Mac & Cheese
kurobuta pork belly, tempura oyster, black pepper-soy glaze
The food is very expensive for the quality. The steaks are average and the sides are very acidic.
We could barely get water refilled and no offers to refill any other overpriced, small drinks. It was very unimpressive.
Had been here a few yrs ago and had great drinks and food, as well as service. Unfortunately, our recent experience was by no means similar. The oysters went bad and had to send it back. Luckily no one got sick during our vacation. Additionally, The server was very forgetful and had to remind him for drinks and my leftover ribeye which was the only tasty item. Hopefully just an off night but likely will not be returning.
Steak tasted great but we expected more for the price. Compared with other steak house like BLT, Wolfgangs and Ruth's Chris, nothing special and it's pricy. Surprisingly they don't serve bread - well, they said they have toast but who wants toast with steak dinner? I didn't feel the music (it was like pop music) was matched to the atomosphere - especially high price point restaurant.
Dinner for my 50th birthday. Service was fantastic. Food was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.
Our experience was fantastic. Food, service, atmosphere were all amazing. Definitely not your run of the mill steak house. The combination of flavors was so interesting and on point. The presentation was beautiful, from the appetizers to the pineapple foster. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fabulous evening.
The steak wasn’t exceptional particularly for the $85 it costed. The wine had been open for a while and tasted a bit like acid. Finally the fries that where complementary where chewy and got cold the minute it arrived on the table. Clearly they where cooked in old fat. All in all an overpriced place with disappointing food.
It was a good experience. No complaints about anything from beginning to start. Yet nothing spectacularly memorable. It was a good dinner.
Did the NYE experience with the pre determined menu. Very lack luster. The ribeye was nothing to write home about. Not sure if it's like this on a normal evening but after spending $400, I'm not sure I'm willing to go back and test it out.
Was very disappointed as the food was not amazing for a huge bill for two. Should have been a lot better. Sorry.
We went for the nye 3 or 4 course meal, it was beyond our expectations. The portions were more than generous, we left extremely full and with left overs. The service was top notch, every course came out in perfect time and the drinks were in good time as well. Very clean and cool ambiance, will most definitely be back
Preset menu was AMAZING for New Years Eve! A lot of food, great taste and quality. Service was great!
Family of 4 (2 kids under 7) dinner over holiday trip. Dinner and service was great!
Amazing food from filet to scallops to mahi. Exceptional service. Fun atmosphere.
Outstanding service and great food from the starters to the entrees to dessert. The pineapple foster is a treat.
We are very fortunate to experience fine dining several times a week or more. Last nights dining experience at Stripsteak was absolutely fantastic. The ambience, attentive friendly staff, and everything we ordered was amazing. By far, this was one of the best meals I can remember. I can’t wait to return.
Great food and service!
Very friendly wait staff. Food was very good. Ambience was outstanding. They had a live performer & he was the perfect background music. Very talented singer. Food: Ordered the fat duck t bone & waygu ribeye. Both were delicious. Sides (whipped potatoes & asparagus) were prepared nicely. Overall, great dinner on Christmas night.
Food - The steaks were excellent and top tier. Perfectly cooked and amazing flavor on the outside, but definitely expensive. I’ve dreamt about the tuna tartare since Aqua closed in San Francisco, and it did not disappoint! The tuna crudo was beautiful and a great combo of flavor and texture, albeit expensive for the quantity. The pork belly was only ok in my opinion but to be fair, that might’ve just been me. The Caesar salad was simple good flavor and the uncut leaves were small-medium sized and easy to cut.
Ambiance - The lighting was appropriately dim for an upper tier nice restaurant at its price point. There was live music on the “patio” which was nice and the music was good, but it was too loud. I like a lively, fun vibe, but it was difficult to have conversation on the patio, and I was with young adults. You couldn’t overhear other table conversations, but you also had to talk loudly at your own table. It was even really loud in the main dining room. I loved the booths. Personally, I did not like the Formica white tables without table cloths. If anything spilled, it was messy and smeared everywhere.
Service - The hostess was polite and professional. Our waiter was nice, attentive and informed about the food. The waitstaff was clumsy cleaning the tables between courses which was necessary given the type / texture of the table. Personally I think at a high end, expensive restaurant, plates shouldn’t be cleared until everyone has finished that course. Our first course was cleared immediately when we each finished and sometimes while we were still chewing our last bite. Additionally, the entrees came right after we finished our first course. At this price point / caliber of a restaurant, I expect a little time in between. It was a delicious, but fast expensive dinner. I think we were in and out in just over an hour, which is fast for a restaurant serving $25-32 (what we ordered) 1st courses and $77-85 steaks (what we ordered).
Service was impeccable. Food was fabulous! We would give 10 stars if we could.
Christmas dinner was fantastic
Great service. Food was very expensive even for the atmosphere and quality.
Our favorite in Waikiki. Great food and lots of fun. Staff is the best. Highly recimmended
The restaurant was overpriced. The food was bland. HoweverThe ambiance was amazing.
Food was delicious and the service was good. Loved everything.
We dine here pretty often and are familiar with the menu. There were less options because it was Christmas Eve (which my husband appreciated because he tends to order way too much) because it’s so delicious. We stuck to our usuals: king crab (best in the world here), filet minot, truffle mac n cheese, and caesar salad. The only new thing we ordered and the first thing here that we didn’t care for was the lobster tacos. They lacked in lobster, there was seriously like a pinch of it, and all we could taste was pineapple. Our server was fantastic, best one yet. I always know that I’m going to leave this spot feeling great and I love it.
We had a wonderful waiter and the food was exceptional!
Manager helped us out with the wine menu and the food menu. Very helpful and accommodating. Made us very comfortable and we had a great and delicious time! Would go back anytime
Great dinner. We actually didn’t have any steak, but there was no problem with the seafood and chicken dishes. The room, while outdoors, was a bit noisy. We enjoyed our meal in spite of the noise level.
It was my daughter’s bday, food was really tasty and juicy. We had excellent server, forgot her name thou. My glass was never empty. I recommend this place to everyone
Food was good - nothing spectacular.
We asked for outdoor seating and while it was considered “outdoor” we were seated right next to the bar and they placed the high chair at the head of the table with only enough room between that and the bar stool for people to walk through (but it was too close for comfort)
Our server not only kept pulling his face mask down when talking to us, but it was not covering his nose (kept slipping down).
We had a toddler with us and we had to ask for place setting for him (no napkin or utensils) and a cup for water.
Music was a bit loud that we couldn’t hear each other without having to lean over or almost shout.
I guess I had bigger expectations since is a Michael Mina restaurant. The place is beautiful, and the drinks are great. The food was fine, but nothing spectacular
Nick the waiver was amazing !! Great service
Awesome steak house, worth trying they have different style steaks and food. Been to a lot of steak houses and this is by far up there. Waitress was very helpful and accommodating
Our world food tour 2021 continued at the revitalized Stripsteak Waikiki, with a new GM and executive chef; it was a “must try” for us. The restaurant was packed with diners; we had a table in the far end of the restaurant, where we could see the entrance to ShoreFrye.
We started with a 2015 Pommard “Clos des Ursulines”, a delightful Burgundy from the southern end of Pommard, close to Volnay. Fruity with hints of cherry, currants and fig; still with tannins, but not overly so. A great start to what is hopefully an equally great meal.
I saw the article on Stripsteak in the DEC/JAN issue of HI Luxury and had to order the Foie Gras actually, we asked for two orders (because one skewer is simply not enough) and the Salmon Tiradito. The foie gras were little bites of heaven with bits of pineapple and macadamia nuts. The salmon was served with a lilikoi-aji Amarillo; the heat from the peppers, the crispness of the radish slices and the dollop of avocado cream made this a great appetizer.
Our entrees were the Prime Rib Cap, the best part of a ribeye, and the NY strip. I had the peppercorn sauce and my tablemate had the trio of sauces (steak, Bearnaise and peppercorn). We had the Red Miso Corn and Garlic Fried Rice as accompaniments.
The strip steak was flavorful but a touch firm for me and the ribeye cap was enjoyed by my tablemate. I loved the Red Miso Corn; there was some heat (paprika?) and a hint of lime butter. The fried rice was very good, with bits of pork belly.
Dessert was the Kona Dark Chocolate Layer Cake and a scoop of mango sorbet. Alas, they were out of the mango sorbet so I did without and satisfied myself with a great coffee, served in a Frieling French Press.
All in all, a very good to great meal with excellent service. We luxuriated in the atmosphere of a vibrant restaurant … I thought the changes made were all great; I like the restaurant much more than its previous incarnation. Recommended!
Best meal we had here. Please open one on Maui where we live!!!!
Overpriced. Wont waste my time writing an extended review but in a nutshell:
1. Ordered my “premium” steak medium temperature and they brought it rare… I could even see the fat not melted (fat melts around 130-140 F)… so it was definitively super rare - waiter didn’t even ask me if the temperature was right (as he should’ve and as expected in a fine dining restaurant.
2. I literally drank ice and sugary water for more than 20 mins, as I ordered a soft drink and NEVER had a refill or was asked by a runner or server if I wanted a refill.
Overall: Spent $350+ USD for 2 at a “ok” taste and bad table service restaurant. Michael Mina would be disappointed.
Hope this helps management to up their game and mostly YOU the guest to choose well.
MANY better restaurant options to choose if you are staying in Waikiki (even at a lesser price!)
Ordered set menus for $105 per person . From presentation to tasting was not even passed average. Too salty, 3 pieces of steak supposedly cooked at med rare. One acceptable. One too well done and one totally blue, barely seared on one side. Wow, they can’t even handle to cook steak consistently Can’t even eat that piece. Our tab run about $900 but not even a dish that satisfied. Totally ruin our evening. NOT recommended !
This was my 5th visit to this restaurant. Awesome food and a great bar.
