Not authentic German food. WAY overpriced. Dinner rolls were just that....dinner rolls. We were expecting authentic cooked on site broetchen. Best part of the meal was the microwaved pretzel starter. Dont waist your time and money...
I was impressed about the food authenticity! Quality and flavor was amazing! I haven’t seen anything close outside of Germany. Definitely worth the effort!
I would recommend Stein Haus because the food is good. But our service was terrible on this visit. Our waitress did not get to us until 10 minutes into our visit and then got our order wrong.
Kelsea, I am so disappointed to read you had service issue when you visited on New Year's Eve. We have gone over service expectations with the servers and will make a better effort to talk with the tables during busy nights. All the best to you- Amanda Mitchell-McGuire-Owner
We go to Steinhaus often and the food is always outstanding. New Year's Eve it was even better. Everything was on point. My niece has celiac and a dairy allergy. While there isn't anything specifically for people with her issues on their menu, our server understood her issues and double checked to make sure items would be okay for her to eat. She ordered a couple of sides and a salad. She was very happy with her food and best of all, she did not have any issues afterward.
Jennifer, We are so glad you left happy and your niece was able to safely ear with us. We look forward to seeing you again!! All the best to you- Amanda Mitchell-McGuire-Owner
The sauerkraut soup was divine. I could have eaten another bowl. I had an appetizer sampler for my meal and enjoyed trying everything. My husband really loved the carrot salad side and the Austrian beer. Our server, Matt, was excellent. The violinist was very entertaining. We will definitely go back.
We had a table for 5, and was seated right away. Drinks and appetizers came out quickly, and our meals were served about 30 minutes later. The food was all prepared as ordered, and our waitress was very attentive.
Great service and amazing food!!
Always a wonderful place to have dinner. Great service and a wonderful meal!
Our small group came over to see the Christmas lights at Garvan Gardens and came here for dinner. I had been before and loved the food and atmosphere. We all really enjoyed the food and will definitely come back again. Best German food around in a really nice setting!! If you want fine dining with beer hall combination you will love this place.
I have already recommended it TWICE!!!! Amazingly authentic German cooking! I have not had better schweinehaxe in Germany!!!
Red cabbage was AMAZING, so was the apfel strudel!
Enjoyed perfect table location. Service fair. Food very good!
Ambiance not as advertised. Some scruffy guy running around restaurant in ball cap and dirty work coat destroyed the setting for us for sure. Just can’t understand why a nice restaurant would allow one person to destroy the experience when the setting has so much going for it.
Great waiter Rust.
Always a wonderful experience dining here, and this is my fifth or sixth time I always go when I’m vacationing in Hot Springs. The Jager schnitzel for me is the best and as an appetizer the cabbage rolls are yummy! Great service wonderful beer great setting. Can’t wait to visit again.
Very enjoyable evening, as always. Waitress very attentive, but not overly so, which is perfect!
Great German food! Every time we come to Hot Springs we always eat at this great restaurant.
We drive approx. 3 hrs just to eat at Steinhaus Keller and drive back home. Our meals are always of the highest quality and we have never been disappointed. The staff are always very efficient and we will continue to make the trip as often as we can. Thanks again for an outstanding meal.
Great food, great service! Our server Hayden was amazing. We will definitely be coming back soon!
Entrees were good. Appetizer goat cheese and beets were unusual- would not order again. The service and ambience were excellent. Great selections beer. Enjoyed the experience overall.
Always excellent food and service.
I t is good food, the cucumber salad and sweet carrot salad were REALLY good. A little high priced, but most places are any more. We did expect a little more of a German vibe. Would go again though if in Hot springs again.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and food here. The dishes were amazing and the beer list was also very good. Service was a little lackluster but we noticed other servers doing a great job with their guests, so I think it was isolated to our server specifically. Overall, if you love German food you should check this place out.
The hostess was not at her desk. Another customer had to call the restaurant and ask for the hostess to come to the front, we had reservations but still had to wait about 39 minutes. The waiter was very nice but had a lot of tables to cover. It took a long time to get service, food, and drink refills. The food was good.
Extensive menu. Good value. Great wait staff. The Ukrainian violin player was a nice addition to the evening
Food was great and the atmosphere was really on par. Only issue was the service was a little slow.
Absolutely fabulous!!! What a great place, food was absolutely exceptional. A must go to restaurant. 😊😊
It was our first time here. Its probably one of our most favorite places that we visited while on vacation here in hot springs..its a must visit place. The service was spot on.
An enjoyable meal, and conveniently located to the hotels in Bathhouse Row. The Black Forest Cake was very good.
Food was Excellent! Wait staff was on point! We have been several times and have been pleased every time. I would recommend to anyone.
I made a reservation via Open table 6 WEEKS in advance. I specified that it was my BIRTHDAY dinner.
We arrived a few minutes early and our greeting was lacklustre ! Then we were told she would check to see if a table was clean ??????? 1) we were expected/had a reervation and 2) when we walked into the dining room it was practically EMPTY and every table was set. There was no need to check on table readiness.
Then, we were shown to the WORST table in the room - right by the waiter prep/service area where it was busy with waitstaff zooming back and forth, loading ice, clinking glasses and plates. When I frowned at the table, I was told we it was all that was available - they didn't have many tables for small parties ready (WHY NOT ???????) and we could SIT AT THE BAR !!!!!!!!!!! if we wanted.
There were plenty of 4 tops, but way to many tables set for 6, 8, and 10 !!!!!! people that were NEVER used all night !!!!! They did seat people (I guess off the street without reservations at those tables) so they weren't reserved. There was a lovely table across the room for 2pp and a couple was allowed to occupy it about 1/2 hour after we arrived.
I EXPECTED MORE !!!!!!!! When I reserved 6 weeks in advance, I expected a decent table, however NO EFFORT AT ALL was made to pre-set the dining room according to reservations. And this was a Friday night. Needless to say, this cast a definite pall on my birthday dinner that I had so looked forward to.
The food was good. The waitstaff was average - polite and did check on us - but was not personable. I wouldn't want her to serve us again.
The food was good and we enjoyed it. However, we were treated so shabbily that I'm disinclined to patronize this restaurant again. Which is a mistake on the restaurant's part, as we operate a B&B with 85% occupancy in this tourist town. Until now, I have included brochures/menu for this restaurant in guest rooms, but I won't any longer !!!!!!
Far exceeded my expectations
The food and service was excellent, the beer selection is top notch.
A memorable part of our Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival experience.
This is my favorite place in hot springs great food great beer fantastic service, I make sure to dine here every time we a in Hot Springs
The food was delicious and the service was phenomenal. Our waitress was very attentive without being overbearing and everything we ate from the appetizer to the dessert was amazing. Love eating here!
Wow! First I was amazed to find a German speciality restaurant in a place like Hot Springs Arkansas. But then the menu is so interesting and authentic, it became a MUST TRY!!
WOW again!!! Sauerbraten was so tender and flavors that only my mother used to provide. Incredibly delicious, tender, perfect flavors! Superb. Add red cabbage, equally perfect in seasoning with a richness and complexity of flavors. My wife paired this with potato salad, warm spicy with a hint of wine vinegar. YUM!!
I had the Schnitzel, delicate veal, a hunter sauce, spaetzle, and a potato pancake. Applesauce of course. Just delicious.
This restaurant is worth a trip to Hit Springs just for the FOOD!!!!
Highly highly recommend.
Great food - great service! Not easy to see from the street. Ask for directions - you won't be sorry!
The food was good, but when it arrived over an hour after we ordered, it was cold. That seemed to be the issue for all of the tables around us; one table had to go find some one to ask about their order and she said they had been waiting for nearly an hour and a half. The bartender was very personable and quick-we enjoyed our wait in the bar (we had reservations and arrived early). We got one refill on our drinks for the nearly two hours we were there, had to ask for bread, and kept getting bumped by busy waiters rushing past us (we were seated in front of the stage). There were many other tables open that would have been more comfortable for us and not in the way of the waitstaff.
Delicious food, delectable german beers, engaging Octoberfest ambiance. Never disappoints!
The food was good and the beer selection excellent.
But service was very slow about an 1.5 hours for food
Excellent German food. One of the best restaurants I've discovered in awhile. Also enjoyed being able to order our dog's dinner from the dog menu!
I couldn’t imagine how any part of our visit could have gone better: the waitstaff was friendly and efficient, the food was delicious (I can’t recommend the Sauerkraut Cakes enough), and the atmosphere was especially festive (our visit coincided with their Oktoberfest). “10/10”‘s and golden stars all around. Can’t wait for our next visit!
