Sunday lunch is probably not the best time to visit this restaurant. The portions are quite large and therefore commensurate with the price charged but, is this necessary? The ambiance is good and the food also but, they needed more staff as the restaurant was full.
We ate here as a party of ten. Both the food and service were exemplary. Giampiero does a fantastic job front of house and the kitchen cooks up a storm!
With such level of prices, I would have expected at least to be able to speak with the person at my table, but the noise was so high that it was really impossible. The food was very good indeed, but definitively overpriced.
Our experience at Stecca was great. The service and level of attentiveness was exceptional, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by the staff. The food was elegantly presented and very tasty.
A very nice restaurant in one of most beautiful place in London.
Staff is professional and friendly. The food is excellent. You can’t miss it!
A perfect dinner on our first full day in London. About a 5-minute walk from our flat. First class food, friendly/professional service, and did I say excellent food! This is a must if your in Chelsea!
Excellent food but no attention paid to what we've ordered , wrong dish, wrong water, wrong wine served in our glasses and mixed with another one.
And pushed to order sides and it wasn't necessary as we already had vegetable and potatoes with our meat.
we shared the bill with our friends and they add £1.50 to each of us without notice. We realised after we left that we had paid £3 more!
shame as the food is delicious .so I would recommend it but watch!
We went to Stecca for dinner for the first time on Friday night with my sister who was visiting from Singapore.
The setting is pleasant with comfortable seating and a nice views over the gardens behind.
It took awhile for the wait staff to return to our table to take our order and we quickly noticed that though the restaurant was just over half full it seemed a little chaotic on the restaurant floor.
We finally ordered our drinks and some pastas and salad. The drinks arrived after a short wait with a nice bottle of Prosecco being placed next to our table which the girls gladly enjoyed.
Our food followed with the three pastas arriving one which was cold. This was promptly taken away by the chef and remade.
The pastas were all tasty and well made. The Burrata salad was amazing!
What was missing unfortunately was the true dining experience. It appeared that some of the wait staff were fairly in-experienced and didn’t know what they were doing. This meant that the experienced staff had to do most of the work as well as spending time telling them what to do. It also appeared that the chef was spending as much time on the restaurant floor as in the kitchen. This seemed to create more confusion and for us made the experience rather stressful instead of the relaxing evening out it was meant to be.
There were many good things about Stecca but to compete with the best Italian restaurants in London it needs to offer a better dining experience.
Good food in pleasant surroundings. The chef sat at the next table drinking & talking loudly for an hour making it difficult to hear. One of us went to the toilet & witnessed the head waiter humiliating the junior member of staff in an abusive way. Will not go again & endorse such unacceptable behaviour by management.
Great food!! the veal chop was as always fantastic
Under staffed - obnoxious host more interested in serving the girls on the table next to us. Over serving, bringing food first not even a thank you for our custom (and service we paid for nothing).
Many ingredients ran out - for the price point plenty of better places down the road and in the area. Hope it was worth a bad review for the girls he was pouring free drinks too.
Lovely little restaurant - service was personable and attentive. Due to the warm weather and early evening sitting, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the breeze but did not suffer at all in terms of service
Local restaurant very private. Amazing food with ingredients of high quality. Just a bit short in staff when we went but very kind.
Probably the best steak tartare ever, and an amazing monkfish on a bed of broccoli. Fabulous food as always.
In spite of our reservation, when we arrived in time the table was not yet prepared. Time after ordering we have been told one dish was no longer in the menu. Too slow, unattentive and poor quality service. Prices too high if compared with choice and overall quality.
Stay away, although food has some taste presentation is not in sight
Instead of costing food they simply aim to make money by serving minuscule portions.
Staff tried but pushed to limits so they cannot even remember what you have ordered
Get your own water pour your own wine
Little or no idea what they are about
L'offerta del 50% di sconto è una truffa. Per il resto cibo buono e servizio ottimo.
Our two mains came 15 minutes apart and the rice in the risotto was hard. Disappointing
Overpriced food and their service needs great improvement. We had a reservation for 2 and they insisted we get the table close to the entrance, which I insisted I did not want and was happy to wait for another table to become free. They insist we sit and they’ll give us another table as soon as it comes free. After about 5-10 min. another party of 2 walks in without a reservation but they seemed to know the waiter and manager and like magic they had another table for 2 in the back which they did not offer us. They never offered another table and we had to eat close to the entrance where it would get super cold every time someone opened the door to leave or enter the place. The food is average, I am italian and can cook better than what we had there and I am not a chef. Will not recommend to friends and not come back anytime soon.
A great chef led dining experience
By some distance the best Italian in Chelsea
Worth the investment
Got a reservation for 7 at very short notice. Very welcoming and attentive. They were extremely busy which delayed some courses, but they kept us up to date. Food was excellent and steaks were cooked as requested. My foreign colleagues were delighted with the restaurant and its location. Definitely will be going again
Stecca is an excellent Italian restaurant; one of my favourites in London for sure. Service is very friendly, attentive and efficient. Portions are generous and dishes are very well prepared. Highly recommend the escalope Milanese as well as the grilled sole. The high Quality of ingredients really is noticeable and so enjoyable. All in all a really nice experience. The only small let down is the atmosphere. I can’t put my finger on it, but it slightly lacks in warmth
Fantastic restaurant with top level quality of food
We spent 87£ each with 1 glass of wine each starters and main (one was a simple pasta dish). Good food but doesn’t justify the price i think. Service was good though a number of items missing from menu.
Always great food!
Pleasant and efficient service .. very good food
Outstanding. Delicious. Incredible service. Can I say any more ?
This was the first time I have eaten at Stecca and it was thoroughly enjoyable! The food, wine and service were all excellent and extremely friendly. I Started with three courses and enjoyed so much I went back to the menu and tried another dish in the end. Great value for money and a super local place. I will be returning very soon hopefully so I can try the rest of the menu! Highly recommended. 5 Stars Mr Stecca!!
We had an outstanding dinner in Stecca.
The food is exceptional, all dishes well balanced and the specials with white truffle are to die for.
Service should be improved a little more.
Would highly recommend this restaurant and will come back
One of my favourite restaurants in Chelsea. Food absolutely fabulous, great service, wonderful atmosphere, dog friendly!!! Love you guys ❤️
Stecca is my favourite restaurant. Intimate and delicious!
On arrival I said we had a reservation but the waiter did not seem interested and just showed us to a table with little attempt at a welcome. We ordered drinks, one of which was a Diet Coke. The waiter said they only had Coke Zero. After a long wait, he returned and said they had run out. No serious offer of an alternative. How can they run out of something like that? Anyway, there was a shop very close that was open where they could have bought some for me had they been interested.
Service throughout was just about acceptable but showed little enthusiasm. There did not appear to be anyone in charge.
I had eaten at Mr Stecca's previous restaurant, Toto's, several times and had always been impressed by the quality of the Italian cooking. Here, the menu is very similar but the zing of Toto's is missing. Two pasta dishes were served lukewarm and rather lacking in flavour. A Milanese was better and the Cannoli as a desert was genuinely excellent (though the waiter had to be reminded to offer us dessert).
There was nothing terrible about this meal but no one seemed to be trying. The kitchen and waiters appeared to be on automatic.
A neighbourhood restaurant only works if it can offer some genuine charm - this fails by a long way.
The restaurant was not busy, though there were a few Italians there which normally would be a good sign.
We attempted to say goodbye when we left but the staff only just noticed as were going through the door.
If everyone involved showed a little more enthusiasm and proper hospitality, this could be a very appealing restaurant. As it is I will not bother to return.
Very good food, friendly waiters and beautiful outside space.
Amazing as always!
I’m a bit of a snob re pasta quality....
But that was sublime.....!
Beautiful meal and those starters with that bread.......
Yes and Super Duper....
Waiters and kitchen had an off day....Didn’t exactly felt that I want to go back.
The service was a bit slow. The food is good but they should enrich the walls as they are completely white. We had a lovely warm table at the back. Bread is amazing!
Food is very tasty but service needs improvement. Bread arrived late. Main course arrived immediately after we finished our starters. After choosing a bottle of wine, waiter recommended an alternative; happy to accept recommendations but not at almost double the price! A cheeky effort. Fortunately we realised before we went along with the recommendation. And then the bill had a bottle of water added to it which we did not order.....
