You should take the Sugar Shack of this App. They closed down more two weeks ago! We got a reservation off this app and went there to find them closed!:(
Please be advised this restaurant is closed. I booked a large party for my daughter’s birthday and received no notification of the restaurant closing. Very upset and annoyed with this poor management and ownership to not take down the restaurant on OpenTable nor add a message on phone .
I made my reset for 11am and they weren’t even open. No call to correct the timing and the phone number listed was not connected.
Dont know why Im getting a Rating for this restaurant. Booked dinner for my husband birthday. It wasn't open for business, never got a chance to dine here.
It was closed until the 15th of August. We Drove all the way there on my moms birthday for nothing. Future references, They might want to include that on opentable when I made my reservation.. Thanks!
I wouldn’t recommend Sugar Shack because I was able to make a reservation and the restaurant was closed. The voicemail message at the restaurant didn’t mention anything about being closed. We showed up at Sugar Shack and couldn’t enjoy dining there. Open Table shouldn’t take a reservation for a restaurant that’s closed.
Went to restaurant and it was closed. Why would open table let us make a reservation for a restaurant that was closed? The family was very excited and was celebrating a special event. Not to mention this was all during a terrible rain storm. Very disappointed.
Service was super slow, the music was too loud and the food was average to below average. We tried a variety of items, the chicken and waffles, nothing special and overpriced, the catfish was ok but very small portion, so again overpriced, the pork chop was seasoned well but a little on dry side. Will not be coming back. Oh and they auto include gratuity even on a table of 5, never seen that before, should only be 6 or more!
This place was horrible.. we waited over an hour for our food we waited 30 minutes for our drinks. And the food was disgusting chicken was dry
The hostess and waiter were very attentive. The music was on point and the atmosphere was dope!
Overall feels more "style over substance". The food was overall solid and service friendly but slow and no one seemed to have a sence of urgency (lots of servers just hanging out, chatting with each other). Our food came our very staggered with two of my kids getting their meals 10 minutes after the rest of us and we ordered two shakes for dessert and one came in 10 mins, the other 20 mins after that. Also, they automatically added gratuity without mentioning it (we were only a party of 5) and when they handed me their electronic pad it was at the tip screen so if I hadn't looked carefully I would have double tipped
This was such a horrible restaurant. We had to walk out. First, we asked for high chair and never received one. There was gum on the seat we were sitting on. It took someone 10 minutes to come to our table for drinks. 2 out of the 3 water glasses were chipped and all appetizer plates were chipped. They gave us menus and then said oh it’s only brunch menu for now. We had our heart set on other items we couldn’t even order. We finally put in our order we get our coffee and there was lipstick on the cup. We walked out. Will never recommend this place to anyone.
There was a hair on my friend’s steak and something on her drink. My friend couldn’t finish her food because of that. She inform the waiter and he really do anything about it. We didn’t wanna cause a scene so we didn’t talk to the manager. They need to give better customer services.
Decent food. Great ambiance. Service was a little slow but overall it was decent.
Its a new restaurants so they don't have a lot of people in the restaurant, but the service was fantastic. We ate multiple dishes from the small plate menu which were all excellent. There was a live DJ playing at the time who played great music.
DJ was going but the food was ok. Service was good but they had no central air on the 2nd floor. VERY VERY HOT
I have already told several people at my job. I loved the experience ❤️
It was my first time eating at the restaurant. It was Mother’s Day and we made reservations so seating was very efficient. However, I don’t think the establishment was prepared for the amount of customers on Mother’s Day. It was extremely disappointing to wait 2 hours for a brunch meal. The manager was apologetic and was also accommodating for our wait. I know they just opened but they need to fix their service.
This was my first time at Sugar Shack as I was pretty excited it was Mother’s Day and was able to get a reservation. I was totally open at first, but then... First, they had a poor new waiter on most the tables in my section so it was hard for him to keep up with the pace of the crowd. The second thing that threw me off was that they ONLY had a pre-fixe menu available. I had a child with me so he pretty had to eat off my plate as there were no options for him. Once we did get our orders placed, they took forever with the ONE seltzer we ordered. I also had to flag down the waiter for some muffins that the other tables seemed to have gotten then he came back and told us that the kitchen was backed up because of a large party upstairs. I’m sorry?! It’s Mother’s Day. So not only are the muffins small as hell but now I have to wait on everything because the kitchen was backed up. Ok. Fine. Thank god my mom and my kid had snacks or else there would have been a total meltdown.
Once they did start bringing out food, they brought them one at a time. Like I mean. My boyfriend got his app, then 5 minutes later another one, then 10 min later another. Same with the main course, except they forgot about mine. When the waiter asked how everything was, I told him I didn’t get my food. It’s chicken and waffles, how hard could it be. Well... the chicken was bomb, the waffle not so much and thank god it was the dark meat I asked for which i eventually got after having white meat come to the table the first time, 20 minutes AFTER the other plates. Then once I had my meal, several other plates of my dish kept coming to the table, so in all I would have had about 4 plates of chicken and waffles had I eaten them all. If the food wasn’t good, I would have left long time ago, but the service left a lot to be desired. Hopefully they get it together.
Horrible service Sugar Shack White Plains waited over an hour not to get served ... as I waited I watched everyone food being brought to different tables. Just for them to tell us our waiter was overwhelmed and not mention false advertisement for bottomless mimosa
This was by far and above the worst dining experience I have ever had. We started out by learning that there was a prefixed menu that made absolutely no substitutions for food allergies in our group. From there, we were told that the advertised bottomless mimosas were “false advertising” and could speak to a manager if we wanted to. They then gave our food to the table next to us and tried to give us the same cold plates that had been sitting in the back for God knows how long after the other table gave them back. At that point, half our table had food and the other didn’t. That was so for about 30 minutes until the rest of the table got their cold food. The food, in addition to being cold was tasteless. After waiting for about 45 minutes for an unsweet tea, I asked for the dessert portion of our terrible meal to go and was brought paper plates wrapped in foil. We were charged $35 for terrible brunch and an additional $15 for the “bottomless mimosas” that they apparently honored as a favor. If I were open table, I would honestly take them off your site. They are awful. I have no idea how they are still in business but it is highway robbery!!!!
Glass an silver wear were dirty , beside that the food was ok
Great decor. Food was so so.
It was closed in the middle of the day. Not sure If it went out of business already.
Food was good and the place was nice and clean. Food took a little while to come but they were accommodating. Dj played good music. Would come back again for sure
First impression supposed to be the best my first time going there bad experience How can you have a menu with food on it and don’t have the food when it’s ordered. First I wanted red rice with my catfish No red rice, so I said let me have mashed potatoes with My catfish no mash potatoes, So I said just give me the catfish and the catfish was very scrumptious.
Went after work for dinner with a friend, It took 45 mins to get our food which did not come out together. There were only 3 other tables with people at them so not sure why took soooo long. Waitress, although new (first full week) was very nice. They had a DJ and at times the music was deafining....its a restaurant not a night club. For a new restaurant, i was disappointed and think it will not be around long.
We went there for a reservation we booked through Opentable when we got there and they wouldn’t sit us for dinner because there was a party before and the kitchen was backed up what a joke when we got there the party was gone not even that packed and the worst part is they didn’t even offer a drink to say sorry for inconvenience since they destroyed our night for dinner. So in hindsight I will never be going back there again
Sugar Shack has the potential to be an amazing place. The music is great and the space is beautiful. However, the service is horrible. There was no hostess to greet or show you to your table. It took over an hour to wave down a waitress to order. No water offered or given. The food and drinks took another hour and a half to be delivered. Staff would bring food without an idea of where is belonged. No apology or communication from staff.
Service was terrible, hair on the napkins, not kid friendly
Loved it! Went with friends to catch up. The space is gorgeous! Favs were the soul rolls, wings, catfish, and Mac n cheese, followed by extreme shakes. Parking was easy in City Center garage on level 4. Definitely going back OFTEN.
A classy but casual vibe downtown White Plains has been craving for a long time. The newly renovated space is full of texture, color and lighting that will set you up to relax and enjoy the food, drinks & each other's company. The staff is new and open to learning the tempo and preferences of the brunch to late night crowd. The chef is passionate about delivering new twists on classic Soul & Latin plates. I especially liked the chicken & waffles, fried chicken tacos, sweet potato muffins, smothered pork chops, and the tasty banana pudding comes with what must be an entire box of Nilla wafers - definitely enough to share. Bartender Andy slings drinks that you'll thirst for and certainly keeps em' coming! A great gathering place for large groups to couple & singles. And, check out sponsored events. I've been to a few different events from a brunch club, book signing, etc. Take advantage of ample parking in City Center (4th Flr). Take the outside escalator down to the patio terrace towards Main St and follow the curved windows around to the entrance of the Sugar Shack. Enjoy!
This place literally is just the opposite of what you would expect a "sugar shack" to be. You'd think it'd be colorful, fun, lighthearted, enjoyable. It is literally none of those things. Firstly, there are more wait staff than customers, even though this place was advertised on a local news network. Second, the decor and furniture were so tacky and just bad, that it made me wanna leave 2 minutes after sitting down. The music they played sounded more fit for a nightclub rather than a restaurant. Also, the "southern comfort food" was mediocre and lackluster. The only really good thing about our meal was the rice and the chicken (barely). The chicken was juicy and tender, but it had absolutely no flavor. Also, back to the wait staff, they just love to ignore you for hours. Took me and my mother a half hour to flag down the 1 waitress they had on duty that day so we could get dessert and go home. Overall, I would just avoid this place and go to Black Tap instead. It's worth way more since it's an experience and good American comfort food.
Reserved thru Open Table during a business trip and left the comfort of the hotel for what I thought would be a good meal. After circling for parking a few minutes, we made our way up to what looked to be a lovely modern restaurant BUT THEY WERE CLOSED! No sign on the door apologizing for any inconvenience, nothing! Just a dark restaurant with its chairs up on the tables. This was a scheduled day of operation so I can’t imagine why they were closed or why I was even able to make a reservation... Not impressed!
We made a reservations for Sunday at 6 pm and the girl was saying that they were closed. Once we said we had a reservation she made it seem like she was doing us a favor by letting us in. Then we sat down we waited for a while, once we started ordering they didn't have anything, no drinks at the bar, limited choices on the menu. We noticed she kept letting some people in and turning down others. This place will not last very long with the horrible service they have! I def don't recommend this place at all!
Good food friendly atmosphere. The location is nice with ample parking at the city center lot.
Service was amazing! Food was delicious, everyone from the hostess to the server were incredibly nice, sweet and very attentive. The drinks and dessert we shared were to die for. The manager Kera was very attentive to our needs and made it her business to keep checking in on us to see if we needed anything. Everything was up to par the only thing I would say is the music could've been a little louder but nonetheless still enjoyed ourselves. We really love the fact that the business is black owned. We will definitely be going back soon with some friends.
We went for Brunch and they have mastered it! Meals were excellent and the Mimosas kept coming. Our server was very attentive and the Dessert Bar was to die for!
Great time my waitress Destiny provided great service.
We truly enjoyed Sunday Brunch! Great selection, food was scrumptious, desserts were amazing, bottomless Mimosas were robust and the atmosphere was the perfect backdrop for a rainy day. We loved it!
