Haus-made Bavarian sweet kraut

The experience overall was amazing. All the way from getting seated to the live music to dessert. I highly recommend this place!! Only downside to the experience, but certainly NOT a compliant, is the we were seated about 10 minutes past reservation time.. But I'm not mad about it..
Music, atmosphere, food, beer, all excellent. Service was friendly and helpful but food coming out to the table was very very very slow. Arrived and were seated promptly at 6:30 pm for reservation. Ordered drinks, a pretzel, and our meal. Meal was delivered to us about 8:05 pm. Told us there was a large group in the back that was slowing down the food coming out of the kitchen. Will try it again in the future but may just order beer, meat board, pretzel and dessert.
Great food, good atmosphere, and exceptional service. Hillary, our waitress, added to the experience. It was our first, but not last visit.
Food was excellent and we got right in with a reservation placed earlier in the day. Beers, poutine and accordion player combined for a unique dining experience!
Very busy Friday night. They seemed short of staff as almost all food establishments are now. The food took a looooong time to get to us. It was about 40 minutes from order to deliver. Food was good but last time (year ago) it was great. I will go back but on a less busy night.
Great food and service!!
Russ was our server, and he was great!
Delicious food, friendly service and fantastic live music. We enjoyed our evening at Steinhaus Keller and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great German food.
Good food. Service was decent, had a new waitress, she tried really hard. Everyone is friendly, and speaks when you come in, and thanks you when you leave.
Very good food. Service and atmosphere was excellent
Had great food and a good time. the noise made it hard to talk with friends part of the time. Mostly we loved it.
Great atmosphere, food just okay but overall fun place to eat!
I have eaten here many times over the past several years, except for last year due to Covid. Absent this occasion, every time has motivated me to have this restaurant as my last meal before going back home. Perhaps management has changed, but the overall staff was awful. From the sarcastic greeter that opened the door to the terrible busing and long wait, Especially given we were one of only two tables at the time. My family and I had much better food for a lot less money and far less wait. The restaurant is not what it used to be.
Love this place. Good food you can’t get anywhere else. Good beer too!
This is the second time we have enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. The food is excellent! My husband ordered the bratwurst and I ordered the cabbage rolls, they were above our expectations! The 10.5” pretzel and sauerkraut makes my mouth water just thinking about them!
Convenient to walk to from anywhere downtown.
We look forward to our next dinner here!
Fantastic. A staple in the community. If you could improve on flavorful, savory, German cuisine, this is it. Chef creates and serves the most innovative and satisfying marriage of innovation and traditional cuisine. The atmosphere was perfection. The service was exceptional. Highly recommend. I will be back!
The food is fabulous and truly authentic German fare. The selection of German beers is impressive too. Like most restaurants these days, they seemed a bit understaffed and the wait for our dessert took a bit longer than we expected. We asked them to box it “to go” and they graciously complied and apologized for the delay. We really do enjoy this restaurant and encourage others to try it. Just do be patient as the staff is lovely and work hard to ensure every guest has a great dining experience.
Jake was an amazing server! All of his beer and food recommendations were superb and he was super friendly and patient with our questions. The location was quiet and intimate without feeling crowded. Patio looked great it was just a bit too hot out when we visited. Would definitely come again
The sausage and cheese board is very good. All of our food was very good and the service was great. Very nice atmosphere. A little pricey.
All the reviews are true- good and bad. Beautiful dining room. Great beer list. Long wait even with a reservation. Side of mushrooms were cold. Schnitzel was ok. Waitress and kitchen were slow and overwhelmed.
Had issues with the kitchen bringing an appetizer to another table and wait for food was long (but they were down three wait staff) so overall fair and enjoyable considering the circumstances.
This is the ONLY place in Hot Springs that I would call an absolute NOT MISS. Never disappoints. From the stellar service to the food, you won't be disappointed. 4 of us shared the giant Bavarian pretzel and there was some left over. We had a variety of entrees and side dishes that we all enjoyed but the real show stopper is the apple strudel on a bed of custard. Incredible!
The hostess was rude . We asked for inside seating due to tremendous amount of flies where we were seated outside and folks smoking . In spite of tables available she refused to seat us ... very unprofessional for the service business!!
The menu had new stuff that wasn't available. We've been yearly customers since 2003 and this year the food was off, like they just went too crazy with spices and especially salt. The schnitzel meat was dry and kinda tasteless. The hefeweizen they just tapped was already empty.
It was a completely awesome experience. We were first timers but we will be back!
The food was delicious and so nice to have something out of the ordinary. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Our server wasn’t as knowledgeable about the beers as I would have expected but she was friendly and efficient. Great experience!
Had not been here in a long time and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! We both had the rouladen and it was simply excellent. Also had the red cabbage and German potato salad and they were delicious. Pair that with a Franzinkaner here and you have dining perfection. Great service as well. We will be back!
We shared the wurst and cheese board which was good. It would have been better if the pretzel was served hot. The imported beers on tap was very authentic. We sat next to the stage and had front row seats to accordion player which was a treat. She played two audience requests and we sang along. She was endearing! Could use a little paint here and there but over we would recommend to friends and return.
We absolutely love Steinhaus. Delicious food, yummy drinks and the atmosphere is great.
Absolutely phenomenal!!!! Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Great food, service & drinks! We will be back!!!
After seeing this place mentioned in a couple of travel blogs, I wanted to book a reservation for my family of 4. I really didn’t know much about the restaurant other than “pretzels & sausage”, so I went in with little idea of what to expect. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is slightly tricky to find the front door. The signage is clear from the street but once you walk down the stairs, but then there is no clear direction of where to go. It appears they had a sign leaning against the stairs, but it was not put out for patrons to see. Even still, we found it pretty quickly and arrived a couple minutes early for our reservation. The front part is the hostess area with the bar and tables pushed against the windows. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio for dining, but it was raining when we were there so it wasn’t open. The main dining area looked absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful wood floors that had steps down to more dining tables. Unfortunately, that’s all we could see, as our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) was put at one of the 3 tables crammed in the bar, even though the dining area was not full at this time. Now, to their credit, the hostess did ask if we would mind sitting there, but again, we didn’t really know at the time what we were missing in the main dining hall, we’d never been there after all. We were seated crammed between the patio windows and adults enjoying their drinks at the bar, having adult conversations. We immediately knew we should have objected but sucked it up instead. The real kicker was after about 10 minutes, then the music starts! There is a musician that plays inside the main dining hall! It sounded glorious, but again, it was muddled between the bar wall and bar conversation. We got up to use the restrooms that are located right in the entrance of the main dining and like we had suspected, it was beautiful and looked like much better ambiance for a family. Service was excellent. Food was just okay. Music was lovely.
Outstanding food and service. Every time we come into town we have to stop and eat.
The food was very good and I had a great time.
Our waiter, who was also the bartender, was fantastic. He recommended the sauerkraut buns as an appetizer- they were outstanding and not to be missed. The food was excellent as was the German beer- very wide selection. We will definitely return every time we are in Hot Springs.
Steinhaus Keller is the reason we go to Hot Springs, Arkansas. They have have very good food and the beer is great. AWESOME SERVICE TOO!
Great as always, we always have at least one dinner when in town. Always great food and great beer!!
They did a great job with everything. We had a pretzel board, pork shanks, and spargel fillet and all were outstanding. Great service!
Authentic and delicious German food in a pleasant atmosphere.
Our server was very inattentive. Would ask one person if they needed anything then run off before anyone else could reply. Half of the table’s food was cold, the other half’s was hot. The food itself was delicious but we were seated at 7:45 pm and didn’t finish eating until around 11. Didn’t receive our food until nearly ten. I love the food but this was not a fun dining experience.
Food good, some of the sides were cold. Service was slow at times but overall still a good experience.
