinks it is great. Food was not great and don’t get people who say it was good. Chicken sandwich very bland but fries good. Dessert was dreadful - microwaved waffle (Inedible), dry and bland toffee pudding, both drowned in sickly sweet syrup and blah ice cream. We complained but they didn’t bother taking off bill. Also, PLEASE STOP SERVING FOOD ON PLANKS AND SLATES. Especially planks that wobble, and runny dessert on a slate?!? Stop it.
Not very good service. Food not great. Nice people but really need to up their game and provide a better dining experience.
Great burger and amazing gin n tonics! Loved it will be back
Good service good food would definitely return for more food and drinks
Dissapointed by lack of ppe wearing staff, dirty menus, dirty toilets, overpriced and average burger.
A total shambles.
No wine list...
Waited ages for a menu. 45 mins.
Won’t be back.
Best grub in the southside
Excellent choice of food on the menu and it was all extremely yummy! Lovely place to go for dinner.
Great local place. Staff are all friendly and make you feel special. Well worth a visit at anytime of the day
Such a nice place great food and friendly staff will defo be back
We ordered from the tapas type menu and the food was incredible! Booking is essential to get a table as they can only accommodate so many people for food at one time. Can't wait to return
Great venue and atmosphere. Food was lovely and service was really good.
Service was a bit slow.
Great food great service great place to be I would recommend
Delicious food, great service & outdoor seating well set up for Glasgow downpours!
I had a burger, my wife fish and chips.
The burger was served on wooden board which I did not like.
How clean can the board be??
The fish was glazed with thick, greasy batter. The batter was scraped off and not eaten. The plate was left with a layer of grease.
The thin cut chips were cold and hard.
Overall, not great.
Another good visit. Food service a bit slow. Standard of food very nice, can recommend any of the prawn dishes. Burgers also very good. Would recommend
Food was nice and varied options.
No kids menu so kids had to choose from same menu although they did offer smaller portions and to make less spicy etc...
The food and drinks that we had for lunch were pretty good.
However none of the staff were wearing a mask and although there were signs about social distancing some of the chairs at different tables were really close together so I'm not sure if I would go back again!
Food took extremely long...I am talking over an hour and 20 mins for the mains to arrive.
food took ages to arrive but it was excellent, so I'd go again
Waitress was helpful and pleasant. Our starters took a little while to arrive. No big deal. However, it then took a further half hour for our main course to arrive with no explanation as to why it took so long. Starters were nice, but the main courses were very bland and unimpressive. For £14 a pop, not good value. I've always like Stag and Thistle but wont be back for a while after Monday's disappointing meal :(
Great food and drinks, drinks took a little while to come out even though we got asked by all the different servers if we had ordered while we were waiting so lots of staff presence just a little bit of a wait.. But that's being picky :) everything great apart from that and a nice seat outside in the sun, things almost felt normal for a couple hours! Thanks x
A lovely lunch had by 4 of us. Food although a tad expensive, was delicious, plentiful and served taking account of social distancing. A lovely atmosphere and the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
Really enjoyed our afternoon. If I have to cosider any areas for improvement, I would suggest that further reassurance would be given to customers if staff wore masks during this time.
Lovely food, fantastic service! If I was being really picky then think 2 meatballs for £7 is a bit stingy....up it to 3 at least? Same with the halloumi, up the 3 stick portion to 4. They are sharing plates so please give enough to share.
All delicious though! 👍
The staff were very courteous & tried their best but it was obvious they were under pressure. Our booking was for 7pm. We got our starters just after 9pm!!!
Enjoyed the fish & chips. The food was really tasty and well cooked. Staff very friendly and great value, with the govt discount. Will definitely be back.
We had a late breakfast on a Monday, so we got the 50% reduction. Even if it had been at full price, the value would have been excellent. The meal was very good indeed - one of the best breakfasts I have eaten, and the Cumberland sausage option was a brilliant idea. I shall definitely be back, and not just for breakfast either. Highly recommended.
Service very poor - drinks order mixed up, missing glass and a wait if an hour for food. When it cane the food was tasteless and uninteresting
Well set up and organised with precautions in place due to covid.(Have been to other outside spaces lately and they are not a patch on the Stag and thistle set up) Staff where very attentive and service for food and drinks was swift. Great day/night was had. Keep up the good work to all involved.
I'd dined here previously and enjoyed the food. This time I came back with my partner and we were put on a bar stool table when we asked if we could be moved outside and were told the tables would flip soon and we could be moved then. That was no issue, but we were then left to our own devices for 10 minutes before someone offered us a drink. Once we finished our pints, we were still waiting for menu's (we booked a table for dinner), or the offered another drink. It seemed as though the servers we purposefully avoiding eye contact in order to not come over; I'm an older server - i know this trick inside and out.
Had tables not been available outside or they were unable to move us, there would have been no issue, but there was no communication of what was happening at all. So that, plus not even being given a menu to browse and sitting with dry pint glasses for another 10 minutes, we left and went to Gnom (just a few steps down the road- 10/10 would recommend.)
