   Great location and friendly service Most meals fine but my roast beef was the worst ever. Lousy veg - half an inedible cabbage sloppy carrots poor roasted potatoes and unidentifiable meat- the Yorkshire pudding was fine A disappointing birthday meal

   We came here a few weeks ago and it wasn’t a great experience. What a vast improvement on the food quality and speed of service. The waiter was very attentive. We know the industry is struggling so it’s always worth giving places another try.

    A decent Sunday lunch. Maybe the choice of beef was a mistake as I like my beef rare but it was quite tasty even if quite well done, my wife's chicken however looked good. Presentation wasn't brilliant, it was something of a pile of food. Staff were attentive and professional (not so common these days!) and the ambience was pleasant. Overall it was a good choice and I would go again.

    Car park is tiny, so be prepared to park at the station and walk down a hill. Food was not the money, meat was stringy.

    Perfect place along the river. Always nice ambiance. Menu could be a little more adventurous. Burger was a little dry, could have used more ooomph! Servers always nice, so overall a lovely afternoon.

    Sadly, from the moment we arrived this was a disaster. When you enter you are asked to wait to be greeted by the front desk. We waited for 10 minutes and nobody arrived. When we were finally seated at a table, we ordered drinks and they were promptly forgotten about. 15 minutes later we re-ordered the drinks. We ordered the food and found that our first, second and third choice main course we’re all off the menu and unavailable. This represented three of the seven choices for main course. Not once during the meal we asked if we’d like another drink. Not once where we checked upon whilst we were eating. The food was adequate and no more and overall a depressingly poor visit.

    The food was disappointing overall. A quick lunch. I had a club sandwich which I would not have again - a mushy overly wet chicken and bacon filling with a fried egg and a few tomatoes - not what i would expect ! Fries were good. Service was good and the location great. They accommodated a change from an outside table (raining!) to the bar at short notice. Beers good. A poor choice of meal as my friends steak sandwich was good.

    I was placed (in an empty restaurant) next to a table where two people were having an intense and quite confrontational work meeting. I asked to be moved which seemed to take the waiter by surprise. I chose to sit at the far end in an empty room. Within minutes another couple we’re placed right behind me - in an empty room. There is still a need to think about social distancing in indoor venues. My lunch choice was really unappetising - quiche and kale - but there was no kale and the waiter wasn’t at all sure what the alternative vegetable was. When the quiches arrived they were dry and tasteless and I have no idea what the beige purée was they were sitting on. To be honest I will not be coming back.

    This is probably the third occasion we have had to complain about this place. Despite giving it the benefit of the doubt. Two of the three of us ordered the salad as our main course. When it arrived the ingredients did not match the menu. The portion was less than we had probably got had we ordered a starter. For £13 the chef should have been embarrassed serving this. No apology from the person serving us. Although both salads were removed from the bill no gesture of good will something like a round of drinks, nothing discounted or offered free of charge. More, probably than even, with the rising cost of living, is good quality food and service, so critical to a business. We won't be giving this venue, which is located in our village, any more chances. A complete waste of time - avoid is my strong recommendation.

    We loved where we sat by the window where we had a lovely view of the river. Sorry but disappointed in the food, believe it or not all we could taste was salt, whether it was the gravy or not who knows. I had the chicken dinner and my Sister and Brother in law had the beef. Even the presentation was not the best, looked as though the food had just been piled on the plate. The young girls serving were very pleasant and polite though, no complaints at all for your staff. My husband had the battered fish dinner, slightly better. Mrs. S. Hodson.

    Really nice bar/restaurant with really friendly, helpful staff. We had to wait quite a while for our food however the staff were really apologetic. The food itself was good but, the gravy was a little too much, too rich. As it was already on the plate there was no getting away from it. I would recommend though, we had the roast pork belly, just ask for the gravy to be on the side rather all over the food. The only other thing to mention was the 12% service charge the automatically add to the bill, I’m sure it can be removed at your request but, it should be a recommendation not just added.

    Noisy child on other table which made it hard to hear. Not sure how that could be handled though. Fish and Chips not as good as they used to be. Hostess was lovely and very attentive. Curry did not taste of peanut butter and was a bit watery but I recall hostess saying the chef was an agency chef. Hospitality is being really hit at the moment so I will go back again as I like The Swan.

    We did a last minute booking for Easter Sunday. Staff are lovely but the food took an age to come out which was surprising as it was pretty quiet. Food was good, although the roast beef was very fatty and chewy. It is definitely over priced and the calorie count next to the food is definitely not a good idea. Yes I know this is a government thing but it's utterly pointless when you consider most people only go out as a special treat. This will trigger so many people with eating disorders.

    What a lovely cosy pub. We were early on a Sunday so it was nice and quiet. Service was speedy and efficient, also very friendly without getting in your way. The roast was really good, generous servings, Im a veg lover so could have done with just one more veg, it was a carrot and a portion of cabbage. All very tasty and would definitely recommend
