A progressive perspective of classic Southern favorites. James Beard Award nominee Edward Lee brings his Korean roots and Southern repertoire to a soulful Southern menu.

SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

Everything was wonderful. Amazing environment. Fantastic service. The food was absolutely wonderful. I do think they should put the kids stuff on the menu, but if you ask they have kids dishes.

The fried oysters were by far the best I’ve ever had. Very different than what you might expect. The perfect combination of flavors. I strongly recommend that. You won’t be sorry.

Amazing brunch! And easily one of the best chicken and waffle dishes I ever had. We were able to make a last minute reservation via Open Table and they seated us right away, even though we were running a few minutes behind. The restaurant was full, but not too noisy. Our particular server was a little slow, but the food came out from the kitchen very fast. Can’t wait to come again!

We enjoyed our dinner so much! We shared some deviled eggs and crispy green beans to start, and my crispy catfish was so delicious. I rarely get to eat crispy anything, because I do not eat gluten, so these dishes were really awesome. I would definitely return.

This is my second visit to Succotash. We were in DC this time for a 4 day trip for my moms bday. The group consensus? Our favorite meal of the whole trip!! Service was excellent, drinks are unique and delicious and the food is fantastic. We ordered chicken & waffles, halibut with crawfish, salmon and beef short ribs. The chocolate bourbon pecan pie is also not to be missed! The restaurant is also very cool. If you sit on the first floor, make sure to ask to see the bank vault table and speakeasy upstairs, I didn’t see those the first time. The bank vault table is also cozy and private for a smaller group!

There were two of us dining at Succotash for the first time. We decided on the tasting menu. All of the food was absolutely delicious and hit the spot!

As always, the milk punch and smoked chicken wings were lovely items that we always get. This time around I tried the dirty chicken which is a great take on hot chicken. The mac and cheese was a creamy and cheesy break from the spice of the chicken. The old bank building is always a wonder to see as well.

When traveling on business, I’m always eager to see if any restaurants run by Top Chef contestants are in the city we are in. Today it’s Washington, DC restaurant Succotash, run by Edward Lee (season 9).. His style is Asian-fusion southern cooking. My husband had the crispy blue catfish with a veggie medley that was spicy and tasty. Highly recommended. I had the pear and blue salad, new addition to the menu for the season. It was very refreshing but had slightly powerful vinaigrette dressing that muddled the anticipated flavor profile of the dish. Dessert was hummingbird cake with a gigantic slice as the portion Way too much, but delicious.

Great recommendations from our waitress. Loved the shrimp and grits! My son enjoyed the Dirty Chicken.
Fried green tomato appetizer was delicious and quite possibly the best smoked wings we ever had. Atmosphere was especially nice. Ask for one of the unique and cozy booths. Cannot wait to go back!

Thank you thank you for an excellent dinner!! The hostess Maria was welcoming and warm, she gave us an absolutely beautiful table. We were celebrating a special occasion and your consideration was greatly appreciated. Our serve Solfie was helpful, knowledgable, and kind. She gave great recommendations and helped us through the menu as it was our first time there. We highly recommend the hushpuppies and deviled egg snacks as well as the drink menu! The steak salad was good, I would have preferred the greens on the side instead of on top of the steak as it warmed them a little which wasn't too tasty. The salmon on my boyfriend's platter was delish although a little sweet. The brussels sprouts were tasty, and an extra special shout out to the green tomato jam with the hushpuppies. The mint julep ice cream is also worth the splurge! Thank you for a great meal and an extra special kick off to our evening! Big love <3

Half of our food were underseasoned. Waiter was unattentive. The waiter barely checked up on us. The manager took care of our concerns. I would like to see him more of the Asian side of things or else it is just a regular southern restaurant.

OMG, Wayyyyyy toooo loud! Went on a Thursday night and honestly could not hear my dining companions after the tables filled up. Tomato salad was lackluster. Tomatoes were tasteless, the peach tasteless, one tiny pieces of cheese. Please don't put a tomato salad on the menu if they aren't good/in season. I was really disappointed.
