SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified, and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

Good was very underwhelming and the staff was very tired. I understood why it was so Inexpensive.
I had high hopes for taking our out of town guests to Succotash for thanksgiving, but with their lackluster thanksgiving day menu charging $65/person for dry turkey and sides that I would be embarrassed to bring to any holiday dinner, I was both underwhelmed and overcharged. We were honestly embarrassed to take our friends here.
Lovely thanksgiving dinner. Delicious food (even for vegetarians!) and outstanding service. We’ll be back.
Very slow service. I was waiting for more than 30 min after ordering and food was cold when served. Manager offer apologies but nothing else. Poor recovery skills. Food was ok not for $$$$ restaurant.
Great Thanksgiving Dinner and nice time with my family
Thanksgiving Dinner was fabulous. Wonderful menu and everything was yummy. The servers were fantastic!!!!! The special bourbon slushy was a special treat. We will definitely go back for Thanksgiving or anytime dining. Beautiful restaurant as well.
I had such a great time dining during thanksgiving. Our waitress was amazing and we felt we were well taken care of with drinks and food. Ten out of ten service and the food was delicious! Will definitely be coming back and writing a glowing Yelp review about my experience.
One of my favorite DC spots. However, the fish of the day was undercooked, couldn’t be eaten but didn’t want to bring attention to it as we were with another couple who we didn’t know well
Love this place. Food is always awesome, and a great fun spot. So glad it’s fully open!
The collard greens and kimchi was fantastic! Everyone’s meals were very nicely prepared and delicious. I would go to this place every week if I lived in the area.
Delicious food. Great drinks. Excellent service!
Wonderful service! Food came out quickly and hot. Yaya, our server, was attentive. The food was sooo good! Even our kids ate 90% of their food!
Great service and food, loved the live music!
Nice date night experience! Our waiter was very helpful with questions we had about the menu. The appetizers and entrees were made to perfection!
The food was very good but the service was extremely slow and the noise level too loud to enjoy the meal.
Disappointing. Was over half an hour to get drinks, over an hour for entrees and all of the food was lukewarm. The server used COVID as an excuse for the delay, but I've dined at comparable DC restaurants recently with much better service and food that was served hot. Unlikely to return.
First timer and it was a great experience. Food and service was wonderful. The reality is there are some dishes you like and others you don’t, but it doesn’t diminish the experience. My only critique is that I wish they offered a selection of desserts for birthday celebrations; what was provided was a bit disappointing. A simple cupcake would have been sufficient.
Probably the best brunch we have had in a few years. The ambience was energetic, the service was excellent, the cocktails were ‘just right’, the coffee was hot and strong and the food was delicious. We will be back for sure!
We spent 2 hours at our table, practically being ignored by our server. She forgot a part of our entree and it took 40 minutes to get one drink. She repeatedly said “the kitchen/bar is busy”
Fun southern style decor and a really nice menu, with several great dishes and not expensive prices. Service was very good, professional -- waiting a little long for the check, but everything else was excellent. Food was very tasty, Bloody Mark was spicy and flavorful.
The ambience was great. We went on a Friday a night and there was live music. The food was excellent, and the fried catfish and the ribeye are definitely items to order again. The collard greens weren't my favorite, but they arrived exactly as described by the waiter--so no lost feelings there. Overall, dinner was fantastic and we had a great time!
Service and food were epic!
Our first visit back since they reopened. The food and atmosphere are just as good as ever! The pimiento cheese and ham platter is practically a meal in itself, including 2 good-sized, excellent biscuits, crudites with ranch dressing, and pickled cauliflower with spicy red pepper slices. Love the variety of textures and flavors, and the cheese mix itself is hearty and a bit spicy too.
Having craved Succotash's tastes for over a year, I also had 2 different styles of deviled egg halves, and the one with pickled green tomatoes particularly sparkled with flavor in a creamy filling. My Bibb lettuce salad (yes, I got that too) featured very crisp and fresh greens and a bacon vinaigrette that turned lettuce into an indulgence. Although the goat's cheese on the salad was good, I'd leave it out so I could focus more on the greens and sauce, but maybe that's because I already had the pimiento cheese. And, hey, I took one biscuit home!
Great food with southern flare! Shrimp and grits were delicious. My mint julep was delicious especially with the shaved ice.
I wouldn’t recommend this place if it was the only restaurant in a 1000 mile radius. The chicken and waffles (their specialty )was over cooked and inedible, and they charged me for a drink and a side they never even served. Absolutely ridiculous, after we told them we were late and 1 friend walked away with out anything to eat they offered us nothing but a to go bag - which we already told them we were going to a concert.
Awesome as always!!
Succotash is a very attractive restaurant, with a low noise level that permits conversation and pleasant live music. The food is quite good: the fried green tomatoes are delicately battered and nicely crunchy. The shrimp and grits is very flavorful, imaginatively spiced but not overly so.
I cut restaurant service slack because of the current difficulties in staffing them everywhere. Still, I have to note that the service at Succotash, although friendly, was mediocre. I stood more than five minutes at the unstaffed host desk, with passing waiters ignoring me, until I finally flagged one down to claim my reservation. Being alone, I chose to eat at the very nice bar, but my place had not been wiped clean from the previous customer; I ended up doing it myself.
I hope that these problems are temporary, as I’d gladly return to Succotash once they are resolved.
Dinner with my husband for a late anniversary celebration before going to the anthem to see John Fogerty.
A gorgeous dining space, the upstairs balcony is quieter and feels more private. Service started out well, but slowed down at coffee, dessert and the check-likely due to short staffing. All personnel very friendly. The chief draw is the EXCELLENT food (other than the creamed succotash being a bit too salty) which comes in generous portions (we always end up taking some fried chicken home)
Server (YaYa) was great but kitchen was slow and in fact did not deliver part of my husband’s dinner for so long that we ultimately had to cancel it. Food was great and ambiance was great!
Absolutely amazing food service ambience
Service was great from the Manager who sat us to our Server Kee. Food was delicious. Would highly recommend and next time we are in DC will come back.
Just a wonderful experience
The food was really good, but the server wasn’t great at all. She would disappear for long periods of time and we wouldn’t know where she went. Then she would come out onto the floor, and just turn right back around and disappear. One thing I do wish is that the restaurant would tell you that they automatically add a tip to your bill. I was shocked because it was just 5 of us but nowhere in the website did it mention that would be added since we weren’t a big group.
Deviled eggs were really tasty. Sticky buns were dry and edges very hard. Ham and pimento cheese plate was ok; pimento cheese and biscuits were great, but ham was weirdly brown and not appealing. Entrees were just ok. Eggs not cooked to order, and chicken in Cobb salad was covered with gojuchang and fried, which was not listed on the menu description. The server was nice but not attentive. The space is really nice overall, but hard to make up for the meh food.
The service at Succatash was great. The ambience was nice. The sausage gravy and biscuits that I ordered was cold and the chicken wings that I ordered had feathers on them.
Great food, but better service. My go to restaurant from now on.
Very good food. Service was a little slow with checking in and taking orders.
This was the first time to try Southern restaurant when visiting Washington D.C. We did not know what to order, but the person serving us was so friendly and kind to recommend some featured foods from their menu. All we had were so delicious and we enjoyed the dinner with live music in the restaurant.
We had a great meal with friendly and helpful service! The ambiance was really interesting which enhanced our meal. We had 6pm reservations so noise level was low. Our server suggested a great cocktail!
